Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 36: Summer Lowell Is Ready to Risk It All
At night, the Sinclair Group was still brightly lit, as Assistant Collins sprinted down the hallway clutching a tablet.
"Make way, I have urgent news!"
At the entrance of the CEO’s office, the secretary, who was holding documents and coming out from inside, stopped Assistant Collins, who was sprinting in disarray, and gestured to the shiny wall nearby: "Image! Going to meet President Sinclair looking so messy, are you looking to resign?"
"I have urgent news!"
Despite his words, Assistant Collins tidied his disheveled clothes and hair in front of the wall.
The bewildered secretary, who couldn’t understand why he was in such a hurry, helped him straighten his shoulders: "What could be so urgent? I just sneaked a peek before coming out; President Sinclair looked quite fine."
Assistant Collins shook his head mysteriously: "After I share this news, President Sinclair’s mood will change."
"You’re exaggerating again; you always make things sound dramatic!"
Chatting away, Assistant Collins also straightened his clothes and hair. He sighed deeply and lightly shook his head at the secretary who casually commented: "Sigh, you just don’t get it."
"You get it." The secretary rolled her eyes, turned on her heel with the documents, and walked away.
Assistant Collins smoothed out the creases on his tie and knocked on the door before entering: "President Sinclair, something has happened."
Behind the desk, Maxim Sinclair, who was leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed, opened his eyes: "What’s the matter?"
Assistant Collins pointed to the phone on the desk: "The Public Relations Director called you earlier, but you didn’t pick up, so he called me instead."
"Oh, I accidentally left it on silent," Maxim Sinclair picked up the phone, turning on the sound while glancing at Assistant Collins, "What made you so anxious?"
"Stellart, they’ve bribed the media to claim we’re using unethical competition methods."
"Heh, Stellart’s reaction time is quite slow, I’ve been hitting them for a while and they finally cried out?" Maxim Sinclair chuckled nonchalantly, "I thought it was a big deal, just let the PR department handle it."
"The PR department has already contacted the media, but Stellart came prepared this time, and the timing they chose is quite tricky, so it’s hard to delete it all at once." Assistant Collins recalled what the Public Relations Director said, carefully repeating it.
Maxim Sinclair still showed little expression: "If it can’t be deleted, then don’t. Leave it be, Stellart only has such limited abilities. They wouldn’t dare do much, I still haven’t settled the old scores with them!"
In his words, Maxim Sinclair’s voice carried a hint of gritted teeth.
Hearing this, Assistant Collins felt secretly alarmed and couldn’t help but express concern: "The PR department has always carefully maintained the group’s reputation, a situation like today’s has never occurred. President Sinclair, shouldn’t we address it?"
"No need," Maxim Sinclair shook his head, got up, grabbed his coat, and draped it over his arm, "Let’s give the stage to Stellart. I want to see what tricks Stellart is going to pull."
"The PR department and I speculated that it’s probably because Stellart is upset about us poaching two of their active designers, and they want to pressure us in the public opinion to vent their anger."
Assistant Collins turned around, accompanying Maxim Sinclair as they walked out, talking as they went.
After hearing this, Maxim Sinclair let out a cold laugh: "With Stellart’s capability? Wishful thinking, countless companies have used poaching as a tactic, Noah pulling a stunt like this, does he really think the netizens are kids that can be easily fooled!"
"But it’s really unpleasant! Should we deploy some paid commenters to adjust the online opinion? Or," Assistant Collins paused, observing Maxim Sinclair’s expression, carefully suggesting, "At the time Stellart backstabbed us, there was some evidence left. If we expose it..."
Maxim Sinclair suddenly stopped, looking at him with a meaningful expression: "I didn’t realize my Assistant Collins had such talent; if you’re willing, I could transfer you to the PR department?"
"No, no," Assistant Collins shook his head vehemently, "I was just making a casual remark, just pretend you didn’t hear it."
"I have my plans regarding that old affair, don’t make decisions on your own, and remind the PR department as well not to play any tricks I’m not fond of."
Maxim Sinclair withdrew his gaze and continued walking.
Assistant Collins, relieved from a false alarm, secretly sighed and caught up with him: "Alright, I’ll call the PR Director soon, telling him not to react at all, and I’ll also have him document everything Stellart is up to." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Hmm."
Maxim Sinclair spoke, then paused again, and Assistant Collins felt a slight tightness in his heart, holding his breath waiting for his words.
But Maxim Sinclair said nothing, only "Hmm" before continuing to walk forward.
On the other end, Summer Lowell was anxiously waiting and called Noah: "President Norris, how’s the situation now? Has anyone from the Sinclair Group contacted the media to retaliate?"
In fact, she wanted to ask whether Maxim Sinclair would expose her past undercover actions.
After all, what she did back then was more egregious than what the Sinclair Group is accused of now, and more attention-grabbing for netizens.
Noah was equally worried about this issue; he glanced at the messages from his subordinates and reassured Summer Lowell: "So far, not yet. Earlier the Sinclair’s had some paid commenters counterpointing ours, but since ten minutes ago, they suddenly stopped."
While Summer Lowell felt relieved, she also felt a slight unease.
She was terrified that Maxim Sinclair still had some powerful trick up his sleeve waiting for her: "How is our arranged trending topic doing now?"
"The initial twenty-something minutes were good, but now it’s not doing well, pushed down by some influencer’s hype. But we’ve already obtained what we wanted, so we can bow out now."
"That’s good," Summer Lowell clutched the item in her hand, after a thorough recollection confirming no omissions, "Let’s exit now, early execution, early withdrawal, but President Norris, did we operate discreetly enough? Won’t the Sinclair’s discover it was us pulling the strings behind the scenes?"
Her question stumped Noah.
After half a minute, Noah finally responded: "I don’t know, the abrupt trending topic, anyone observant could tell there’s something off. But I’m already arranging people to divert attention, looking for someone to take the fall."
The method sounded less than ethical, but it was the only option.
In truth, both Summer Lowell and Noah were still afraid Maxim Sinclair might retaliate by revealing her undercover history.
Summer Lowell pondered for a moment before finally speaking: "If Maxim Sinclair does bring up my past undercover stint, we should strike while the iron is hot and use that hype to promote Stellart, since free publicity shouldn’t be wasted."
"But you need to consider, doing so will ruin your reputation," Noah couldn’t help but remind her.
