Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off-Chapter 362: The Cruel Witch Doctor
The old witch doctor was preparing to lead the beast tide when a sharp, high-pitched scream echoed through the empty village.
It was the voice of a female.
The Bird Tribe leader stiffened, his feathers bristling.
"A female voice?" he whispered, his eyes wide. "Did they actually abandon a female here?"
The old witch doctor was stunned. He recognized that voice immediately.
His wrinkled brows furrowed in a way that was hard to read, but the Bird Leader didn’t wait for him. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
To any beastman, a female was the most precious treasure. Hearing her scream in agony made his blood run cold.
Without a second thought, the Bird Leader transformed into his massive hawk form. He soared toward the sound and hovered over a secluded corner of the tribe.
But as he looked down, he stopped dead in his tracks. His wings flared out to brake his flight as he stared at the horrifying scene below.
There was a huge, deep pit dug into the ground. Sharp wooden stakes were embedded in the ground.
It was a "dungeon pit," the kind tribes used to punish the worst criminals.
The prisoner would be thrown into the damp, muddy hole and covered with heavy wooden poles, leaving only a tiny gap to breathe and see a sliver of sunlight. It was a slow, miserable torture.
But why was there a female inside such a place?
Suddenly, a massive, evil ferocious beast...a mutated bear roared and slammed its heavy paws onto the wooden poles covering the pit.
With its insane strength, it ripped the poles away and tossed them aside like toothpicks.
Below, Mu Lihua let out a blood-curdling scream.
As the poles were ripped away, the beast’s foul, bloody saliva dripped onto her face. She looked up, her eyes bulging with terror, as the monster stared down at her with hungry, red eyes.
Mu Lihua was completely bewildered. She had been trapped in the dark for so long, wondering why the tribe had gone silent.
She didn’t know the village had been evacuated.
She had been waiting for someone to come and mock her or feed her, but instead, she was face-to-face with a nightmare.
"How... how are you here?" she whimpered, her voice cracking.
The evil ferocious beast didn’t answer. It let out a guttural growl that shook the walls of the pit. It didn’t care who she was; it only saw a piece of meat trapped in a bowl.
The Bird Tribe Leader watched from above, his heart hammering. He saw the blood and the madness.
The darkness of the dungeon pit had been Mu Lihua’s world for a long time.
Ever since her lies were exposed and Su Mingxuan had detained her, her life had become a living hell. She was covered in deep bruises and filth.
Once a proud female, she was now just a bag of bones. Her skin was caked in mud, and insects crawled over her open sores, biting her incessantly.
She was fed only a single piece of stale, rotting meat once a day. She was starving, weak, and broken.
But today, no one had come. The stale meat never arrived.
Instead, the silence of the tribe had been replaced by a chilling, howling wind and the sound of heavy, frantic footsteps that didn’t sound human.
Mu Lihua huddled in the corner of the damp pit, her heart skipping a beat. She tried to make herself small, hoping whatever was outside wouldn’t notice her. But her luck had run out.
The wooden poles above her were ripped away with a violent crash, and she found herself staring into the glowing, red eyes of a massive bear beast...a mindless, evil ferocious beast.
The bear let out a guttural roar and leaped into the pit. The space was small, and there was nowhere to run. Muli Hua scrambled against the muddy walls, her fingernails clawing at the dirt.
"Help! Someone help me!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.
High above, the Leader of the Bird Tribe hovered, his wings beating the air. He saw the female and felt the natural instinct of a beastman to protect her.
He tucked his wings, preparing to dive and snatch her from the pit before the bear could strike.
"Stop."
A cold, bold voice commanded. The Bird Leader looked back to see the old witch doctor standing at the edge of the pit, his gaze detached and icy.
"Don’t save her," the witch doctor said. "She is an evil female. She was locked here for a reason. Let her atone."
Mu Lihua looked up and saw them. She didn’t recognize the birdman, but she knew the witch doctor.
Her eyes lit up with a desperate, frantic hope. "Old witch doctor! Save me! Please! This evil beast is going to kill me!"
Before she could finish, the bear beast struck.
Its massive, clawed paw slammed into her chest with such force that she spat out a spray of bright red blood. Then, with a sickening crunch, the bear bit down on her arm and tore it clean off.
Mu Lihua’s scream was ear-piercing, a sound of pure, unadulterated agony. "SAVE ME!"
She shrieked, looking at the witch doctor with tears and blood streaming down her face. "I am your mate! I am your mate! How can you watch this?!"
The Bird Leader froze.
His mate?
He looked at the witch doctor in total shock.
The old witch doctor didn’t move.
A small, slow smile curved on his thin lips. He looked down at the dying woman as if she were a bug under his feet.
He didn’t speak out loud, but in his heart, he whispered:
Mate? How dare a filthy, useless tool like you call yourself my mate? You were only there to satisfy my instincts. Now, you are just meat.
The Bird Leader watched in horror as the bear beast began to eat Muli Hua alive. It was a gruesome, slow death.
The beast chewed on her shoulder, then her legs, while she was still conscious and screaming.
Slowly, the light drained from her eyes, and her cries turned into wet, gurgling gasps until, finally, there was only the sound of tearing flesh and cracking bones.
