When she spread the thing with both her hands, it turned out to be a hooded coat.

She wore it under the gaze of the butler. The hooded coat now covered her entire head and body; only her face was unconcealed. However, one had to stand in front of her to be able to see what she looked like.

"Let's go in."

Cao Yujin nodded.

When they stepped inside, she immediately paused. The room was vast. The ceiling was shaped into a circular dome, with the very center of it opened for the moonlight to spill inside.

Quiet chants reverberated off the walls as they descended the steps. The scent of incense and candles sent her reeling with dizziness. Fortunately, the butler did not stray away from her, so she was not left alone.

Keeping her senses about, Cao Yujin wondered why Percy had her follow the butler? Where was this place, even? Did he know something? But her grandfather didn't stop her from going. So, she could only blindly trust her grandfather.

In the center, a group of people gathered around what looked like a raised platform, where some kind of altar was situated. A bed covered in red silk, a black cloth banner, and candles placed around it.

And on the bed, a woman was sleeping.

Cao Yujin squinted her eyes to get a good look. The act itself almost hurt her head, but she wanted to know the reason she was brought there.

Strangely, the longer she looked, the more she felt a sense of familiarity.

Could it be someone she knew?

Who is it? Cao Yujin thought to herself.

As she tried to think of who the woman could be, the door behind them opened again.

A couple more people entered the room.

Cao Yujin could no longer investigate as she was told to stand at the end of the group. It seemed like there was some kind of hierarchy among these people.

If only Cao Yujin had looked even more, she would found that the woman was Ran Xueyi.

At the same time, Song Yu Han stood inside the vast chamber.

He had come with the last group to enter the room. The hooded coat was taken from one of them before they got close to their destination.

They did not know one of them had been taken and replaced. No one even knew that their sacred place had been infiltrated.

The moment he walked in with the others, Song Yu Han's focus zeroed in instantly on the altar.

Lying across it was Ran Xueyi.

The muscles in his jaw and arms tensed at the sight of her lying there, dressed in a thin gown. It barely covered her skin.

Those sick bastards.

He cursed inwardly as he almost couldn't push off the desire to start blowing their heads off.

But he held back in the last second. He had to know she was okay. Was she even breathing? Song Yu Han dared not think about it otherwise.

Gripping the gun hidden under the coat, Song Yu Han counted the people he needed to kill. Not because they had laid their eyes on his wife. But because they had gathered here for one reason.

It was to sacrifice his wife for their fucked-up ritual.

It won't take long for any smart person to know what the hell was going on in there. The chamber, the dome, and the altar. The candles, the black cloth banner, and the black markings on the floor. Everything pointed to one thing.

This was a ritual.

As for what it was for, Song Yu Han didn't need to know. Whatever it was, it was something these crazy people, who believed in this sort of freaky thing, came up with to suit their own beliefs.

The air in his lungs thickened as a man stepped onto the platform. He wore a goat skull covering his face with the horns curled upward. The hollowed eyes of the skull created an eerie image of a devil appearing out of nowhere. Other than the skull, he wore a red robe with nothing under.

Suddenly, the man spread his hands and looked up at the moon.

He chanted an inaudible and unknown language before taking off his robe.

Song Yu Han unlocked the safety gear and pointed his gun ahead. Despite doing this, no one noticed his action; everyone's attention was drawn to the man on the platform.

On the platform, the man stood naked.

He walked closer to the altar. A ceremonial knife was in his hand.

Seeing him get close to Ran Xueyi unleashed the raging flames inside him.

He had told himself to wait. But he can't.

He needed to shed blood. Preferably, everyone in that room.

Inhuman rage ripped from his chest as he finally loosened himself from the chain he held himself in.

'Bang!'

The first bullet was shot.

It hit the man's head on the platform.

"AH!!!"

'Bang!'

The second bullet struck his chest. His body propelling forward with a thud as it hit the floor.

The third didn't go to the man. Instead, Song Yu Han used up all the bullets in his gun on the people gathered in that chamber.

Screams grew louder.

The people were scattered in the room, fleeing across the room to find solace and a hiding place. But before they could take several steps, a bullet would find itself lodged deep in their heads.

Brain matter and blood splattered on the floor.

More people lay strewn across the ground, lifeless and unmoving.

Some drew a couple of breaths before completely dying.

Most of them did not know where the hell the gunshot came from or how they died.

They never even thought it would happen in their sacred place or that death would come to them.

They stared wide-eyed and held on to get a glimpse of who had killed them.

But all they saw was a figure shrouded in darkness, his face covered with a hood as he stepped closer.
