Despite what Yang Qing said about the freedom of choice, Yu Hui was still ill at ease about the whole thing.

If a powerful cultivator passed by a mountain and said mountain had a weak cultivator camping there, and the powerful cultivator says he loves the view, the weak cultivator won't respond with,

"Yes, it truly is. I can't believe it!"

And then sits there and enjoys the view with said powerful cultivator. More than likely the weak cultivator will panic and use whatever excuse he could come up with to leave the area and let that powerful cultivator enjoy the view alone.

The compliment was for the view and not the weak cultivator. If anything he would be an embellishment to the picture, so leaving is the safest choice.

Yang Qing may have said he was free to choose what he wanted, but did the Yu clan have the guts?

If his ancestor was the one on the table, maybe he might be able to take Yang Qing up on the offer but Yu Hui didn't have the guts to.

But if the Order turned too excessive with 'polite' suggestions and advice, Yu Hui had already prepared to speak out. As subservient as he was willing to be, they were now a rank two family and needed to act as such, despite their shallow foundations when compared to others of similar ranking much less the Order.

With his heart rapidly racing, Yang Qing spoke.

"Today's matter was brought forth by Fan Cai out of worry when his mother missed the appointed meet up which brought to light the contract she had in place with the Starlight Lake Sect under the supervision of the Silver Rose Vermilion Pavilion.

This is the said contract," Yang Qing said as he picked up the contract scroll on the table and faced its contents to the parties present.

"As you can see by the terms, the contract was supposed to have ended four months ago, but alas a mishap happened and the contract still remains active.

The mishap in question is Fan Ha endangering the Starlight Lake Sect with her actions by attacking certain members of the Yu clan, hereby triggering a clause in the contract.

To settle the matter, Fan Ha decided to amend the contract and transfer its ownership from the Starlight Lake to the Yu clan where she would serve as their guardian for life.

With the violation, the contract met the terms of the amendment.

That is the meat of the matter as it stands. Now there have been a few concessions and adjustments here and there from the parties involved," Yang Qing said with his eyes falling on Yu Hui who nodded.

"As a mediator, I will endeavor to assist all parties to reach a middle ground that they can find acceptable.

For Fan Cai it's the freedom of his mother, for Fan Ha, it's the safety of the Starlight Lake Sect, and for the Starlight Lake Sect, just like Fan Cai, wants Fan Ha's freedoms, and for the Yu clan, they want reparations met for the injuries suffered by their people, so they don't retaliate.

Is that agreeable to all of you?" asked Yang Qing to which all parties nodded in agreement.

"Elder Yu Hui, the injuries to your people, how severe were they? Is it permanent or temporary and if permanent please describe the injury and the member affected.

If temporary, which grade and number of resources will it require to restore said members?

You can quantify with spirit stones and I know I don't have to tell you this, so please be forthright with your answer. We already have someone here who can partly verify the facts and if need be we can send someone to your clan to verify it.

Do keep that in mind," Yang Qing said with a solemn expression.

Yu Hui's expression turned slightly darker at the remark. Whether it was because of the warning or because his plans had been hampered, who knew?

With a feigned look of poise and calm, Yu Hui answered,

"It was four elders who were injured. One was a sixth-stage palace realm expert, another a first-stage expert, and two peak-stage core formation experts.

Their injuries varied with the first stage palace realm experts suffering the most injuries which was a damage to his meridians, and a broken arm and legs, as for the rest it was minor only requiring a week for full recovery.

As to the moderately injured elder , it required the stalk of a 10,000 year old azure jade vein ginseng. As a low tier monarch grade herb, its market value is around 12,000 high grade spirit stones."

"Thank you for your forthrightness, Elder Yu Hui," said Yang Qing before turning to Fan Ha.

"Are what he has said correct and true in terms of injury?"

"It is," answered Fan Ha with a slight nod of her head.

Back then, she had instantly incapacitated the two peak core formation experts of the Yu clan, hence why they didn't have much injury to them.

With the damage she had done to herself as she nurtured Fan Cai in her womb, it meant that she couldn't fully exert her abilities as an eighth stage palace realm expert. At most she had the abilities of a middle stage palace realm expert.

Her weakness meant that she didn't have much of an advantage over the Yu clan's sixth stage palace realm expert. At best what she had over him was her rich experience and maybe her innate abilities as a nine hearts deer but even that had received a decline since she was missing three of her hearts.

This put both sides almost on equal footing, if it was a one on one, but it wasn't. That sixth stage palace realm expert had the support of another palace realm expert.

This put Fan Ha in a severe disadvantage not even counting the fact that her hands were already tied before even the fight started. The team from the Yu clan fought to kill her whilst she had to be careful with her actions not kill them lest she bring trouble to the Starlight Lake Sect.

In the end to ensure she could escape with the earth profound jade stone, she had no choice but to severely injure one of the two palace realm experts.

Of the two, she went for the one who was at the first stage since he was easier to catch off guard and at the same time the Yu clan even though might take offense to her action, they were likely to be more accommodating if it was the first stage palace realm expert that got injured instead of the one who was at the sixth stage.

In the end her planning and considerations were all for naught since the Yu clan still came to their doors demanding more than the Starlight Lake Sect could bear.
