Chapter 63: System Upgrade Complete!

Creed’s eyes widened in pleasant surprise. The system upgrade was finally complete!

It had been so long since it started that he had honestly forgotten about it.

With everything that had happened; the secret realm, the fight with the monkey, the whole mess with Alfonzo’s ridiculous interest rates, he had pushed the system upgrade to the back of his mind.

And now, out of nowhere, it was done.

Creed rubbed his chin, his thoughts racing as he remembered something important.

The system had been upgrading ever since it absorbed that sliver of Primordial Energy from the curse mark.

It had not only used that energy to improve his cultivation stage, allowing him to finally break through and become a Bronze-level Awakened, but it had also absorbed all the remaining Primordial Energy to fuel its own evolution.

His gaze shifted to his hand, where the ominous black curse mark still faintly pulsed against his skin.

And that’s when the dumbest idea ever popped into his head.

’...Should I just go around hunting curses?’

For a split second, he actually considered it.

I mean, if one curse had given him this much Primordial Energy, imagine what would happen if he collected more!

He could level up insanely fast!

His system could get even more upgrades!

Hell, he might even get another broken ability like Primordial Link or Damage Transfer!

Creed’s eyes gleamed.

"Heh... What if—"

Then his brain caught up to his stupidity.

’...Wait. Hold on. Time out.’

This wasn’t some get-rich-quick scheme.

This was Primordial Energy. The stuff that was so insanely rare and powerful that even top-tier Awakened organizations would go to war over it.

And what was the only reason he got some in the first place?

A curse mark.

A deadly, ominous, incredibly dangerous mark that he still didn’t fully understand and that even his system couldn’t clear away completely.

Creed’s mind went blank for a second.

’...Am I stupid?’

If he kept absorbing more, wouldn’t the curse just keep growing? What if it became so strong that every Beast King could sense him?

What if he became some kind of walking beacon of death?!

...Yeah, screw that. Creed shook his head violently, erasing the thought from existence.

’Nope. Not doing that. Not today, Satan.’

With a deep breath, he focused back on the real excitement; his system upgrade!

He quickly brought up his interface, silently praying that it had given him something ridiculously overpowered.

A flood of bright text immediately appeared before him.

[DING! System Upgrade Complete!]

[Congratulations! The Primordial Dominion System has evolved!]

[Host has received 10 Free Stat Points!]

[Host has received 10 Free Primordial Essence!]

[New Skill Unlocked: Damage Transfer!]

Creed’s eyes practically sparkled.

’Oh?! This is already looking good!’

The 10 Free Stat Points and 10 Free Primordial Essence were already a massive win.

Stat points meant instant growth. No need for grueling training, no need to waste time farming weaker beasts, just raw power, ready to be assigned!

And Primordial Essence?

That stuff was even better. He still wasn’t completely sure about its full potential, but every time he used it, it had boosted his power by an absurd amount.

But the real prize?

That new skill. Creed’s lips curled into a grin.

"Damage Transfer, huh?"

The name alone was already screaming ’broken ability’ at maximum volume. Without wasting time, he pulled up its description.

And when he read it, his grin stretched ear to ear.

.....

[Skill: Damage Transfer]

[Description: Allows the Host to transfer any damage taken to any of the Host’s summons, or to transfer damage from a summon to the Host, completely negating the damage on the original target.]

.....

Creed blinked. Then he blinked again. Then he let out a slow, amazed whistle.

"Oh. Ohhh, this is dirty."

He was officially broken!

Creed stared at the skill description in disbelief.

He had already confirmed that his summons, as Primordials, had a terrifying regeneration ability that was far beyond what was normal.

The best proof of this was Lilith.

Back in the Verdant Night Rift, her entire arm had exploded. It wasn’t just a cut or a broken bone; it was gone.

Completely obliterated. And yet, she had fully regenerated inside his chest tattoo in less than half an hour!

Sure, she had been insanely hungry afterward, to the point where Creed had felt like he had an angry, starving beast growling inside his very soul, but still!

That kind of recovery speed was just ridiculous.

And now, with this Damage Transfer ability?

Creed’s imagination immediately went wild.

He pictured himself in a battle. His opponent was a top tier fighter, maybe some overpowered villain with a massive greatsword.

The guy’s eyes burned with pure bloodlust as he delivered a devastating, full powered slash straight at Creed’s chest!

And just when it seemed like Creed was about to be sliced in half by the monstrous attack...

BOOM! The attack landed... but the wound instantly vanished!

Creed stood there completely unharmed. Not a scratch. The crowd gasped in shock.

The women watching clutched their chests, their hearts pounding as they stared at him in admiration.

"So cool!"

"He’s completely untouchable!"

"His body is so strong and unbreakable—just like his unwavering heart!"

Creed’s lips curled into a confident smirk. He slowly raised his hand, brushing off invisible dust from his jacket, as if to say, "Was that all?"

Meanwhile, in the background, Lilith was screaming inside his soul.

’YOU BASTARD! STOP SENDING ALL THE DAMAGE TO ME! I’M HUNGRY!!!’

Creed snapped out of his fantasy, trying not to burst out laughing.

’No, but seriously... this skill is crazy!’ His mood instantly soared.

This was exactly the kind of cheat ability that made his life easier! He wouldn’t have to worry about injuries, he could keep up his cool, mysterious image, and best of all—he would be able to fight for longer, which meant even more stat points!

But just as he was grinning to himself, feeling like he had truly hit the jackpot...

[DING! ISSUING DEATH MISSION...]

Creed’s smile froze.

...Huh?

He slowly turned his head, his eyes widening in horror as he stared at the holographic screen that had suddenly appeared before him.

"Oh... oh no. Oh, hell no!"

Every novelkiss protagonist in existence knew what that phrase meant!

"Issuing death mission"— it was the system’s way of saying, "Congratulations! You now have a near-impossible task that will probably kill you! Good luck!"

Before he could even scream in protest, the full message flashed in front of him.

[DING! Host has received first Death Mission!]

[Mission: Become a Diamond-Level Awakened within 5 years.]

[Reward:

20,000 Primordial Essence.

1 Primordial Sigil.

5 Primordial Fragments.]

[Punishment for failure: Death.]

Creed gasped and staggered backward, almost tripping over his own feet.

"WHAT?!"

He felt his soul leave his body. His heart was racing, his mind was spinning, and for a full five seconds, he just stood there, frozen, trying to process the sheer ridiculousness of what had just happened.

The system was actually trying to kill him!

"Diamond Level Awakened in five years?!"

Even becoming a Gold Level Awakened in five years was already considered insane!

Fiona, a top-tier genius who had everything; talent, resources and elite training was already 20 years old and still only at Silver Level.

And yet, he was supposed to reach Diamond in just five years?!

Was that even possible?!

His hands clenched into fists. The rewards were insane. 20,000 Primordial Essence?!

That was an ungodly amount!

And a Primordial Sigil? He didn’t even know what that was, but it sounded incredibly powerful.

But none of that mattered if he DIED before he could even get close to completing the mission!

Creed took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down despite his rapidly beating heart.

Okay. Think logically. What were his options? Ignoring the mission was out of the question. The punishment was literal death.

That meant he had no choice but to complete it. But how?

His mind raced through possibilities.

If he wanted to reach Diamond Level, he would need top tier resources, advanced training, and access to the best possible cultivation techniques.

And there was only one place on Earth that could provide that kind of opportunity for him.

The Ambassadors Academy. It was the strongest Academy in the entire world.

The place where only the best of the best trained. If he could get into the Academy, he would have a real shot at reaching Diamond-Level. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

At least he would have some hope!

His eyes sharpened. He had no choice.

If he wanted to survive, if he wanted to complete this impossible mission, if he wanted to truly become strong enough to dominate this world...

He had to fight for a spot in the Ambassadors Academy.

Creed took a deep breath, his resolve solidifying.

"Fine. Let’s do this."
