Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off-Chapter 414: They Will Grow Up Loved
Hu Yan ignored their pitiful faces. He began making a paste for marinating the fish. He crushed wild ginger, chili, and onion together on a flat stone.
The paste became fragrant and slightly spicy. He spread it carefully on both sides of the sliced fish. Then he sprinkled salt evenly.
He built another small fire nearby and placed a flat stone on it and added some fish fat, and when it was completely melted he put the fish over it.
By then, the scrambled eggs were almost done. The eggs were soft, yellow, and mixed with red tomatoes. The smell was rich and comforting.
Su Qinglan scooped a small portion and blew on it to cool. She tasted it carefully. Her eyes widened happily.
"So tasty," she whispered.
Suddenly she heard soft whining sounds. "Awoo..." (Mommy, don’t forget us.)
She turned around and saw her three cubs sitting behind the drawn line. They were drooling but did not dare cross it.
Her heart almost melted. They were so sensible and obedient.
She smiled warmly. "Okay, come here. Mommy is calling you. You can cross the line now."
The cubs immediately rushed forward.
She crouched down and fed them little by little. Each small bite disappeared instantly into tiny hungry mouths.
She kept feeding them, laughing softly at their happy expressions. After swallowing, they would open their mouths wide like bird chicks.
She did not even notice how fast the food was disappearing.
Before she realized it, the entire pan of scrambled eggs was gone. All six eggs had ended up inside the three cubs’ round bellies.
Han Jue stared at the empty pan in shock. "That was six eggs," he muttered. "Why are they so hungry?"
He could only shake his head. These cubs were truly growing fast.
Hu Yan laughed and shook his head as well. "Lan Lan, you cannot spoil them like this. The eggs were for you. They can eat meat. They are not delicate."
The cubs instantly looked dissatisfied. Who wanted hard meat? They liked the soft eggs much more.
Xiao Yi even slapped his father’s leg with his tiny paw in protest.
Hu Yan laughed loudly. "Are you here to protect your mommy or eat her food?"
He gently pushed the cub’s head back with his hand. "Do not go near the fire."
The little cub could only flap his paw angrily in the air.
Su Qinglan laughed brightly. "What are you saying? Why can’t my cubs eat eggs? My babies can eat whatever I eat. Good food will not spoil them."
She touched their heads gently. "They will grow up quickly and protect Mommy."
The three males could only shake their heads helplessly. But in their eyes, there was something else. Something like envy.
They had never met a female like her before.
Growing up, none of them were held gently like this. None of them were fed patiently bite by bite. Their mothers were never like her.
Han Jue’s expression slowly darkened. His childhood was harsh. His mother was cold and cruel. He did not want to remember her at all.
Without speaking, he cracked more eggs into the bowl. He began making another batch of scrambled eggs quietly.
Hu Yan’s eyes also softened slightly. His childhood had not been warm either. But looking at his cubs now, he felt grateful.
They were lucky. They had a good mother, unlike him.
Shi Feng stood silently by the fire. He was not mistreated when young, but his mother had died early while giving birth to his younger brother.
And his father, even though he was powerful, did not resist the backlash and died in grief after losing his mate. So he had grown up quickly, forced to become strong without family warmth.
It seemed they had to change their way of thinking. It did not sound good that what they had gone through would be how their cubs would grow up.
It would be far better if they could grow with love and affection. Maybe they could even surpass their fathers.
What did beastmen like them want? They just wanted healthy cubs who could carry their bloodline and legacy and become powerful individuals.
Fifteen more minutes passed.
The smell of grilled fish and scrambled eggs filled the air. The fire crackled softly. The flat stone was hot, and the fish skin had turned golden and slightly crispy.
Su Qinglan suddenly remembered something. She quickly looked at Hu Yan.
"Hu Yan, help me take down the big stone pot. The crab should be ready."
Hu Yan immediately stood up. He carefully lifted the huge stone pot down from the fire and placed it on the ground. Steam rose slowly from inside.
The huge crab had turned bright red after being boiled.
Su Qinglan waited for it to cool a little. After it was no longer too hot, she reached inside and dragged out one thick crab leg.
It was heavy.
She frowned slightly and used both hands to twist it open. The shell was extremely hard. If not for her strengthened body, she would not have been able to crack it at all.
Even so, it still took much of her strength.
Crack.
The shell finally broke open.
Inside, a large piece of white, juicy crab meat was revealed. It looked tender and fresh.
Her eyes lit up instantly. Her foodie hand could not wait at all. Without waiting, she blew on it and took a bite.
The meat was sweet and soft. It had a natural ocean flavor, rich and delicious.
Her eyes widened happily. She immediately gave a big thumbs up sign toward her husbands.
They looked at each other, confused. They did not understand what that sign meant. But seeing her bright expression, they knew one thing.
The food was very good.
Su Qinglan quickly stuffed another bite into her mouth. Then she suddenly looked around.
"Where is Rong Ye? And Xuan Long? Why haven’t they come back yet? The food is already cooked."
