Chapter 43: Grand Avalon Academy Dungeon Service Nurses

I stored them insides my storage bag.

I deactivated the cybernetic gauntlet.

In a flash of light, it transformed back into Felix and landed on the ground beside me.

"Nice work," I gently rubbed his metallic head.

"Thank you, master", Felix responded.

Then he quickly added, " You also did your best."

I nodded. It was nice receiving words of encouragement from your team member after a hard day’s work.

I remembered that I had received a system alert during the battle.

I opened my status sheet. I turned my attention towards it.

[ You have obtained a +1% Increase in Weapon Mastery - Sword ]

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

[ Name: Ezekiel Zahara ]

◆ Talent: Cybernetic Evolution (???)

◆ Fusion Compatibility (Felix): 46%

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

My Fusion Compatibility with Felix has increased by 10%.

My sword proficiency had also increased to 37%.

It’s been thirty minutes since I began using my sword between tasks, and it has only increased by this much.

I calculated the time it took me to earn a single point while in class training, before I unlocked the function.

It was also thirty minutes.

If my assumptions were correct, this meant that I needed to train for thirty minutes to increase my sword proficiency by a point.

This would mean that an hour would increase my proficiency level by two points.

Maintaining this regime for two hours would give me four points.

I trained for four hours each day - two hours in the daytime and two more at night.

If I sacrificed one more hour of sleep, I would be left with 5 hours of training a day.

That would give me 10 proficiency points per day.

If I were to maintain the consistency for a week, that would be 35 hours; my proficiency points would increase by 70 points.

That was enough to push my sword mastery past the Apprentice level and into the Adept level.

I was unsure whether the process of earning points would increase, remain the same, or become even harder to earn after the Apprentice level, but I would rather not focus on it because it was currently beyond my reach.

I also needed to train my spells and aura, and the Mountain Snow Dragon Art.

I was unsure if they had increased in proficiency in a similar way to my sword proficiency, because I hadn’t trained them yet.

I’ll allocate time to each of them after examining their results.

Although it would slow down my progress, the benefit of having to increase them steadily was worth it.

Growth Through Mastery!

It was truly a function befitting of its name.

With it, even a worm could be reborn into a phoenix.

I no longer had to scrub my belly against the dirt, grasping on a faint hope that my dream of becoming a hero would be cut short prematurely.

I could train till my body gave out and be justly rewarded for it.

I was delighted.

I couldn’t help but anticipate unlocking the system’s other functions.

I also pondered when my talent would be fully unsealed.

Would I gain another talent trait or also unlock a new skill?

I set the matter aside and tried not to think about it.

I commanded Felix to activate Jet mode. We flew out of the premises, heading towards the teleportation platform.

[ Third Person P.O.V ]

Few things could surprise them.

"Haa!! It feels like it’s been ages since I was summoned here," exclaimed a woman.

She wore a white navy dress, consisting of a white jacket and trousers. On her left chest was a badge that read -

Grand Avalon Academy Dungeon Service nurse. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Tiana. Grade: One star.

"It’s only been a week since we’ve been summoned here. You’re just starting to get used to lazing around all day," responded a young man sitting beside her.

He was also dressed in a white navy dress consisting of similar attire. On his left chest was a badge that read -

Grand Avalon Academy Dungeon Service nurse.

James. Grade: One star.

"Aarrck! You’re making it sound as though it’s normal. In the other classes, the service nurses don’t get summoned to emergencies every week," Tiana responded, casting an annoyed side glance.

"I heard that students there aren’t as reckless as ours. They don’t get into life-threatening situations. Heck! The other group doesn’t even know when they will be summoned, so they usually spend the rest of their time honing their skills until then."

She gritted her teeth in frustration.

"While we are here having a week to ourselves to rest, and you think it’s abnormal."

James was tempted to respond, but he quickly kept silent because he knew that what Tiana had said was correct.

During the first term, it was common for students not to be aware of their own abilities, which could lead them to undertake tasks that could either injure them or bring them dangerously close to death’s door.

They had seen it all.

From noble scums who turned to cry babies from having their guts sliced open, to those who had never held a blade, throwing up upon seeing blood, to others who had kissed death for the first time and were unable to recover until several days had passed because they had been lost in the taste of her lips.

They would spend most of their time in the hospital recuperating, acknowledging their mistakes, and learned not to repeat them.

That was also the case for other classes.

Except for theirs.

There was one person who kept on repeating the same mistakes.

No matter his injuries, after recuperation, he would always return to the dungeon, only to end up with a similar or more critical injury.

Ezekiel Zahara.

He got injured at least three times a week. Compared to the other classes, the ratio was about 3 to 1.

This meant that for every three injuries he sustained in a week, only one slight or fatal injury occurred in the other classes.

At other times, the ratio was 2 to 0.

This meant that while they had to attend to the same person twice a week, no other injuries were reported in the different classes during the same period.
