Chapter 56: Buying Techniques! [Bonus]

[This is a bonus Chapter for hitting our second powerstones goal! Keep voting!]

Creed stepped out of the Adventurer Union with a foolish, almost idiotic grin plastered across his face.

His entire body practically radiated joy, and his steps were so bouncy and springy that he looked like a kid who had just won a lifetime supply of candy.

He walked with his chest puffed out, his eyes gleaming with pure, unfiltered happiness, and a huge, satisfied smile that made it clear nothing in the world could ruin his mood.

Not today!

His brain, of course, was going completely wild with ridiculous thoughts.

’I’m finally a rich young man! Me! Creed! 120,000 credits, baby!’

That number rolled through his mind like a heavenly symphony, filling every part of his soul with pure euphoria.

This wasn’t just about money; this was about freedom!

He no longer had to live like a broke adventurer struggling to survive on the scraps of society.

He was no longer part of the bottom-feeders of the world! Now, he could actually buy things without feeling like he was one bad purchase away from bankruptcy!

But the most important reason why he was so happy?

Debt.

He could finally clear his stupid, soul-draining debts and start fresh! Even in his past life, he had hated owing people money.

It made him feel like he was carrying a mountain on his back, constantly reminding him that he was not truly free.

And ever since he came to this world a week ago, it had been one crushing debt after another.

Owing people left and right, struggling to even afford a basic meal, constantly having to scheme and survive just to avoid getting into even more trouble. But now?

That part of his life was over!

With a long satisfied sigh, Creed glanced around the bustling streets of the city, his mind now drifting toward what to do first.

He had two major priorities; invest in his strength or find a decent place to live.

Both were important.

If he didn’t get stronger, then all this money would just be temporary. After all, this was a dangerous world, and the only way to truly survive and thrive was by having power.

But at the same time... he was so, so tired of sleeping in hotel rooms, always worried that his feeding sessions with Lilith and Tierra was resounding through the hallways!

A proper place to live would give him stability, comfort, and peace of mind!

For a moment, he stood there deep in thought, torn between the two choices.

Then he made his decision. He would follow the path in front of him.

Right now, he was already closer to the Empire Enterprise branch, where he would be able to purchase the resources he needed.

If he wanted to become stronger, that was the place to start.

And since he was rich now, Creed did something crazy.

He ordered a shuttle ride. A luxurious, comfortable, super fast shuttle!

Because why walk when he could enjoy life a little?

For the first time ever, Creed felt like a true young master, casually riding through the city instead of dragging his exhausted body through crowded streets.

He leaned back in the cushioned seat, enjoying the smooth, effortless movement of the shuttle, and sighed in pure bliss.

’This... this is the life.’

Five minutes later, Creed stepped out of the shuttle with a huge smile, stretched his arms like a king surveying his territory, and marched into the Empire Enterprise building with excitement boiling in his veins.

Now, it was time to buy resources that would skyrocket his strength!

After witnessing the saber techniques of the red haired youth after Lilith’s tribulation, as well as the combat styles of his own teammates, Creed had realized something crystal clear;

He needed his own techniques!

Proper, powerful techniques that fit his style and abilities.

He greeted the clerk at the front of the techniques section with a friendly smile.

"Hey, I’m looking for Stage 1 lightning techniques. Where can I find them?"

The clerk, a well-dressed woman with sharp eyes, nodded and gestured toward the right side of the massive hall.

"Stage 1 elemental techniques are categorized by attribute. You’ll find lightning-based techniques on the fourth row to the right. Just follow the signs."

"Thanks!" Creed said, giving a small salute before walking toward the designated area.

When he reached the Stage 1 lightning techniques section, he stopped in awe.

Thousands of techniques!

An entire wall of tomes, neatly arranged and labeled, categorized by type, difficulty, and potential attainment limits.

Techniques were ranked based on their attainment potential, which was the highest level of mastery someone could achieve in that technique. The levels were:

Faint (Basic mastery)

Partial (Above average)

Profound (Highly skilled)

Peak (The highest mastery possible for that stage)

Sublime (So powerful it could surpass basic techniques of the next stage!)

A Peak Stage 1 technique had the power of a Faint Stage 2 technique. A Sublime Stage 1 technique was comparable to a Partial Stage 2 technique!

Which meant... choosing the right one was crucial.

Although peak and sublime stage techniques were rare and extremely expensive, a good profound stage technique was already an immense boost in strength once mastered completely.

Creed’s eyes scanned the shelves, his mind racing with possibilities.

Then, one technique immediately piqued his interest.

Creed’s fingers brushed over the smooth, polished cover of the tome he had just picked up.

The moment he saw the title, Thunderclap Orb: A Profound Grade Lightning Technique, he knew he had to check it out.

Flipping it open, his eyes quickly darted across the detailed description, and almost immediately, his eyes lit up.

The Thunderclap orb was a lightning based technique that surprisingly... didn’t specialise in speed. It didn’t specialise in piercing power either.

Instead, it specialised in it’s astounding explosive might!

Explosion upon collision!

Not just a normal explosion, but one of the best detonation effects among all Profound Stage 1 techniques!

Creed’s expression immediately shifted from awe to delight.

He could already imagine it; blasting enemies away, launching them into walls, sending them flying like ragdolls!

This was the kind of destructive chaos he could definitely enjoy. He nodded to himself, stuffed the tome into his cart, and turned around, his next destination already set in his mind.

Now that he had an offensive lightning technique, it was time to find a proper spear technique.

Using the markings on the ground to guide himself through the massive store, Creed quickly navigated toward the Spear Techniques section.

The moment he stepped in, he was greeted with row upon row of thick, detailed tomes, each containing a different type of spear technique.

Some focused on sweeping strikes, others on precise thrusts, and there were even a few that were completely acrobatic, meant for those who could spin and flip through the air like maniacs.

Creed, however, had one simple goal: brutal efficiency.

He had a solid strength, and his physique would only grow stronger in the future, it was smart to take advantage of that.

His eyes slowly scanned the hundreds of techniques before he finally landed on one with a straightforward but powerful name.

Pierce.

Yes. Just Pierce.

No extra words, no fancy adjectives, just pure, raw thrusting power.

He picked up the tome and read through the description. The technique was as simple as its name implied.

It didn’t teach any flashy maneuvers or demand any weird postures, it just increased the piercing power of his spear by an insane amount!

’That’s what I’m talking about!’

Satisfied with his choice, he threw the Pierce tome into his cart and, without hesitation, made his way to the final and most important section; Movement Techniques.

Now, this part...

This part was tricky.

Speed was one of Creed’s greatest strengths currently, but having raw speed wasn’t enough.

If he didn’t know how to use that speed properly in combat, he would just be fast for no reason.

He needed a technique that would allow him to take full advantage of his high-speed stats.

And so, Creed spent a long time flipping through movement techniques.

Some focused on evasive maneuvers, others on direct charges, and a few were more acrobatic, meant for dodging and counterattacking at the same time.

Then, after way too much time spent overthinking, he finally found the one.

Triple Pounce.

It was a three step movement technique, and each step was faster than the last.

The first pounce was already fast—a burst of movement designed to instantly reposition.

The second pounce was even faster, giving him a sudden acceleration boost right after the first pounce.

The third pounce was the fastest of them all; an explosive movement that could close gaps or completely escape danger before an enemy even realized what happened!

Now this... this is what I need!

Creed let out a small, satisfied grin and tossed the Triple Pounce tome into his cart.

With all three techniques chosen, he marched back toward the front counter and greeted the clerk once again.

"I’m done. What’s the total price?"

The clerk, the well dressed woman with sharp eyes, glanced at the tomes, quickly scanned them, and then calmly announced, "That will be 55,000 credits."

Creed let out a deep, dramatic sigh.

"Yeah, yeah... I already knew it would be expensive," he muttered under his breath, his soul crying as he begrudgingly wired over his hard earned money.

A small beep echoed as the credits were deducted, and just like that, his account balance took a massive hit, dropping down to 65,000 credits!

Still a lot of money... but nowhere near as satisfying as 120,000!

Shaking his head, he turned around to leave—

BUMP.

His shoulder collided hard against someone else’s, both of them stumbling slightly from the impact.

"Ah, sorry about that," Creed said instinctively, already turning his head to see who he bumped into.

The other person also muttered, "No worries, my bad," and turned toward Creed.

The moment their eyes locked...

Creed’s entire expression froze.

His heart skipped a beat, his brain screeched to a halt, and before he even realized what he was doing, his mouth acted on its own.

"You?!"

The other person’s eyes widened in shock.
