Chapter 10: Charge!

Creed moved cautiously, his steps light and controlled as he navigated the ruins with a sharp gaze.

His brand-new red spear rested firmly in his grip, its smooth shaft familiar in his hands despite only owning it for a short time.

His breathing was steady, but his senses were on high alert. Every small sound, every flicker of movement in his peripheral vision, made his muscles tense.

He knew better than to let his guard down in a place like this.

The deeper they traveled away from the bastion, the more dangerous the surroundings became.

The once occasional sight of quasi-stage 1 beasts had turned into a frequent occurrence.

Everywhere he looked, remnants of old civilization lay in ruins—collapsed buildings, shattered roads, rusted vehicles frozen in time.

Among these ruins, shadowy figures moved—creatures lurking, watching, waiting.

Their glowing eyes shimmered in the dim light, filled with an unsettling intelligence that made Creed's skin crawl.

It was difficult enough to avoid running into them every few seconds.

But he didn't stop. He didn't attack either. He didn't even spare them a second glance.

Why?

Because these creatures weren't worth his time. Quasi stage 1 beasts were nothing but small fry at this point.

If he wanted to make a real profit, if he wanted to test his summon's strength properly, he needed to find something bigger. Something that would fetch more.

Something worth killing.

And so, he continued forward, his focus sharp, his mind set. But as he walked, a strange thought crept into his head.

'I honestly didn't expect Lilith to be this strong.'

When he first summoned Lilith, his first thought was that she would be useful—a reliable partner, someone to watch his back. Maybe a bit powerful, but that was already it.

But reality had completely shattered his expectations.

Lilith wasn't just useful. She was ridiculous. She was overpowered!

Creed had seen the difference firsthand.

Lilith was only a stage 0 summon, still in the early stages of her growth. By all logic, she shouldn't even be close to the strength of a quasi stage 1 beast.

Yet she had utterly destroyed that shaggy wolf.

There had been no struggle, no drawn-out battle. Just one punch, one flash of lightning and the wolf's head had exploded.

Creed almost felt bad for it.

Almost.

Then he remembered how much Lilith ate.

'Yeah. No wonder she was so damn strong.'

This girl was basically a walking black hole for food. And the food was none other than himself!

It made perfect sense. Such ridiculous appetite had to hint at an equally ridiculous potential, right? Or all his sacrifices would be for nothing!

It made perfect sense.

Still, what fascinated Creed the most wasn't just her raw physical strength. It was her lightning.

Purple lightning—fast, majestic, and filled with overwhelming power. It was terrifying and deadly.

It was exactly the kind of ability he had always wished he had awakened!

'If I had that kind of talent... I'd be unstoppable.'

A sigh left his lips as he shook his head. No point in thinking about it now.

But just as he was about to continue forward, he collided into something soft.

His face pressed into warm, fluffy silk. His mind blanked.

What was this?

It smelled... nice. Like flowers after a fresh rainfall. It was also soft, bouncy and comfortable.

And way too pleasant.

Creed blinked, his thoughts stuttering to a stop. Then realization hit him. He had walked straight into Lilith's wings. Her feathery, plush, incredibly soft wings.

Wait.

Why did Lilith stop walking?!

Panic flashed through him. His heartbeat quickened. And then he heard it.

Growl!

A low, guttural growl. Not close. But not far either.

And it was deep. Not just deep—heavy.

A sound that vibrated through the air, thick with a primal menace that made the ground itself feel unsteady beneath his feet.

Creed's blood ran cold.

Slowly, carefully, he pressed himself against the ruined wall beside Lilith.

They waited. And then, it stepped into view.

Again, it was a wolf.

But not the usual kind. It was smaller than the shaggy furred one from before. More compact.

Its fur was a pure, shimmering white, like fresh snowfall under the morning sun.

Its muscles were lean but powerful, shifting beneath its skin with every graceful step it took.

And its eyes... They burned with intelligence!

It wasn't just a mindless beast. This creature knew what it was doing.

Creed felt his breath catch. Because even though this wolf was physically smaller than the last one...

The pressure rolling off its body was nearly twice as strong. The air felt heavier like an invisible force was pressing down on him, making his movements feel sluggish.

His fingers twitched.

This was it.

This was a real Stage 1 Dimensional Beast!

For a split second, fear tried to creep into his heart. But he shoved it down just like before.

No hesitations. No second guessing!

With a swift motion, he raised his Dimensional Bracelet and activated the scanning feature.

A thin pulse of energy flickered outward. A second later, glowing text appeared in his mind.

[ Dimensional Beast Identified: Low Stage 1 Snow Wolf. ]

Creed's grip on his spear tightened. He carefully observed the wolf's surroundings.

There were no other wolves. No pack. It was alone.

Creed's stomach twisted with a mixture of excitement and nervousness.

This was the chance he had been waiting for. If they could kill this thing it would be a huge win!

He sucked in a slow breath, forcing his nerves to settle. Then, he turned to Lilith. She was already staring at him.

Her violet eyes glowed with anticipation. She wanted to fight. She was just waiting for his signal.

Creed's lips curled into a grin.

'Alright then.'

No more waiting. No more hesitation. He took a deep breath. His pulse raced.

And then—

His voice boomed across the ruins.

"CHARGE!"

Lilith exploded forward, her entire body crackling with purple lightning.

Creed dashed after her.

The Snow Wolf whipped around, eyes narrowing, and then it roared in fury and lunged to meet them.

The battle had begun!
