Chapter 106: Chapter 106: Did You Move Here to Avoid Me?

"Thank you, thank you." After expressing gratitude to the person, the butler came over to kindly persuade Maxim Sinclair back into the car.

By this time, the sobering soup he drank earlier had begun to take effect.

Maxim Sinclair, who was now more than half sober, rubbed his aching forehead and asked the butler sitting in the passenger seat, "Earlier, what did Summer Lowell’s neighbor say?"

"That neighbor said Miss Lowell moved out two days ago, saying she had a friend coming to Stellarion and decided to move in with her friend." The butler explained, handing over the thermos he was holding, "Master, this cup contains more sobering soup; drink a bit more to feel better."

"Hm." Maxim Sinclair took the cup, unscrewed it, and drained the contents in one go. "Tell Assistant Collins to find out where Summer Lowell has moved to."

"Alright, I’ll send him a message right now," the butler agreed while observing his expression, tentatively suggesting, "Master, it’s getting late. Shall we head home?"

Maxim Sinclair nodded and leaned back in the seat, "Let’s go back."

The next morning, Maxim Sinclair, suffering from a hangover, sat at the dining table on the first floor, sipping on the porridge the housemaid had specially prepared for him.

Assistant Collins walked through the living room and approached the dining table, placing a file folder in front of Maxim Sinclair.

Maxim Sinclair swallowed the porridge, glanced at the folder by his side, and looked up to ask Assistant Collins standing nearby, "What’s this?"

"Yesterday, I received the butler’s message that you asked me to investigate Miss Lowell’s current residence; I also checked into the friend she’s living with. All related documents are inside."

"Well done." Maxim Sinclair didn’t immediately reach for the folder but patiently finished the porridge in his bowl before taking the folder and pulling out the papers inside.

"Vivian Sullivan? This name seems familiar, and so does this face." Maxim Sinclair slapped the resume with a photo onto the table, looking up at Assistant Collins, "Have you seen this person before?"

Assistant Collins nodded, hesitating for a long moment before speaking, "If I recall correctly, when we went to Leonia previously, we encountered Miss Sullivan."

Maxim Sinclair stared at the photo on the table for a while, "Although she looks familiar, I can’t recall where I met her. Do you remember?"

"I do, but I’m somewhat unsure," Assistant Collins lightly shook his head, "However, President Jennings should remember this Dr. Sullivan; there seems to be some story between them."

"Oh, really?" Maxim Sinclair raised an eyebrow, "If that’s the case, things might get interesting."

After finishing speaking, Maxim Sinclair placed the papers back into the file folder and set it aside, "I’ve gotten what I wanted. As for the rest, I’ll inquire about Charles Jenson later."

Assistant Collins tidied up the file folder and then pulled out his phone, checking unread messages, and asked Maxim Sinclair, who was silently drinking water, "There’s still a meeting scheduled for this morning, President Sinclair, you need to head to the company now."

"No rush," Maxim Sinclair grazed the edge of the water cup, "Notify them to change it to a video meeting tonight."

Maxim Sinclair’s smile curled up slightly, "I have to meet someone. I have no time for a meeting."

Assistant Collins saw his gaze fall on the file folder, and instantly understood who he was going to meet.

...

"Summer, the weather’s nice today, shall we go shopping later?"

Vivian Sullivan leaned on the balcony railing, closing her eyes as she took in a deep breath, feeling delighted.

Summer Lowell came to the balcony carrying two cups of coffee after just finishing laundry, handing one to Vivian Sullivan, "Shopping’s too tiring. It’s rare to have a weekend without overtime, I’d like to stay home and sleep well."

"What a waste to sleep away a weekend with such nice weather!" Vivian Sullivan shook her head in disagreement, "Let’s go shopping. I’ve been here for a while and haven’t properly explored. I want to fully experience the hustle and bustle of The Eastern Metropolis."

"Can’t argue with you on that, but..."

Ding dong~ Ding dong~

Just as Summer Lowell was about to ask where they should go shopping, the doorbell suddenly rang.

The two exchanged glances, and Vivian Sullivan lightly tapped her forehead, "Almost forgot, I ordered next-day delivery fruits online. It’s probably the fruits arriving. I’ll go get them."

Vivian Sullivan said, immediately handing the coffee cup back to Summer Lowell before rushing to the entrance.

As soon as she opened the door, Vivian Sullivan froze.

The person standing at the door was none other than Maxim Sinclair.

Of course, Vivian Sullivan knew Maxim Sinclair; she had seen his photo at Summer Lowell’s place.

But him showing up here was quite odd.

Vivian Sullivan quickly concealed the complex expression on her face, her eyes cautious yet still politely greeted Maxim Sinclair, "Hello, who are you looking for?"

Maxim Sinclair pulled out a business card from his pocket and handed it over directly, "Vivian Sullivan, Dr. Sullivan, right? I’m Maxim Sinclair, Summer Lowell’s former boyfriend and boss. I have something to discuss with her."

The balcony wasn’t far from the entrance, and Summer Lowell, vaguely hearing Maxim Sinclair’s voice, couldn’t resist her curiosity and walked over.

Almost as soon as she appeared, Maxim Sinclair noticed her.

Vivian Sullivan barely had time to hide Summer Lowell, so she had to turn around and wave, "Summer, this gentleman who claims his surname is Sinclair says he’s here for you."

Summer Lowell stopped and coldly looked at Maxim Sinclair standing outside the door, "How did you know I lived here?"

"It wasn’t hard to find if I wanted to." Maxim Sinclair smiled openly and then politely asked Vivian Sullivan, "May I come in to talk?"

Before Vivian Sullivan could respond, Summer Lowell immediately refused, "You are not coming in."

With that, Summer Lowell walked to the door and left Vivian Sullivan with this, "I’ll take him downstairs for a chat. If you meet him again, don’t open the door."

And with that, Maxim Sinclair was forcibly dragged by Summer Lowell downstairs. After surveying the surroundings, she stared at Maxim Sinclair with gritted teeth, "Speak, what do you want after putting in so much effort to find me?"

Maxim Sinclair slowly sorted out the wrinkles on his sleeve caused by Summer Lowell’s tugging, "The weather’s nice today, can’t I just ask you out for coffee?"

"I don’t like coffee. Perhaps President Sinclair should find someone else; I’m sure there are countless women lining up to have coffee with you." Summer Lowell coldly mocked, "If there’s nothing serious, then I’m heading back. I hope President Sinclair won’t disturb me again. If you push it, it won’t look good for anyone."

"Hold on, did I say you could leave?" Maxim Sinclair pulled on her arm, "Did you move here to avoid me?"

"You’re overthinking it!" Summer Lowell scoffed, pulling her hand away.
