Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 57: Who Really Sent the Roses?
"Definitely not," Summer Lowell quickly shook her head, "You can deal with the flowers however you like, just don’t put them in my office."
Assistant Fletcher nodded in agreement, silently noting to himself: "The receptionist wasn’t wrong, it seems Director Lowell really dislikes the person sending those flowers."
"By the way, go find Ming Yue and have her collect the new ideas for the Four Seasons project and send them over. I need them."
"Alright, Director Lowell, I’m on it."
During the video conference today, after Summer Lowell’s work report, the people from headquarters obviously nitpicked with some unreasonable suggestions.
But there was no choice, as the main investments came from those two shareholders. Even though their suggestions were unreasonable, Summer Lowell could only grit her teeth and comply.
"This job is really driving me crazy," Summer Lowell threw the file in her hand onto the table in frustration, "If I’d known, I wouldn’t have come to take this position. There’s enemies everywhere; who knows when it will end!"
Just then, her phone suddenly rang on the table. As Summer Lowell picked up the phone and saw the caller ID, she couldn’t help but smile.
"Justin, how come you have time to call me?"
Justin Huxley chuckled softly on the other end of the line, "You must be so busy that you forgot? Check the time now."
Summer Lowell, not understanding, glanced at the time: "It’s just past eleven. What’s wrong?"
"You’re really busy, huh? Did you forget what you said last night?"
Justin Huxley’s voice floated over the phone, "I’ll remind you kindly. Last night someone said they’d treat me to dinner. I don’t know if she was sincere, but I took it seriously!"
"Of course I meant it!" Realizing it, Summer Lowell quickly explained for herself, "Inviting you to dinner is totally genuine, as true as can be."
"Just teasing you. Look how nervous you are." Justin maintained his laughter, "Are you busy at noon today? My friend recommended a restaurant near your company; he gave it high praise. If you’re free, shall we go together? My treat."
"I’m free, of course, but let me say beforehand, this meal’s on me."
Summer Lowell reached for the file from Assistant Fletcher, flipping through it as she spoke, "I’ve been back home a few months earlier than you, so let me be the host and treat you to a meal, as a token of gratitude. You know, back when we were abroad, if it weren’t for your care, I might not be where I am today."
"Summer, why are you getting sentimental?" Justin chuckled softly, his tone becoming serious, "Back then, it was just some trivial things. You don’t need to keep it in mind. I’ll send you the address; just come over after you’re done."
"Alright, see you then."
Summer Lowell hung up the phone, picked up a pen, crossed out a few ideas, then closed the file and handed it back to Assistant Fletcher: "Take this to Ming Yue, and tell her that the ideas I crossed out are in line with the latest instructions from headquarters. As for the others, I’ll continue communicating with headquarters later, so she shouldn’t feel any pressure."
"Understood, Director Lowell." Assistant Fletcher took the file and left the office.
At exactly noon, Summer Lowell arrived at the private dining room of the restaurant Justin Huxley mentioned.
Justin had been waiting for some time.
"Sorry, Senior, for making you wait so long." Summer Lowell apologized with a smile, pulling out a chair and sitting opposite Justin.
"No worries, I just arrived too." Justin smiled, standing up and pushing a tablet toward her, "Take a look, choose what you like to eat."
Summer Lowell, having never been to this restaurant before, casually picked a few signature dishes, then pushed the tablet back: "The dishes here look quite exquisite."
"Not only exquisite, but the taste is top-notch too."
After they ordered, Justin held a teacup and, seemingly casually, asked, "Do you not like roses?"
"What?"
The question came so unexpectedly that Summer Lowell had a moment of confusion.
But soon, she remembered the 999 roses delivered to the company this morning.
Could it be...
Realizing it in hindsight, Summer Lowell tentatively asked, "Were the flowers delivered to my company today... from you, Senior?"
Justin raised an eyebrow lightly: "Looks like you have plenty of admirers, Summer!"
Hearing him say that, Summer Lowell’s expression turned extremely awkward.
Could these flowers really be from Justin?
She originally thought it was another tactic from Maxim Sinclair.
But thinking again, how could Maxim still be sending her flowers?
If it weren’t for Justin showing up last night, she’d probably have been locked up by Maxim in Varden Villa again.
However, speaking of it, this situation now is rather awkward.
She didn’t know how to respond.
Although she once had a crush on Justin, time had eroded those feelings entirely.
Now in Summer Lowell’s heart, there was likely only gratitude left for Justin.
Summer Lowell smiled awkwardly, hinting, "I don’t have many admirers; you’re my Senior, after all, these flowers..."
Her implication was clear; in her heart, she only regarded Justin as a good relationship Senior.
Justin understood the subtle hint in Summer Lowell’s tone and smiled softly, "How would you feel receiving 999 roses? And what was your colleagues’ reaction?"
"What?" Summer Lowell sensed something was off, "Justin, I think I don’t quite understand what you mean."
"It’s like this," Justin put down his chopsticks, took a napkin and lightly wiped the corner of his mouth, "I returned home not just for work; the main reason is actually for someone."
"For someone?" Summer Lowell, her awkwardness yet to fade, only wanted to quickly change the topic, "What kind of person would make you change your life plans and rush back home?"
"A girl I want to marry, to spend the rest of my life with," Justin smiled embarrassedly before explaining, "You know, I’ve never had the same style as those around me, and I’ve never pursued anyone, so I really don’t know how to express my feelings."
"So?" Summer Lowell looked even more confused; what does this have to do with sending her roses?
Justin shook his head with a chuckle, "Actually, it’s a coincidence. I called you today after handling matters at your office building and happened to hear about you receiving 999 roses."
"Senior, just go straight to the point of what you want to ask."
"Since you’re the only female friend of my age that I know, and she has a somewhat similar character to yours, I wanted to ask you how you’d feel receiving roses, and then infer if the same approach might win her over."
