Crave You Forever-Chapter 112: Hyung!
The ride to the company was quiet but comfortable. Haeun sat in the passenger seat, one hand resting lightly over his stomach while the other fiddled with the strap of his bag. The city moved past them in blurs of neon and headlights, the world still busy despite the late morning hour.
Yeongsoo glanced at him from time to time, as if making sure he wasn’t uncomfortable. When they finally pulled up in front of the tall glass building, he put the car in park but didn’t unlock the doors right away.
"You’ll call me if anything happens, right?" Yeongsoo’s voice was calm, but there was an edge of insistence to it. His eyes softened when Haeun looked up at him. "If you feel unwell, if something comes up, if someone so much as looks at you wrong, I’ll come running."
Haeun blinked, then gave a small smile. "You’re acting like I’m about to go into a battlefield."
"It is a battlefield.." Yeongsoo muttered under his breath, frowning at the towering building like it had personally offended him.
Haeun chuckled, shaking his head. "I’ll be fine. It’s just a quick check-in. I want to see my brother too."
Yeongsoo sighed, clearly reluctant to let him go. Then, as though deciding he wasn’t going to waste more time dancing around it, he leaned in slightly. "At least give me a kiss before you go."
Haeun’s ears warmed, but he leaned forward anyway, pressing a quick kiss to Yeongsoo’s lips. "There. Happy?"
"Not nearly enough.." Yeongsoo murmured, stealing another kiss before Haeun could pull back.
When he finally let go, Haeun pushed lightly at his shoulder, embarrassed but smiling. "People will see."
"Let them. You’re mine anyway." Yeongsoo’s voice was low, almost possessive. But then he sighed and brushed a strand of hair out of Haeun’s face. "Go on. I’ll wait until you’re inside."
Haeun opened the door, stepping out carefully. He glanced back at Yeongsoo, who gave him a small nod of encouragement.
True to his word, Yeongsoo didn’t drive off immediately. He stayed there, watching, waiting until Haeun walked through the front doors of the company and disappeared inside before finally pulling away from the curb.
The glossy glass doors slid open, and the familiar hum of the company wrapped around Haeun as he stepped inside. It had been some time since he last walked through the lobby, but the moment his presence was noticed, the atmosphere shifted.
"President Yoon, welcome back!" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Good morning, President!"
"It’s so good to see you again, President Yoon."
Bows and warm smiles greeted him at every turn, a ripple of acknowledgment moving across the lobby. Some voices carried genuine fondness, others carried the sharpness of formality, but all held a note of respect.
Haeun lifted a hand in a gentle wave, his polite smile in place as he returned nods here and there. Inside, though, he still felt that odd twinge, the awareness that his role had never been just about himself, but about what the name Yoon represented.
"Boss!"
A familiar, clear voice cut through the greetings. Eunja, sharp as ever in her neatly pressed blazer and pencil skirt, walked swiftly toward him, heels tapping the floor with confidence.
She bowed once, then straightened, her eyes lighting up at the sight of him.
"You should’ve told me you were coming, boss.." she said, half-chiding, half-relieved. Her tone carried the same balance of warmth and professionalism she always showed him. "If I had known, I would’ve prepared the schedule properly."
Haeun smiled faintly. "It wasn’t planned. I just... felt like I should drop by. Check on things. Check on Taeun."
Her lips twitched knowingly. "I see." She adjusted the tablet in her arms and gestured lightly toward the elevators. "President Taeun is in the office right now. I’ll escort you."
As they walked side by side, she briefed him in a steady, businesslike voice. "This morning, the design team submitted the final drafts for the campaign. The marketing department has a proposal waiting for your review when you’re ready. Taeun-ssi has been keeping things in order, but... everyone will be happy to see you today."
Haeun’s gaze softened. "He’s been working hard. I know it isn’t easy stepping in like that."
"That’s true.." Eunja agreed, her tone gentler now. "But you should also give yourself credit, boss. The company is still moving forward because of the foundation you built. Don’t forget that."
The words settled something heavy in Haeun’s chest. He didn’t reply right away, only nodding.
The elevator ride to the top floor was brief but filled with greetings as more staff noticed him. Bows, warm smiles, respectful murmurs of "President Yoon." Haeun acknowledged them all, though inwardly he still felt that tug of distance
Are they greeting me, or the position?
Eunja’s voice brought him back. "Boss, if at any point you feel tired, just say so. I’ll reschedule whatever comes up. Your health comes first."
Haeun chuckled softly. "You’re starting to sound like someone I know."
She arched a brow, though her lips curved. "Then we are both right."
When they stepped onto the executive floor, the atmosphere grew noticeably quieter, more refined.
The hallway gleamed with awards and framed achievements, each one a reminder of the company’s legacy. At the very end stood the president’s office, the office that was rightfully his, but for now, was Taeun’s to manage.
Eunja stopped just before the door and looked at him carefully, her expression softer than the professional mask she usually wore. "He’ll be happy to see you, boss. Everyone will. It’s been a while."
Haeun let out a small breath, steadying himself. His fingers brushed against the cool handle of the door, grounding him.
"Thank you, Eunja.." he murmured.
"Always, boss.." she replied, bowing her head slightly.
With that, Haeun pushed the door open, ready to face Taeun.
The moment the door opened, Taeun looked up from behind the desk. The sleek president’s office, with its polished dark wood and tall windows, seemed almost too serious for him.
Yet there he sat, shoulders squared, glasses perched lightly on his nose as he skimmed through a stack of reports.
"Hyung!"
