Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 209: Justin Huxley Wants to Take Summer Lowell Abroad
When Summer Lowell was brought to The Huxley Residence by Tina Huxley, Justin Huxley was also there.
She looked at the familiar figure in the courtyard, feeling a heaviness in her heart.
This morning, Justin mentioned over the phone that he had to meet a troublesome client and might not be home until late at night.
But now it’s only afternoon, and he’s already back. Even if he didn’t meet the client, he should typically be at the company assisting Tina’s father with business matters at this time.
It’s very likely that he was called back by Tina, given his unusual presence here.
Tina glanced at the approaching Justin and then at Summer, who was keeping her head down and seemed visibly uneasy, and sneered with schadenfreude, "Now you’re scared. What were you up to before?"
Justin glared at her and gestured with his face: "Mother is upstairs in the study painting. She wants to see you as soon as you arrive. She has something to discuss."
Tina, wholeheartedly wanting to stay downstairs and watch the scene unfold, was reluctant to leave. She glanced at Summer, who still had her head lowered, and added mischievously, "It’s okay, I’ll handle this afternoon’s affair for you. After all, I was the first eyewitness. To prevent you from being deceived, I must keep an eye on the situation."
Justin lost his patience and walked over, pulling Tina towards the living room, "Summer and I can handle matters ourselves. You don’t need to worry about it. If you continue to make a fuss, I’ll really get angry!"
Justin had always been very fond of her, but when he gets truly angry, Tina dared not disobey.
But this time, since Justin was angry at her because of Summer, Tina felt uncomfortable and muttered through clenched teeth, "I’m doing this for your own good. Don’t let her deceive you!"
"I know you’re doing it for me. Please settle down. This is my issue, and I’ll handle it myself."
Glancing around, Justin felt that this wasn’t the best place to talk, so he turned back, took Summer’s hand, and led her to his room on the third floor.
After entering the room, Summer tossed her bag aside and looked up to meet Justin’s gaze with calm defiance. "On the way back, Tina should have told you everything, right? There shouldn’t be much I need to add. So you can start asking questions now, and I’ll explain everything."
"Let’s not rush into that matter," Justin gently pushed her to sit on the sofa, then personally fetched a pair of soft slippers from the room, placing them by Summer’s feet. "I know Tina’s habits well. Once she starts shopping, she goes to extremes. You must have visited quite a few stores today, right? Are your feet tired? Take off the high heels first."
Summer evaded his hand, bending down on her own: "I’ll do it myself. You go sit down. Once I’ve changed my shoes, we can continue talking."
Once Summer had changed her shoes, Justin brought over two cups of coffee, handing one to her: "So, how was it? The other day, Tina mentioned several bridal shops she’d recommend while taking you. I checked them out, and they all looked pretty good. Did you find anything you liked today?"
Summer shook her head, "None of them quite suited my taste. There’s no rush. The wedding date hasn’t been set yet, so there’s plenty of time to keep looking. But don’t you have any questions for me? Didn’t you see how upset Tina was?"
"I’m not concerned about her being upset; I’m concerned about you. Did you suffer today? Did Maxim Sinclair bully you?"
As Justin spoke, his fingers gently caressed Summer’s hair, his eyes filled with an obscure shadow, "Perhaps we should leave Stellarion and go overseas, far away from Maxim Sinclair’s influence."
"But your dreams and your career are all in Stellarion! And Uncle Huxley wouldn’t agree to let you leave since you help him so much here," Summer shook her head in refusal.
Justin seemed slightly out of control, suddenly pulling Summer into his arms, lightly nibbling on her earlobe, "But I can’t beat Maxim Sinclair right now, and I can’t protect you. What use am I here if I can’t protect you? I feel like a useless failure!"
"Don’t say that. Nothing really happened today. I got angry earlier because Tina seemed to hold some grudge against me. Nothing truly happened today. She must have misinterpreted something from her perspective."
"Really?" Justin released his embrace, cupping Summer’s face with both hands, looking at her with undisguised excitement, "You’re fine, aren’t you? If Maxim Sinclair truly did anything today, just say the word, and I’ll drive over and beat him up right now."
"I’m really fine. Can you not react so impulsively like some hot-headed youth," Summer said with a smile, shaking her head, then reached out to hold Justin’s hands, changing the subject, "By the way, about the wedding dresses I saw today, none of them were that great. How about when you have some free time, you accompany me? I trust your taste more."
"Of course, I have good taste. Choosing you as my wife is proof enough of that," Justin laughed heartily, pulling Summer down onto the plush carpet with him. "By the way, when Maxim Sinclair saw you today, did he say anything strange?"
"Yes, he always says something strange whenever he sees me. I just ignore him! If I could stand up to him, I would have left already. But he’s always surrounded by bodyguards, acting so domineering and bullish!"
Summer expressed her disdain without reservation.
Justin listened quietly, the smile on his face deepening.
...
"What are you doing?" Mrs. Huxley put down her art tools, walking over to see Tina, who had just splashed a cup of coffee onto her recently completed painting, her face twisted in anger. "Do you know how long this painting took me? And you just went and splashed coffee on it?"
Tina put down the cup, her chest heaving with rage, "The person in this painting looks like Summer."
"If you can’t stand her, go upstairs and throw a cup of coffee in her face right now. Why ruin my painting?"
Mrs. Huxley was furious, grabbing a tissue in an attempt to wipe away the coffee stains, but the painting was already damaged beyond repair.
After a while, Mrs. Huxley looked at Tina, who sat silently by the window with her head down, and let out a long sigh, "I truly owe you."
Mrs. Huxley pulled up a chair, placing it beside Tina and sitting down, "What happened? You were fine when you left this morning, laughing and chatting. How did you end up like this when you got back? Isn’t Miss Lowell staying at her friend’s place? Why did she suddenly return today?" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"She’s guilty, being cozy with Maxim Sinclair in the bridal shop. I caught her. Now, who knows how she’s explaining it to Vaughn."
