Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 28: Rachel Nash’s Dilemma
Summer Lowell looked determined: "We can’t let Maxim Sinclair get this bid. We have to rely on the Four Seasons project to break into the domestic market as soon as possible. If we miss this opportunity... it’ll be much harder to do so in the future."
"Absolutely," Noah sighed, "If he snatches this bid, I might have to go back to headquarters and personally explain to those shareholders."
"President Norris, if the bid is lost, the most at risk isn’t you, it’s me. I don’t want to lose this job." Summer’s face cleared of its earlier gloom, "But don’t worry, I have great confidence in the Four Seasons project. As long as nothing is set in stone, anything is possible."
After speaking, Summer raised her coffee cup and clinked it against Noah’s, then smiled cheerfully: "Here’s to our success in advance."
Then Summer tilted her head back and drank her cup of coffee in one go. She then said to Noah, who was still somewhat stunned, "I’m going to have a meeting with the Four Seasons project team members to gauge their thoughts. Maxim Sinclair’s list definitely has our designers on it, I need to keep a close watch and make sure he doesn’t poach anyone from under me."
Noah finally snapped out of it and laughed heartily, finishing his own half cup of coffee: "Alright, go ahead and do your thing. If you encounter any difficulties, feel free to reach out to me. I’ll give you the green light."
"With President Norris’s words, I feel a lot more assured."
Summer put down the empty cup and left Noah’s office.
After the office door closed, Noah withdrew his gaze, turned, and looked at the distant, prominent Sinclair Group Tower outside the window. After a long pause, he muttered to himself, "Maxim Sinclair, Summer Lowell might not be that easy to handle!"
Sinclair Group, President’s Office.
Maxim Sinclair, with nothing better to do, asked the secretary for a kettle to water the row of potted plants by the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Special Assistant Collins rushed in, holding some documents: "President Sinclair, good news, our people have poached two more excellent designers."
"Hmm," Maxim replied absentmindedly, "I’ve heard quite a bit of similar news lately, I’m getting tired of it. Is there anything fresh or unique?"
Fresh or unique?
Special Assistant Collins was momentarily stunned but quickly understood his meaning: "Currently, there’s nothing new. The conditions you’ve set are very appealing; almost no designer would refuse such good terms. Besides, joining Sinclair Group itself is a huge lure."
"Well said," Maxim turned and gave him an approving look, "Anyone with foresight would choose to come to Sinclair Group. Only a fool would reject my offer."
Always perceptive, Special Assistant Collins detected a hint of something unusual in his tone.
This tone... seemed a bit resentful?
Special Assistant Collins shook the thought from his mind, opened the documents, and walked over to Maxim’s side: "The Finance Department sent over an urgent document, saying the bank needs it this afternoon. They’ve called me several times, urging me to deliver it to you."
Maxim put down the kettle, took the document and pen, and after a careful review, signed his name at the bottom.
"One more thing," Maxim handed the document back to Special Assistant Collins, stopping him as he was about to leave, "What’s Stellart’s reaction? It’s been three days now; even if Noah is useless, he should know by now that I’m competing with him for the Four Seasons bid. So, has there been any reaction?"
"Yes, he called the design director over for a talk, and also sent people to find out what we’re doing."
"Called the design director over for a talk," Maxim mused over this phrase, smiling enigmatically, "Did they come to any useful conclusion?"
"I don’t know what was discussed, but after the design director left his office, he seemed even more motivated and even called the Four Seasons project team for a meeting. We couldn’t get the details of the meeting, but the team members came out evidently more energized."
Special Assistant Collins carefully considered his tone, unobtrusively observing Maxim’s reaction.
Maxim’s expression didn’t reveal much emotion, but Special Assistant Collins could keenly sense a clear displeasure in his demeanor.
"Looks like Summer is also afraid of me poaching her designers." Maxim absently picked up a nearby ornament and toyed with it absentmindedly, "Go tell Rachel Nash to try her best to poach people from Stellart, preferably from the Four Seasons project team. If she can poach them to the point that the project collapses, I’ll increase her year-end bonus tenfold, from my personal account."
...
"Seriously, did President Sinclair actually say that?" Rachel Nash stood up from behind her desk, walked over to Special Assistant Collins, "That’s quite bold! You’re not joking with me, right?"
Fresh from the Finance Department, Special Assistant Collins casually pulled out a chair and sat down: "I wouldn’t dare misrepresent his words. That’s exactly what President Sinclair meant. An end-of-year bonus tenfold, from President’s personal account, provided you can collapse Stellart’s Four Seasons project team."
"An end-of-year bonus ten... tenfold..." Rachel counted on her fingers several times before sighing in awe, "Men, huh~"
"I warn you, you’d better watch your mouth." Special Assistant Collins glanced up, speaking lightly.
"Don’t worry, I’m just expressing my thoughts in front of you. But, as they say, there’s hate because there’s love. If President Sinclair plays this hard, are you sure he’s really over that person?"
Her question caught Special Assistant Collins off guard. He scratched his head, looking confused: "I don’t know, can’t tell. I just know President Sinclair isn’t happy, but what’s really on his mind, I have no idea."
"If President Sinclair is still interested in that person, I wouldn’t dare take that money." Rachel shook her head, looking hesitant.
"But President Sinclair’s orders have been given, requiring you to focus on poaching members of the Four Seasons project team." Special Assistant Collins emphasized, "If you don’t put in the effort, you know President Sinclair’s temper."
"That’s why I’m in a bit of a dilemma right now!" Rachel rubbed her eyes, then leaned closer to Special Assistant Collins with a humble expression, "Do you have any good suggestions?"
"My suggestion is," Special Assistant Collins paused for a moment, "to follow President Sinclair’s instructions. If you need to take the fall, then take the fall. Even if you truly need to take the fall, you really have no choice."
"That’s true." Rachel nodded, fully agreeing, "I’ll go contact Stellart’s designers right away and try to poach those top-notch designers as soon as possible."
"Then you keep busy with that, I’ll head back for now."
"Take care, and remember to update me with any news." Rachel insisted again, unwilling to give up.
Special Assistant Collins waved an "ok" sign without looking back, "I’ll be sure to notify you if there’s any news."
