Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Summer Lowell Struggles to Hide Her Fatigue

The two sisters in the room saw this and laughed together.

But soon, Vivian Sullivan put away her smile, stood up, walked over to Summer Lowell, cupped Summer’s face with both hands, and asked empathetically, "Are you unhappy here? Why have you lost so much weight, and your eyes don’t shine like they used to."

They’ve been friends for many years, so familiar with each other that it’s beyond words.

Summer was afraid she couldn’t hold it together in front of Vivian, so she took advantage of tidying her pants to avoid Vivian’s scrutiny.

Very quickly, Summer managed to temporarily suppress her emotions, but still couldn’t completely hide the dejection in her voice, joking half-heartedly, "This is Stellarion, you know, big city, fast-paced, high pressure, much harder to handle than in Leonia."

Vivian clearly didn’t believe her story, she half-squatted, staring straight at Summer, "This isn’t the Summer Lowell I know, the Summer I know is a fighter who grows braver with setbacks."

She knows her too well, a flash of anxiety crossed Summer’s eyes, but she quickly returned to normal, with a bitter smile, speaking half-true and half-false, "Where I was before didn’t have as intense competition as it does here now, just stay a while longer and you’ll understand, the competition pressure in Stellarion really is much greater than in Leonia."

Summer knew she couldn’t just deny it all in front of her, so she described her current situation half-true, half-false.

Seeing a hint of belief starting to show on Vivian’s face, Summer quickly added, taking advantage of the moment, "The designers in this branch office are all incredibly talented, none of them respect me, even getting them under control took a ton of effort, and combined with the intense work here, my eyes lack luster purely because I’m exhausted."

She mixed coaxing with deception, using the experience she’s gained from dealing with clients over the years to give Vivian quite a performance.

Having known each other for so many years, how could Vivian not see through her earnest performance meant to keep her from worrying?

"If you feel the work pressure is too much, then just return to Leonia quickly, we don’t need to seek great wealth, just don’t live so tiredly."

Vivian spoke sincerely, and Summer almost teared up at her words.

Afraid of exposing herself in front of her, Summer took advantage of drinking water to suppress the emotions that were surging up. After a moment, she cleared her throat and changed the topic, "I saw many patients still waiting outside when I came in, so I won’t hold you up anymore, let’s continue talking at lunch." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"Alright, I still have patients to see, since I’m in Stellarion now, let’s gather more when there’s time."

"Okay, then I’ll go ahead."

Summer, carrying her bag, walked to the door but suddenly turned back, placing one hand on the desk, and asked Vivian, "Have you settled down yet? If not, want to live with me?"

Vivian’s eyes lit up at this, teasingly asking Summer, "How many rooms do you have? You know I sleep badly, I can only sleep alone, if we share a bed, I’ll definitely kick you!"

This remark reminded Summer, who frustratingly clapped her hands, "That’s a pity, I live in a single apartment with just one bed, how about this, I’ll have Assistant Fletcher find a suitable place near both our workplaces so we can live together. This way, we can see each other every day and have someone close to talk to after work."

"That sounds great, I’m waiting for your good news, once you find the place, I’ll move in right away to keep you company."

Vivian agreed with a smile.

The two were so engrossed in chatting, they didn’t notice time passing by, and the patients waiting at the door impatiently knocked and came in to urge, "Doctor, is it not done yet? We’ve been waiting for a long time!"

"Alright, alright, I’m leaving now, sorry for taking too long."

Summer apologized repeatedly to the person before quickly leaving the room.

Once outside the room, Summer glanced around, looking for Assistant Fletcher.

Not far from the staircase in the corridor, Assistant Fletcher was on the phone, and Summer patiently waited for her to finish before walking over, "Let’s go, we can still make it to the half-hour meeting."

Assistant Fletcher nodded, reaching out to take the item from Summer’s hand, "Just now Designer Moonlight called, asking when you’ll return."

Seeing so many people waiting for the elevator, Summer thought for a moment, then led Assistant Fletcher to the stairs for a walk, "Why did Moonlight call about that? Is there something urgent?"

"Not really urgent, said there’s a joint jewelry design event, and the partner contacted her, she wants your opinion."

"So what did you say on the phone?" Summer asked Assistant Fletcher.

"I said we’re already on our way back, Moonlight said she’d get the necessary materials ready," Assistant Fletcher paused for a moment before continuing, "Moonlight also said someone might come from headquarters in the next couple of days to inspect work, she heard this in the big restroom."

Summer chuckled, "All of them, really well-informed, something I found out about just last night and you all know it already by morning."

"I just found out too, it’s their information that’s well-informed," Assistant Fletcher quickly explained.

Summer rolled her eyes at her, "Your info isn’t well-informed, shouldn’t you reflect on yourself?"

"I should reflect," Assistant Fletcher immediately nodded in acknowledgment, "As your right hand, I need to make sure I stay well-informed."

While laughing and chatting, the two went down the stairs. As they reached the last step near the corner, Summer was busy talking to Assistant Fletcher and didn’t notice someone coming from the corner, the person walking quickly and accidentally bumped into Summer.

Summer was knocked off balance by the forceful collision, and Assistant Fletcher quickly caught her.

After Summer steadied herself, Assistant Fletcher immediately checked her foot to ensure it wasn’t sprained, and then she breathed a long sigh of relief.

But before she finished exhaling, she noticed Summer’s expression seemed a bit off.

"Director Lowell, are you okay?"

"Oh, what a coincidence today, I didn’t expect to run into Secretary Lowell!"

Hearing someone speak the same time as herself, Assistant Fletcher looked up, surprised, finding it was the same man who accidentally collided with Summer.

The man looked at Summer with a rather odd expression.

But it was clear from one glance, it was the look one has when seeing someone familiar.

Assistant Fletcher turned her face back, looking at Summer.

Summer awkwardly tugged at the corners of her mouth, "President Jennings, I’m sorry for bumping into you just now."
