Cutie Delivered, Please Sign for it-Chapter 1013 - 1010: Saving for a Dowry
Yan Bo had heard of these issues earlier and seeing that Tong Xiaohua was unwilling to speak further about it, he did not pursue the question.
"Anyway, I want to thank you on behalf of my mom."
A simple thank you from Yan Bo carried too many unspoken emotions. πππ¦β―πΈπ¦ππππ·β―π.πππ
"Do we really need to be so formal with each other?" Tong Xiaohua glared at him.
The green light came on, and Yan Bo drove the car out.
"Hmm, itβs not necessary. By the way, I can make some time next week. Do you still want to go visit my elder brother?"
This had already been agreed upon, but it had been put on hold due to Yan Boβs sudden disappearance.
Tong Xiaohua, initially enthusiastic about the visit, now hesitated.
"I donβt know, will it affect Elder Brother Yanβs work?"
Before this, Tong Xiaohua had not been very aware of the implications.
But this trip to the Capital City, whether it was Yanβs mom or anyone elseβs attitude, constantly reminded her that her presence really did have a severe impact on the Yan Family.
Yan Bo, being a businessman, might not be affected so directly.
But it was different for Yan Yuan; a man with a bright future had to be extremely careful with every step he took. Any slight mistake or disturbance could potentially ruin his future.
Tong Xiaohuaβs cautious tone caused Yan Boβs heart to wrench painfully.
He wanted to apologize to Tong Xiaohua, wanted to hold her tightly and comfort her properly.
But that apology, once on his lips, somehow could not be uttered.
There are things you can apologize for the first time, and the second time as well, but by the third, that apology becomes disgracefully cheap.
He knew she wouldnβt blame him.
Yet, the more she didnβt, the more he blamed himself and felt guiltier.
"Silly, weβre just going to see him. How could that affect him?"
Thinking about it, during her two days in the Capital City, his mom or someone else in the family must have given her a hard time.
Yan Bo had always thought himself capable, but he felt powerless regarding his parentsβ attitude toward Tong Xiaohua.
After some thought, Tong Xiaohua shook her head eventually.
"Never mind, itβs the end of the term. I should spend more time studying."
In fact, she had prepared thoroughly during this period, using it as an excuse because she didnβt want her actions to trouble Yan Yuan.
It wasnβt necessary, was it?
Yan Bo turned and looked deeply at her, and in the end, gave up on persuading her.
"I see, then Iβll talk to Elder Brother and tell him weβll visit him later."
"You can go! Itβs not nice to cancel plans we have agreed upon."
Yan Bo didnβt say anything, turned around, and returned to the parking lot where Yanhuang was located, parked the car, and then took out his phone to call Yan Yuan directly, "Brother, Iβve been really busy recently, I wonβt make it next week."
Yan Yuan didnβt ask anything over the phone, just said, "Got it, take care of yourself."
Then, he hung up the phone.
Tong Xiaohua felt somewhat guilty for causing the meeting between the brothers to be canceled because of her last-minute change of heart.
"Yan Bo, actually, you could go and visit. Elder Brother Yan probably misses you, too."
Yan Bo took her backpack and wore it himself, then took her hand and walked to the elevator.
"As a grown man, whatβs there to ponder about? When I studied abroad, I once went over two years without seeing my brother, and he never came to visit me. Only my mom and my sister would specially fly over to see me."
As the youngest of the Yan Family, Yan Bo should have been the center of everyoneβs affections.
Yet, he had none of the delicate airs of a privileged family youth. He had always ventured out on his own, never once relying on his familyβs influence to get by.
"Itβs not that they didnβt want to visit you, itβs just that their duties probably prevented them from going, right?"
Yan Bo smiled and did not deny it.
Exiting the elevator, he passed by Yanhuangβs office, still lit up.
"Are they working overtime?"
This clearly confirmed Yan Boβs "bad behavior" of skipping work!
"Probably, since everyone has to complete their tasks within the set timeline. If they donβt finish, they must work overtime, or theyβll hold back other departments."
Tong Xiaohua looked at him with a probing smile. "You say it as if youβve never held anyone back!"
Yan Bo firmly grasped her hand and grin impishly, "They say that if I donβt make you happy, then Iβm really holding things back."
Tong Xiaohua, utterly unprepared for this sugar-coated bombshell, blushed and glared at him, then swiftly pulled her hand away and marched towards his residence.
Yan Bo laughed and followed her, "Besides, your boyfriend here is not only bursting with βboyfriend power,β but heβs also great at his job. So, you donβt need to worry about me holding anyone back. Youβll surely get a good share of the profits this year!"
When the nanny heard the doorbell and opened the door, Tong Xiaohua greeted her and zoomed inside, bending over to change shoes, she said, "Keep my share of the profits; just save it for now!"
Yanhuang had just started and needed a substantial amount of working capital, so she had not even thought about taking her share of the profits.
Yan Bo nodded, "Alright, Iβll keep it here for you, consider it saving up your dowry."
Tong Xiaohua nearly toppled over. Did Yan Bo just love to have the upper hand verbally?
Little did she know, they had been together for nearly half a year, their relationship was growing stronger, yet physical intimacy had been limited to kisses and hugs. If she didnβt let Yan Bo have the upper hand verbally too, he might seriously become mentally imbalanced.
The nanny, who was already heading to the kitchen, couldnβt help but laugh when she heard Yan Boβs comment.
"Mr. Yan, is it really fair to bully Miss Tong like that? Who forces a girl to save up a dowry?"
Having been around them for a while, the nanny spoke much more freely.
"Nanny, you donβt know, weβre planning to have a whole soccer team of kids, so her saving a dowry is just preparing ahead."
The nanny, not quite understanding the young peopleβs playfulness, shook her head while smiling, "You two keep sparring; Iβll go check on the soup!"
Tong Xiaohua hadnβt been to the place in a while. Upon entering, she suddenly felt a bit alienated.
She stood in the center of the living room, looking around curiously.
Yan Bo, after placing her backpack in the study room and coming out, saw her still standing there and walked over to embrace her.
"Whatβs wrong, are you lost in thought?"
Tong Xiaohua shook her head, "No, itβs just that your place seems different somehow?"
Yan Bo pointed to the painting on the wall, "Is it because of this painting?" He then pointed to a vase on the display cabinet, "Or is it because of that vase?"
Tong Xiaohua followed his pointing and suddenly realized.
"Right, thatβs it. I felt something was different. Itβs because of these two items."
Tong Xiaohua pulled away from his grasp and approached the painting, examining it closely.
Though she wasnβt well-versed in antique paintings, she recognized this famous one.
"Is this a forgery?"
Yan Bo walked over, arms crossed, and watched her with a smile, "What do you think, is it a forgery?"
