Only a few lucky ones who were strong enough or deep enough underground managing to survive, though... That was only for now, as they would still have to endure another three such attacks and had to do their utmost to get as far away as possible if they wanted to survive any follow up attacks after that...

However, even faced with such a powerful attack, the formation that had been rapidly established by the spiritual tree to defend against the ambush had managed to hold strong. The only real sign of damage being the faint and almost invisible cracks that ran along the leaves that had been used to set up the defensive formation-

Unfortuantely, it also ended up falling short, as the formation managed to hold on-

Only with the third attack was the leaf defensive formation successfully broken. Allowing the fourth and final attack to directly go for the spiritual tree itself!

"DIE YOU DAMNED TREE!"

Knowing that this was the best chance they had when it came to killing the spiritual tree, the middle-aged man who was none other than the one that had barely missed Xuan Hao earlier, charged forward with his spear filled with killing intent. Not just to avenge the fallen Celestial Immortal Realm cultivator from his side, but also because he understood that if he killed the spiritual tree, he would have the best chance of getting his hands on its treasures before the other three had a chance to join in.

The spot in question being the less protected branches near the crown of the spiritual tree, where his spear managed to easily pierce through those branches.

While at the same time, he also took the opportunity to grab himself the five remaining spiritual fruits that he had spotted in the process. Understanding from a glance how useful these spiritual fruits were.
