Conquest Game: The Aloof Husband is Dangerous!-Chapter 210 - 187: If You Keep This Up, You’re Sleeping on the Couch Next Time!
The night before leaving Zarain, Laura Quincy felt like every bone in her body was being crushed by a certain man, who was practically the embodiment of a beast...
It caused Little Kim to tease her every morning these days, saying she was a little woman basking in a hot romance...
As soon as Laura woke up that morning, she tiptoed around to get up and freshen up. She had to meet a client at 11 AM and needed to prepare the materials in advance.
She could have gotten everything ready last night, then slept in and gotten up leisurely, but...
Her plan was interrupted by a certain man!
During the days he was there, she couldn’t get any serious work done at night; she was always distracted right at the start...
"Oh no!"
Jason Hawthorne lunged and pinned her underneath him.
Laura pushed against his strong chest, "Let me go! I need to get up!"
Of course, Jason wouldn’t let go, "We’re heading back home today; shouldn’t we seize the moment?"
His dark eyes were intensely passionate, and his tone was teasing.
Laura instantly understood, her cheeks flushed red, "You’re so annoying! I have to meet a client at 11; I need to get up and prepare my materials!"
Jason reached over to check the watch on the bedside table, "It’s only 8:46."
Laura glared at him, "Getting up, washing up, and preparing materials take time, stop messing around!"
Jason wasn’t letting go, "Then how about ten more minutes?"
Laura pouted, "If you keep this up, you’ll be sleeping on the couch next time!"
Jason quickly coaxed her in a soft voice, "Just ten minutes, really. Once we get back, I’ll be very busy, often working overtime, and I won’t have much time to be with you and Twinkle, so I want to hold you more now."
He spoke so earnestly that Laura found it hard to refuse.
After a two-minute silence, Laura sighed softly, "Will it really be okay?"
She asked indirectly, but Jason understood, "Just trust me, darling. Don’t worry about what others say. My words are the most sincere, do you understand?"
Laura pressed her lips together, "Yes, but..."
Jason assured her again, "Leave everything to me. All the gossip outside is just people’s jealousy; it has nothing to do with us. If it’s really too much, I’ll arrange for you and Twinkle to go on a vacation abroad, so you won’t be bothered."
Laura shook her head, "It’s okay, I’m not that fragile."
Due to a last-minute call, Jason had to book an earlier flight back home, while Laura and Little Kim returned after she finished her last deal with a client.
After flying to Norcastle, Laura transferred to a flight back to Aethelburg. Not having seen Twinkle for more than a week, she truly missed him!
Since they had agreed to have dinner that night, she hurried out with her luggage, only to hear someone calling her from behind after just a few steps.
She turned around and, to her surprise, saw Stella Jennings.
"I thought I mistook someone else, but it really is you."
"I thought if we ran into each other, we’d pretend not to know each other."
Laura curved her lips into a faint smile, speaking with a light air.
Stella brushed aside the hair on her forehead, "We’re not at the point of cutting off all ties, are we? Or are you so embarrassed to face me after stealing my man?"
There was a subtle sarcasm in her words.
Laura smiled at her, "Often, it’s not women who bear grudges against each other, but because of men. Clearly, it’s something men decide, but women insist on blaming women. Don’t you agree?"
Stella looked her up and down, "You’ve become quite sharp-tongued after just over a month, haven’t you?"
Laura maintained her gentle smile, "Am I not speaking the truth?"
Stella was slightly blinded by Laura’s bright and confident smile, feeling a wave of bitterness rise within. Being mocked by this woman was truly humiliating!
"Laura Quincy, I know you’re proud now. Jason Hawthorne has announced to everyone that you’re the love of his life and promised you forever, but have you ever considered whether men’s promises are really trustworthy?"
Laura wasn’t affected by her words at all, "I trust him."
Simple and firm, as reassuring as her trust in herself...
Stella was momentarily stunned, incredulously raising her eyes to look at Laura opposite her. How could she be so confident?
"Sometimes, overconfidence isn’t a good thing."
She coldly poured a bucket of cold water.
Laura seemed to have prepared for everything mentally, "Confidence is about the person. Miss Jennings, instead of worrying about others, why not think more about yourself."
After saying that, Laura pulled her suitcase and left.
