Chapter 354: Madness

Braelyn’s POV

My grip tightened on the sink so hard my knuckles turned white. Another urge to throw hit me again, and my gut twisted violently. He panicked, rushing inside. The sink was left on, the running water washing everything away.

As if on instinct, his hand reached for my back, but before his fingertips could graze my clothes, I backed away. My eyes turned cold.

"Don’t fucking touch me.." I hissed at him.

Raphael froze for a moment. Several emotions rushed through his eyes, like he was trying to process what was going on. I wasn’t going to stay around and wait for him to process whatever was going on in his head.

I switched off the sink faucet and headed for the door, but I had barely made it to the doorway when his hand clamped around my wrist like a vice. My heartbeat immediately dropped, a chill running through my stomach.

"What are you doing, Raphael? Let go of me.." I snapped at him. My body trembled slightly at the cold look in his eyes, but his grip only tightened. A low chuckle escaped his throat, like it came from the depths of hell.

My teeth were already gritted, and I was trying my absolute best to break free from his grip, but he wasn’t budging in the least.

Raphael’s fingers raked through his hair. "Are you pregnant, Lynn? How many months?" he demanded. My eyes turned cold as I frantically thought of an escape. There was no one in sight, which made this more terrifying.

I didn’t answer him. My silence seemed to infuriate him.

"Answer the goddamn question, Braelyn.." his voice boomed. I flinched at his tone.

"I have no reason to answer you," I spat. "If I am pregnant or not, it has absolutely nothing to do with you." I doubled down.

Raphael gave me a long look. His grip tightened like he wanted to break my bones.

"So this is why you ran," he scoffed. "You were already carrying his bastard and pretending to be so fucking holy.." he snickered. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

He spoke with a certainty that made my stomach churn. "It is useless to deny it, Lynn," he continued. His temper seemed calmer on the surface, but his grip didn’t relax. "I saw from when you stepped into the hall. I saw when you hesitated to take the wine.."

Then a wide smile curled on his lips, one that made him look devastating in a twisted way. He felt like a tragic hero, like the entire world had wronged him.

My eyes widened, fear crawling up my spine. He had been watching me. I couldn’t stop the trembling. The psychotic look in his eyes was enough to show he was slowly losing himself.

"It’s fine," he chimed. His cold fingers grazed my skin, and my body crawled with instant revulsion. "It does not matter who the father is or why you ran. All that matters is that you are here, Braelyn.."

My heart started to race. I was scared of what was going on in his mind.

"Raphael, please let go of me. You don’t have to do anything crazy..." I said quietly.

His gaze flickered with amusement, and he let out a dry laugh.

"It’s already too late for that.." he said. "You can keep the baby. He can even be our heir. Just come back home. If you got pregnant with him, then we can definitely have more children in the future. As long as the baby is yours, it doesn’t matter. I would be the best dad.." Raphael rambled, like he was offering me the best deal.

I wasn’t buying it. The last thing I was going to do was believe this psycho.

Raphael didn’t wait for my answer and was already dragging me out of the restroom. Every step he took felt like a step closer to hell.

Only the devil knew what he planned to do to me away from public eyes. I fought and clawed, but his grip held firm.

"I don’t need you to be the father. The baby has a father.." I cried out.

"Just give me a divorce and end this marriage. Amelia already has your child. It is fair now. Let’s stop torturing ourselves..." I cried.

He didn’t even look my way. He was pulling me in the opposite direction from the hall. I didn’t want to get farther away from there. Panic clawed at my chest.

With the last bit of strength I had, I bit hard into his hand. He flinched, letting go, and I bolted for the door leading to the party. But I had greatly overestimated my strength.

Raphael didn’t take long to recover, and in a matter of seconds, he caught up with me. My legs were lifted off the floor, and I was thrown over his shoulder. I wailed and screamed, scrambling to break free, but his grip only tightened.

"I don’t want a divorce. It is never happening.." he deadpanned.

I had lost all sense of control now. Raphael’s footsteps were steady and determined.

I didn’t want to leave with him. He was probably going to keep me somewhere Lucien couldn’t reach. I drummed against his back.

"Are you losing your mind? This is kidnapping. The Voss family would never forgive you for this. They can ruin the company.."

"I already lost my mind, Lynn," he replied. "The Voss family can destroy everything. It is fine as long as we are together. You shouldn’t overwork yourself. It is bad for the baby..."

At that point, I knew nothing could get through to him. I continued to thrash and scream, even if I knew it was useless and no one would hear me. Tears poured from my eyes. He didn’t tell me to stop. He just kept walking.

The door opened to the back of the event centre. The cold winter air brushed against my skin. Raphael turned, heading for his car.

The closer we got to his car, the closer I felt to the gates of hell. I screamed louder until my voice went hoarse, praying that maybe someone would hear me over the loud music and end this madness.
