Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 124: Justin Pushes His Luck, Maxim Explodes in Fury
Summer Lowell shook her head with a smile, speaking up on behalf of Justin Huxley: "Senior Justin went to get me a drink, he just left not too long ago, I guess you just missed each other."
"That’s good," Tina Huxley nodded in satisfaction, "You are my brother’s date, since he brought you here, he should naturally take good care of you. If he neglects something, just let me know, and I’ll help you teach him a lesson!"
"He wouldn’t, Miss Huxley, you’re too kind," Summer brushed aside the complicated emotions in her heart, using the practiced fake smile she had honed while socializing with Noah to humor Tina, "Senior Justin is very considerate, I’m somewhat taken aback by how well he’s treating me."
Tina was very satisfied with this answer, especially since Summer said it in front of Maxim Sinclair.
It was practically perfect.
"I’m glad you like it, Miss Lowell," Tina, feeling the description wasn’t enough, intentionally embellished the story, "You wouldn’t know, but my brother has been bothering me these days, consulting with me about attending this party with you and making sure to dress well so that no one would say you two don’t match."
Summer let out an awkward chuckle, clenching her left hand into a fist behind her back in silent exertion.
This scene was suffocating. Could someone come and rescue her from this awkward atmosphere!
Fortunately, it seemed the heavens indeed heard her plea.
As Tina was in the midst of her excitement, the Sinclair family butler approached Maxim Sinclair: "Young Master, Old Master Sinclair requests your presence."
"Understood," Maxim exchanged a few pleasant words with the person he was talking to earlier, then came over to call on Tina, "Let’s go, come with me!"
Tina, brimming with joy, sweetly agreed and gathered up her skirt, pressing beside Maxim and taking his arm: "Let’s go."
Before leaving, she struck a victorious pose at Summer: "Miss Lowell, we have something to attend to, so we’ll head over first. You might want to wait a bit, I’m sure my brother will be back soon."
Summer, who wished for nothing more than for her and Maxim to disappear, nodded readily: "Yes, alright, he doesn’t like leaving me alone for too long either."
Hearing this, Maxim discreetly cast a glance back at her, grinding his molars unnoticed in the shadows before striding forward.
In her pretty yet wear-inducing stiletto heels, selected especially for the event to make a statement, Tina nearly stumbled to the ground: "Maxim, slow down a bit, mind your steps, these shoes are tiring, I can’t keep up with you."
Maxim, however, ignored her and continued ahead. Seeing this, the butler tried to smooth things over: "Miss Huxley, perhaps you could walk a bit slower? Let the young master go on ahead. There’s an urgent matter up ahead requiring his prompt attention."
"Alright then," Tina reluctantly released his arm, "You go ahead, I’ll catch up with you later."
When Justin Huxley finally returned, he brought unwelcome news for Summer: "The Alan you wanted to meet isn’t here today. Apparently, a delayed flight means he won’t be able to wish Old Master Sinclair a happy birthday until midnight."
Alan coming at midnight?
But Summer couldn’t possibly feel comfortable staying here until midnight!
In fact, she didn’t want to stay here any longer at all.
Especially not with seeing Maxim getting cozy with that woman.
Reading her thoughts, Justin handed her a glass of sparkling water: "If you don’t feel like staying any longer, later on, after I wish Old Master Sinclair well, I can take you home."
"Alright, thank you, Senior Justin."
"You’re welcome," Justin patted her shoulder, "You can hang around here, the scenery of this little garden isn’t bad, and it’s nice and cool now at night. Rest for a bit, and after I’m done with the formalities, I’ll come fetch you and take you home."
Since so many people had come to wish Old Master Sinclair well, it was an hour later by the time Justin finished.
Plus, the manor was far from where Summer lived, and by the time he dropped her off, it was already late at night.
Summer got out of the car, speaking to Justin through the car window: "Senior Justin, thanks so much for today. Get home safely."
"I know, head on up, I’ll wait until I see your lights come on before leaving," Justin smiled gently.
"No need, Senior Justin, it’s late, you should drive back quickly. You have work in the morning," Summer waved her hand, signaling for him to go.
But in the next moment, Justin abruptly got out of the car: "I’m still a bit uneasy, I want to personally see you upstairs, is that okay?"
At this late hour, Summer naturally wasn’t at ease about having him escort her upstairs, fearing he’d make an excuse to stick around. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Really, it’s not necessary. My company set up this place for me, the elevator goes straight to my unit, it’s very secure," Summer shook her head with a smile, gently reminding Justin, "And besides, I live with a friend; it’s so late she’s probably asleep. I don’t want to wake her."
When one tactic failed, Justin quickly tried another, removing his jacket and draping it over Summer: "I noticed the wind made you shiver a bit, wear this jacket, don’t catch a cold."
"It’s just a few steps, I’ll reach home as soon as I’m in the elevator, I won’t catch a cold," Summer said, trying to hand the jacket back.
But Justin was faster, pinning her hand: "Why don’t you listen? Your dress is so thin, what if you catch a cold?"
With that, Justin insistently wrapped the jacket tighter around her. Watching him fuss over the clothes, Summer couldn’t help but say, "I can do it myself."
"Don’t move," he brushed her hand aside, leaning in slowly.
Seeing he was about to kiss her, Summer quickly stepped back in a sudden inspiration, pretending to sneeze.
"See, I told you it was cold, and you wouldn’t listen," Justin, without a hint of embarrassment, chivalrously stepped back, "Go on up quickly."
Upon hearing this, Summer didn’t linger a moment longer, hurrying into the elevator to escape.
From the corner of the street, in a Bentley with all its lights off, Maxim watched the two of them deeply, his eyes dark and unreadable.
In the front passenger seat, Assistant Collins subtly observed Maxim’s expression through the rearview mirror and couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
[Summer, oh Summer, President Sinclair looks like he’s on the edge of erupting.]
Exhausted beyond words, Summer filled the bathtub with hot water, ready for a comfortable soak. Afterward, she donned her robe and walked out.
She never liked attending these kinds of parties. Exhausting was one thing, but having to be mindful of her formal dress at the party kept her from eating much, leaving her stomach growling painfully now.
Humming to herself, Summer headed to the kitchen, even though it was late, she felt a need to make herself a simple snack.
But then...
