Chapter 340: Chapter 340: Shura Field (03)

The ground tore open behind them as they disappeared into the trees, leaving only destruction in behind them.

As they left...the overwhelming pressure began to fade.

Su Qinglan collapsed to her knees, her heart pounding violently.

Her hands shook as she hugged the basket of cubs tightly to her chest.

"Xuan Long..." she whispered angrily, but he was long gone from her sight.

The forest slowly fell into an uneasy silence.

Su Qinglan was panting hard.

She sat frozen in the middle of the forest, her chest rising and falling rapidly, her heart beating so loudly it felt like it would burst out of her ears.

They were gone.

Just like that.

"How... how could they just leave?" she muttered, her voice shaking.

She took a few unsteady steps forward, then stopped.

Chase them?

How could she?

One was a giant snake.

The other was the Lion King.

They had disappeared in the blink of an eye. Su Qinglan felt completely abandoned.

Did they forget about her? Did they forget she was still here?

Her eyes dropped to the ground. The basket of cubs was still there.

The cubs had already finished eating and were now sitting quietly, their round eyes staring at her with strange, confused expressions. Even they seemed stunned, as if asking...

What just happened?

Su Qinglan’s throat tightened.

Her hands clenched into fists.

"This... this is bad," she whispered.

Her gaze darted around wildly, panic spreading through her chest like fire. The forest, which had just calmed down moments ago, now felt terrifyingly empty.

Xiao San was the most unsettled because he had realized that it was his father’s overwhelming aura.

He began hissing softly at his mother, as if asking her what had happened, where his father had gone, why he was so angry. All he wanted was to follow his father.

His little heart was beating very fast. He wanted to chase after him, but he knew he couldn’t. His small body wouldn’t be able to take it.

So he could only look at his mother with pitiful eyes, as if begging her to take him along.

Su Qinglan noticed this and gently coaxed him. "Baby, don’t worry. Everything is fine..." even if nothing was fine.

"Daddy will come back, okay? Don’t worry, nothing will happen," she said as she rubbed his little head.

Finally, Xiao San calmed down and stopped acting restlessly.

Su Qinglan smiled faintly and looked into the distance. Her breathing gradually grew faster.

"What do I do...?" she murmured, completely frantic now. "What am I supposed to do now?"

Just then, footsteps approached her.

Su Qinglan snapped her head up.

Hu Yan rushed out from the trees first, followed closely by Han Jue and Rong Ye. Their clothes were messy, their expressions tense, clearly having sensed the earlier disturbance.

Hu Yan looked around sharply. "What happened here?"

Han Jue frowned, scanning the broken ground and snapped bushes. "Why is the forest like this?"

Rong Ye’s eyes widened. "Where’s Xuan Long?"

Su Qinglan opened her mouth, then closed it.

Her mind went completely blank. How was she supposed to explain this? That Xuan Long almost killed the Lion King?

That the entire mountain was alerted?

That he turned into a giant snake and dragged Shi Feng away?

Her lips trembled.

"I... I..." she stammered.

Hu Yan’s expression grew serious. "Su Qinglan, calm down..."

Su Qinglan felt tears sting her eyes. She couldn’t explain. She didn’t even know where to begin.

Slowly, she lifted her arm.

Her finger pointed toward the deep forest.

That was all she could do.

"He... he went that way," she said weakly.

Everyone froze.

Han Jue looked at the direction she pointed to. "Went... where exactly?"

Rong Ye swallowed. "And with who?"

The moment the silence settled, all of them felt it. This was not anger over something small.

Xuan Long would never release that level of killing intent for a mere argument.

When they had first sensed it, their hearts had nearly stopped. They had thought something terrible had happened to Su Qinglan. That was why they had rushed back without hesitation.

But she was standing there, completely fine and only shaken.

And Xuan Long was nowhere to be found.

Han Jue’s eyes suddenly narrowed.

"Wait," he said slowly. He sniffed the air again. His expression darkened.

"There’s another scent."

Hu Yan stiffened. "Lion King."

Rong Ye cursed under his breath. "Shi Feng."

It didn’t even take a full moment for everything to click.

Han Jue’s lips pulled back, a low growl rumbling in his throat.

"Did that bastard challenge Xuan Long to a shura field?"

All eyes turned to Su Qinglan. Her face burned red instantly. Her fingers tightened against her sleeves.

Then, very slowly, she nodded.

The atmosphere froze.

The expressions of all three men changed at once.

"So it really was him," Hu Yan said darkly.

Han Jue clenched his fists. "That damn Lion King."

They had all seen it before. The way Shi Feng looked at her. Those strange, lingering eyes.

They had endured it for the alliance.

But now...

"He actually dares to compete with Xuan Long?" Rong Ye said sharply.

They all knew what Shi Feng was thinking.

If he won.

If Xuan Long fell.

He would have the right to step into their nest.

Their teeth ground together in fury.

"It would be best," Han Jue said coldly, "if Xuan Long kills that bastard."

Hu Yan nodded without hesitation. "I agree."

Han Jue took a step forward. "I’ll go help him."

Before he could move...

"NO!"

Su Qinglan’s voice rang out sharply.

Everyone froze.

She stepped forward, her face pale but furious, her eyes trembling.

"What are you saying?" she snapped.

"Go and stop him!"

Han Jue frowned. "Lan Lan..."

"We can’t afford any casualties!" she said urgently. "We are already under attack! How are we going to face the Lion Tribe if their king dies?"

Her breathing became uneven.

Her hands shook visibly.

"Do you want a war?" she demanded.

But none of them spoke, because all of them knew in their hearts that they didn’t want to stop Xuan Long at all. They wanted Xuan Long to kill him or at least teach him a good lesson.

Shi Feng had brought this upon himself.

But...

Her voice suddenly dropped threateningly.

"If you don’t go," she said, trembling with anger,

"I will go myself."

That did it.

Han Jue stiffened. "You..."

Hu Yan immediately stepped forward and gently took the cubs from her arms. "Lan Lan, stop," he said firmly. "I’ll carry them."

Han Jue exhaled hard, then bent down and lifted Su Qinglan into his arms.

"Hey!" she protested. "Put me down!"

He started walking, slow but steady, following the direction Xuan Long had gone.

"This is too slow!" she snapped, slapping his shoulder. "I can walk faster than this!"

Han Jue didn’t stop.

"I’m not dropping you," he said grimly.

She struggled again. "Han Jue!"

He tightened his grip slightly. "Save your strength."

As Han Jue started walking at a snail’s speed, all he wanted was to delay the time as much as possible, so when they arrived, Shi Feng would already be beaten black and blue.
