Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy-Chapter 447: Is It Necessary to Continue?
Evan Miles’s expression was grim as he watched Elena Soo drape a man’s coat over her shoulders and head upstairs, his fingers curling slightly.
His mother was still nagging beside him.
"Evan, did you hear that? She agreed to the divorce. You go with her tomorrow and get the divorce formalities done."
Evan looked at his mother, "Mom, could you say a little less? I’m the heir of the Grant Family, and marrying and divorcing in such a short time, don’t you know it will affect the company’s reputation?"
His mother didn’t like Elena Soo, so he could only use this reason to persuade her to calm down a bit.
Evan’s mother was indeed intimidated by his words.
But when she thought of the message she received from Melody Lane, she added, "But look at what she’s like? See for yourself, am I slandering her?"
Evan’s mother opened the photo on her phone and handed it to Evan, "I told you to marry Melody at first, but you just wouldn’t listen. If Melody had married into the Miles family, there wouldn’t be so many troubles."
Evan took the photo from his mother and saw Leo Warren gently running his fingers through Elena’s hair, looking tender and affectionate. His fingers tensed slightly.
Suppressing the irritation in his heart, he returned the phone to his mother.
"Alright, what does one photo prove? Go get some rest, and stop listening to others trying to sow discord."
Although he didn’t know what was going on with the photo, he did not believe Elena would do anything behind his back.
Better to get to the bottom of it first.
Evan ignored his mother’s complaints and then strode upstairs.
In the bedroom, Elena was packing her luggage.
Evan pushed the door open, saw what she was doing, and his face immediately turned cold.
"Elena, what are you doing?"
"Isn’t it a divorce? I’m packing my things."
Elena paused slightly, "Rest assured, I won’t take anything from the Miles family. As for that one million, I’ll pay it back to you in installments."
Upon hearing this, Evan’s expression grew colder.
He grabbed her wrist, turning her to face him.
"Elena, I have no intention of marrying a third time, so please stop bringing up divorce at every turn."
Elena’s fingers curled slightly, staring at the man’s handsome face in front of her, and she lowered her gaze.
"Evan, our marriage wasn’t meant to be, do you think there’s any point in continuing it?"
They were merely using each other, and now she felt exhausted, wasn’t he also tired of being caught between his mother and her?
Looking at Elena’s delicate face, Evan’s expression softened slightly.
He pulled Elena to sit on the sofa and said gently, "Elena, I know you’ve been wronged, I apologize to you on behalf of my mother."
The man’s voice was tender, and Elena, after a wave of impulsiveness, slowly calmed down.
Except for Evan’s mother, to be honest, Evan was a good partner.
He was not only gentle and graceful but also didn’t have many deceitful tricks.
Instead, he was quite faithful.
Marrying him was indeed to reach higher.
However, such a loveless marriage really can’t withstand outsiders’ frequent provocations.
If he, like his mother, didn’t trust her and wanted a divorce, she wouldn’t object.
Elena lowered her gaze and remained silent.
Evan took hold of her shoulders and asked, "Has the issue with your brother been resolved? Do you need me to step in?"
Upon hearing this, Elena lifted her head and shook it, "No, it’s already resolved."
"How was it resolved?" Evan asked.
Elena hesitated slightly, "An old friend of mine stepped in to help solve it."
Leo Warren should count as an old friend of hers, right?
"Oh? What kind of old friend? Is the coat you’re wearing also his?"
Evan looked deeply into her eyes, speaking slowly with intention.
Elena looked at him, recalling Evan’s mother’s words, thinking he must know something.
"His name is Leo Warren, he was once my neighbor, we grew up together."
She had no intention of hiding it from him, as for what he thought of her, she accepted it all.
Evan looked into her clear gaze, his grip tightened slightly, "So, the person who helped you solve the problem tonight was your childhood friend? You brought up the divorce all of a sudden, planning to be with him after the divorce?"
Hearing this, Elena quickly shook her head.
"I never had such thoughts, I just feel a bit tired."
Seeing the bitter smile on Elena’s lips, Evan fell silent for a moment, then pulled her into his arms.
"Alright, Elena, I know you’ve been wronged. This marriage was too rushed, you weren’t prepared, I understand. But, I hope you remember one thing, you’re still my wife, the daughter-in-law of the Miles family, remember to come to me as your husband to resolve your issues, I don’t want my wife to be too close with other men."
Elena moved her lips slightly but eventually said nothing.
As a husband, Evan had done nothing wrong.
He didn’t listen blindly to others who maligned her.
Instead, he was careful to find out the full story.
He was very calm.
Perhaps because he didn’t love her, he could remain so calm.
After a while, Evan gradually released her, lifting her chin with his hand. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
A warm breath enveloped her, sealing her lips.
Elena’s body stiffened for a moment, then slowly relaxed under his gentle reassurance.
He was her husband, and she was supposed to fulfill her marital duties.
...
The night was deep, Amelia Miles was wearing loungewear, still at home studying issues related to fragrance.
The Grant Family’s newly developed fragrance, she intended to make it a big hit.
Therefore, she was immersed in work both in and out of the office these days.
The door was pushed open, and Damon Hawke walked in.
Seeing Amelia still up, her arms covered in test strips, sniffing repeatedly, his face immediately filled with displeasure.
"Wife, stop being a career woman."
His wife should just be a little woman enjoying life under his protection.
Upon hearing this, Amelia was unfazed and signaled him to help smell the fragrance.
"Husband, come help me decide which scent you like best?"
Damon went over, removing the test strips from her arm one by one, then embraced her, kissing her hair.
"Your scent is my favorite, wife, just create a fragrance based on your scent."
This man was really becoming more and more sweet-talking.
Amelia chuckled softly, her heart warmed, and she turned to hug him, not opposing his affection.
As their kiss deepened and they were about to take things further, Damon’s phone rang.
Damon had no time to answer it, instead lifting Amelia onto the bed.
But his phone kept ringing persistently, disturbing them.
"Answer the phone first."
Amelia breathlessly pushed his head away, speaking coyly.
Damon looked displeased, gave Amelia’s red lips another deep kiss, then picked up the phone to check.
It was an unknown caller on the phone.
Damon answered with a cold tone, "Who is this?"
"Hello, Mr. Hawke, this is Allure Bar, your friend drank too much, and we are closing soon, can you come to take her home?"
