Clinging to Devoted Fiancé, Heiress Slays the World!-Chapter 822: You’re in Cahoots with Them!
Ji Wei’s brain raced as she thought of an excuse: "Grandma is still in a coma, and I’m accompanying her to the hospital. If you have work at the company, just continue with it. I’ll call you if there are any situations here, so you don’t have to worry."
"I’ll come to the hospital too."
Unexpectedly, Gu Moqian said this, making Ji Wei a bit anxious: "We still don’t know An An’s whereabouts. Can you think of another way? Grandma is well cared for with me watching over her."
Gu Moqian hesitated for a moment, then relented: "Alright."
After hanging up the phone, Ji Wei realized her palm was full of sweat. Not daring to delay, she pressed the gas pedal and headed to her destination.
Gu Moqian stared at the dimming phone screen, feeling that Ji Wei’s words earlier were somewhat odd. After contemplating slightly, he opened a tracking app on his phone.
Seeing the small red dot moving continuously, Gu Moqian’s eyes turned extremely stern.
Ji Wei was not at the hospital. Where is she heading?
Gu Moqian immediately called someone to follow, while he himself got into the car.
When Ji Wei arrived at the location, she briefly wondered if she had gone to the wrong place. Wasn’t this imposing European-style villa William’s residence?
Despite her doubts, Ji Wei directly pressed the doorbell of the villa.
Soon, the door opened automatically.
Worried about her son’s safety, Ji Wei did not hesitate and walked in quickly.
At this moment, William, sitting in the study, was lounging with crossed legs, gripping a goblet.
He watched the computer surveillance footage of the woman walking into the villa, his lips curling up slightly as he brought the wine glass to his lips, taking a few sips contentedly.
Ji Wei was led to the study by the butler.
The blond man sitting on the executive chair was facing away from her, but upon hearing a sound, he turned his head.
William!
Although she had guessed it, Ji Wei still felt shocked and angry.
"Where is An An? Give him back to me!"
Ji Wei took several quick steps forward, unceremoniously grabbing the man’s collar in accusation.
William remained in his cross-legged pose on the executive chair, showing no panic even when his collar was grabbed. Holding the wine glass in one hand, he moved it aside, looking at the woman’s fiery eyes and speaking calmly: "I don’t know where your child is, sorry."
"What did you say?" Ji Wei looked at him in disbelief.
She felt her brain wasn’t working properly.
Someone called her to come here, yet William says he doesn’t know An An’s whereabouts!
William, unfazed, said: "Someone must have deliberately given you false information to mislead you."
"Why would that person do this? What good would it do to lead me here? Unless you cooperated with them!" Ji Wei retorted angrily.
William shrugged: "If you don’t believe me, you’re free to search here. You can even check the surveillance. I think that’s the only way to prove my innocence."
William’s expression didn’t seem like he was lying.
Ji Wei looked at him and froze for two seconds, then suddenly felt deflated.
She had hoped to find An An on this trip; she never imagined things would turn out this way.
Ji Wei lowered her hand, suddenly at a loss for what to do, as a massive sense of disappointment enveloped her, leaving her deeply saddened and more worried about An An’s safety.
William slowly rose from his chair, casually placing the wine glass down, hands shoved in pockets watching her. As the afternoon sun poured in from the window, his tall figure stood against the light. After a moment of silence, he suddenly stepped closer to her.
