Chapter 201: Watch And Learn.

[Victor: Be ready, Rose is on the move.]

Finn froze the moment he saw the message. He removed his finger from the trigger and switched the safety on with his thumb, slowly lowering his gun before placing it on the counter before him.

The weapon was a normal pistol he had borrowed earlier that day. Unlike the Blue Night, it had a much smaller handle and caliber, making it the perfect weapon for someone who was just getting into guns. Glancing at it, then the target a dozen meters away, he turned around and quickly walked out of his booth.

BLAM BLAM BLAM

In the one beside his, someone continued to shoot some rather loud shells. Though it sounded as if he was blasting a shotgun, the weapon he held was a normal, although a little bulky, revolver. Its design looked rather mechanical, with a slightly long barrel. The weight under it helped absorb some of the recoil, but one needed some monstrous strength to keep it aimed straight.

Its sturdiness, gray frame, and slightly long front sight were the main reasons behind it being called The Rhino. Just like its cousin, the Juggernaut, many pass on it due to the heavy weight and excessive recoil, though it still found popularity among the crazy minority who enjoyed having their shoulders dislocated whenever they pull the trigger.

A few clicks announced that the last bullet in the cylinder had been fired. As the shooter moved to reload, Finn quickly stepped in and stopped him.

"Viktor just sent me a message." He said.

"About goddamn time."

Not even turning around, Tomato Head picked a handful of bullets and snapped the revolver open. With practiced ease, he went about reloading the cylinder, then flicked his wrist to put the weapon back together. When he took aim again, Finn thought that he would have to wait some more before they were done. Thankfully, Tomato Head retracted his arm and put the weapon in his armpit holster.

"Alright, let’s go."

Only five days remained until the heist. A week ago, Finn thought he would have a lot of things to do. He was spending all that time with Tomato Head, after all, so even though he was nothing more than a stand-in, the two should have been a lot busier as the deadline approached.

Turns out that most of the preparations were done already, which left them with a lot more free time than he had while doing some work for Viktor. Tomato Head decided that they would use it to look for a new gun, since he gave back the Blue Night, but even after he found a replacement, he still insisted on hitting the range every day.

[Jake: He really doesn’t look the part.]

[Finn: You don’t have to tell me.]

It took little observation to notice that the guy who calls himself Dante wasn’t the typical Diver. Without prior knowledge of his skills, one would think he was just another brute who relies on his fists and weapons to get things done. The act he was putting on served as the perfect cover to hide his true potential, but Finn was starting to think it was too good, seeing that his doubts continued to increase even though he was aware of the truth.

Exiting the gunshop, they climbed the stairs to a nearby restaurant and sat in a corner they inconspicuous previously decided on. Both scanned the QR code for the menu and ordered drinks, which were then delivered to them by a drone.

As he drank from his hot chocolate, Finn glanced at Tomato Head, one question quickly making it to the forefront of his mind.

"Hey, I’ve been wondering. How the hell do you do it?"

Looking up from the cup of dark misery he had just ordered, Tomato Head raised an eyebrow at him.

"Do what?"

"Diving, what else?" With tightly knitted brows, Finn went on. "You don’t have an MLP, and you don’t have an Exocore either. You can’t do much diving without those, so..."

"Oh, that..." Going silent for a few seconds, Tomato Head drank some of the bitter potion, then said. "You just lack imagination, that’s all."

Finn’s eyes narrowed instantly.

"Pretty sure I don’t." He said. "Does it have anything to do with... You know..."

After giving the matter some thought, Finn began to suspect that the idiot harassing him this entire time was in fact an undercover hero. The theory made perfect sense—being a Genome would explain his ability to move through walls, and if he was working with the BEO, it wouldn’t be strange for him to have tech that can substitute the typical MLP and Exocore.

It would also explain why he was so insistent on stopping him from messing with the Daggers. Finn didn’t like that part, however, since it put the promise they made into question.

Fixing him with a glare, Tomato Head replied in a sharp tone.

"You shouldn’t ask stupid questions if you figured out that much already."

"Chill, I was just a little curious," Finn said.

"I need to focus so... shut it."

[Finn: What am I even doing here?]

[Jake: To watch and learn? Though I don’t think you can do much of that right now.]

[Finn: Yeah...]

With the preparations for the heist mostly finished, the only thing that remained was obtaining the layout of the mansion on the thirty-seventh floor. Putting aside how insane it was for an entire mansion to be built inside a hotel, it not being connected to the main network made it impossible to infiltrate from outside, which is why everyone had been working on finding a way inside.

The purple-haired woman they call Rose was their last hope. For a while now, she had been working on seducing a member of the Stahlkorps, one of the few people who could get into the mansion without arousing suspicion. After many attempts, she managed to convince him to introduce her and the others to some of the people attending the wedding, and one of those was none other than the groom himself, Klaus Stahlwölfes.
