Common Sense Hijack System-Chapter 73
Chapter 73: Chapter 73
Karl freaking out big time with all the attention from Valencia, but he was trying to play it cool. "Yeah, that’s right. But I didn’t ask for this! Back when I was just a cashier at the local store, outta nowhere bam—I got powers. This system popped up, called the Common Sense Hijack System. It... this system can control people’s common sense, their feelings, or... who knows, make ’em do stuff they wouldn’t normally do. And I got quests and skills too... like the SpankSome skill that makes me sound like a perv!"
Valencia gave him this look of disbelief and confusion. "Wait, you’re saying you’re like... a perverted telekinetic with a system giving you quests?"
Karl nodded slowly, feeling more and more awkward. "Yeah, exactly. It’s insane. Now I got a quest telling me I gotta prove I can hold back from getting a boner and thinking dirty thoughts about you and Layla for two full days."
Valencia leaned against a tree, pondering for a moment. "So you’re saying, the system... gives you power, but now you gotta keep your mind outta the gutter for two days straight to level up?"
Karl sighed deeply. "Yeah, more or less. I’m tryna focus on other stuff, but... it’s so hard."
Valencia chuckled, seeing Karl opening up about his confusion. "Well, at least it’s good that the system sets some moral boundaries for now, so there won’t be a round two of Spermberggirl hahaha..."
Karl glared at her. "I’m not just some horny dude! I can control telekinesis, but this hijacking stuff... it’s confusing. And the title? ’Pervert Man’? That’s just... ugh!"
Valencia placed her hand on her hip, as if enjoying Karl’s complaints. "Listen, Karl, you gotta be more focused. If you keep dwelling on stuff like that, you ain’t gonna progress. Don’t let the system control you."
Karl fell silent for a moment, pondering Valencia’s words. He knew he had to be serious. If he kept this up, he wouldn’t get anywhere. "You’re right. I need to focus more to survive this chaos."
Valencia smiled slightly, like she was supporting him. "Exactly. So, about that ’trunk’ in your pants—"
Karl immediately cut her off, his face turning red. "I didn’t do that, Valencia! I told you, it’s just the system! Just the system!"
Valencia laughed softly, her smile growing wider. "Okay, okay. Just make sure you control it, Karl. Don’t let yourself be controlled."
Karl breathed a sigh of relief. "I’ll try. I mean, I don’t really have a choice, right?"
"Sure, Karl. But with weird powers like yours, they’ve been around forever." Said Valencia.
Karl furrowed his brow, "What do you mean?"
Valencia sighed, "The power you possess comes from some strange energy, a force that becomes power based on your desires."
Karl grew more confused, "Desires? What do you mean by my desires-" Karl stopped, he remembered his past. When he always wanted to do something but hesitated, afraid of being seen as different and unusual by others, like when he wanted to be a content creator, not only laziness stood in his way, but also fear of being viewed as odd haunted him, he always fantasized that whatever he did, others would perceive him as normal.
"Am I right?" asked Valencia.
Karl bowed his head, finally understanding that the Common Sense Hijack System really fulfilled his desires, he could grope someone else’s wife’s breasts and be considered normal, he could do whatever he wanted and be considered normal by everyone for a certain period, but he lost to the urge to have sex.
"Don’t be so despondent, if you’re a man who likes to flaunt his genitals and wants his behavior to be considered normal, I don’t mind." Valencia laughed again.
"Tsk.. I’m not that perverted!" Karl crossed his arms.
Valencia, who was joking at first, then said something serious, "You have to be careful, Karl, there are always those hunting people like you with powers like yours."
"Ahem.. stop kidding around, I’m confused with everything you say, just explain everything you know." Karl said irritably.
Valencia nodded, this time her expression turned serious. "Alright. Listen carefully, Karl. The energy that merges with you has been around since ancient times. People like you, who gain power because of their deepest desires, always emerge in history. They become legends—or gods. Some have the power to split rivers, some can create storms, some can even stop time. But, such power always comes with great risks."
"What risks?" asked Karl, although inside him he began to feel uncomfortable.
Valencia continued, "People with powers like yours are always targeted. Some believe that this power shouldn’t be on earth. They call themselves the Common Hero. I’ve met one of them before."
Karl was shocked. "Common Hero? You mean they... are heroes?"
"Not like you think. They’re not heroes in the usual sense. They are hunters. They believe that powers like this are anomalies that can destroy the world, so their task is to eliminate people like you," explained Valencia.
Karl fell silent. "Why? If they think this is dangerous, why didn’t they stop it from the beginning?"
"Because that energy is not something that can be stopped just like that. This energy, no one knows where it comes from, always seeks new hosts. People like you are just mediums. Even after you disappear, the energy will continue to seek out others. They, the Common Hero, can only erase the manifestation of that energy—humans with power," said Valencia, taking a deep breath.
She then continued, "But what makes you different, Karl, is your desire. People like Homo Noctis and Homo Obscura who have powers also come from the same energy. But their ancestors, in ancient times, had a desire to be part of a strong group. Homo Noctis, for example, comes from cold plains with long nights, so all the people of the Noctis tribe have strong bodies and extraordinary resilience, not only that the belief in mysticism also triggers us to give power to others through blood. Homo Obscura, on the other hand, lived in highlands with wild animals everywhere, so they evolved with incredible hunting abilities, until they had great instincts, unfortunately they were focused on the physical until they didn’t have any other abilities other than their physical strength equal to Homo Noctis."
Karl swallowed, feeling slightly inferior. "So... they get their powers from a desire to survive. While I... from a strange desire to be considered normal?"
