"From the time we decided to work together in earnest which was about 800 years ago, regardless of where we going, or the task we were undertaking, we always involved the Sacred Kirin Manor in all our affairs whether big or small.

That kidnapping had been a reminder and a reinforcer that we needed each other. Birds die for food, and men die for wealth.

Wealth can corrupt and destroy even the strongest of bonds, especially among our kind where we were always desperate for it.

If there was anything that would have made us turn on each other it would have been that.." said Xiao Gun as he took out a golden scroll that echoed with a voice that sounded like a deer’s which then changed to that of a dragon, then changed to that of a tortoise, before turning to that of a deer once more.

Though one couldn’t make out what those noises meant, everyone present could feel the divine and ethereal power within the voice. A pure inviolable force of austerity and righteousness radiated from it.

"To avoid that outcome.." Xiao Gun said as a look of respect and mild trepidation washed his face as his gaze fell on the scroll.

"To avoid that outcome, where we would turn on each other due to greed, we felt it prudent to employ the services of the Sacred Kirin Manor.

They suited us perfectly. In terms of cost they were the most affordable even by our standards, and what they delivered was exactly what we needed. Gambling our lives, and putting them on the line was the surest way we would not turn on each other, and with it, we could freely cooperate without fear of betrayal.

We remained united for 800 years because of this scroll.." Xiao Gun said, his heart heavy with emotion with his eyes still glued to the scroll.

"This scroll is the closest we have ever come to feeling what a tiny bit of peace felt like. .." he added with a smile that was a mix of fondness, and self-pity.

He respectfully handed the scroll to Yang Qing by cupping it in his hands and stepping back once he had placed it on the podium and got an acknowledgment nod and thanks from Yang Qing.

"The scroll is from the Sacred Kirin Manor, and it contains every agreement we had them oversee for us both prior and after our affairs. Every single deal that they have overseen for the past 800 years is recorded there.

The Order can authenticate as to the veracity of the origins of that scroll," Xiao Gun politely said.

"I think everybody here even without our verification can more or less tell as to the origins of the scroll based on the taboo power surrounding it that is indicative of its source.

That being said I have another scroll here that confirms the fact.." Yang Qing said as he pulled out a scroll from one of the compartments on his desk.

The scroll in question was similar to the one Xiao Gun had handed both in design and presence. It too had the mixed voices of a deer, a dragon roar, and a tortoise and an aura of righteousness and austerity.

However, even with all the near-identical similarities, there was one aspect of it that made it glaringly obvious that it was different from Xiao Gun’s scroll and that was the presence it radiated, which though subtle, was as loud as the rumblings of thunder, to anyone who had ever faced the heavenly tribulation.

The scroll had the same sensation a cultivator felt when they knew they were about to trigger a tribulation for their breakthrough. It was the sensation one had even before the clouds of the tribulation fell.

Yang Qing gently unrolled the scroll, exposing its writings for all to see. The writing was simple with no flair or flourish to it. If one was to mention one thing that stood out from the writing, it was its rigidity.

The information recorded on it matched its form, it was simple and direct. It was basically one of the high elders of the Sacred Kirin Manor confirming that the scroll presented by Xiao Gun was from them assuaging other fears while he was at it, such as Xiao Gun and his partner potentially sneaking in a doctored scroll, which was improbable because if they had such an ability, they would not be where they were.

But in the spirit of austerity, the high elder did mention that the two cultivators in Xiao Gun and Yao Chang had signed another agreement which was between them and the Manor itself in which they swore not to add an utterance of lie with the Manor’s name, and any deviation from it, they would face the retaliatory wrath of it.

The high elder also mentioned having handed over pertinent recordings to the Order. The recordings showed all the deals they had ever supervised at the behest of the three rogue cultivators which would more or less prove whether the contents within the scroll Xiao Gun handed to Yang Qing were the real thing or not.

From the redundancies, one could see how thorough the Sacred Kirin Manor was in the conduct of its affairs.

After Yang Qing was sure everyone had fully read the scroll, he took out the recordings and played them for all to see. There were four figures in the recordings with one of them blurred by a conciliatory spell that not only distorted his features but even his presence, looking at the figure was no different than looking at a fog.

But the three remaining figures were clearly defined. Two of those figures were known. It was Xiao Gun and Yao Chang. As for the third person, it didn’t need much to guess that it was their third partner, Fu Yong. He was of the same height and build as Yao Chang, which was average height and build, however, he had this red hair, and sharp eyebrows that gave him a heroic look, and it made him stand out against the two rogue cultivators.

One look at him, and one would not judge him to be a rogue cultivator because of the aura and the look he had on him. It was just a recording, but one could feel his valiant spirit, a testament to the recording talisman used, and his breadth of spirit.

The recording played out all the deals struck with the terms all clearly laid out. The last recording was of an artifact. It was a cauldron, a blue-white cauldron that was built in the shape of a crane whose wings had been designed to form the body of the cauldron as its head hung above it, bending downwards like it was drinking from the mouth of the cauldron.

The crane’s beak has something in its mouth, a bamboo scroll bound together by a papyrus reed.

Inside the cauldron was a ladle in the shape of the crane’s feathers that had the name "Verdant Water Crane.." on it.

The recording cut off after the agreement surrounding the cauldron was made.

They may have not seen it in person, but everyone present had a keen eye, and they could all tell that the cauldron had a unique charm to it, it was the kind of charm that you would only see on an artifact that could weave dao into its fabric.

This meant that at the very least the cauldron had reached the monarch grade.
