Chapter 549: Twilight Owls

The scene inside the planet looked like a world of death, filled with explosive sounds and chaotic space. All the weak people of that place had probably been taken far away, leaving only the powerful ones behind, locked in a brutal battle.

The main continent was drenched in blood, and a faint dark mist covered the whole atmosphere — the purest Yin of death. In the center of that continent stood a massive castle, where two groups were still fighting; one side had fewer than a hundred thousand people, while the other had five times that and was charging forward full of energy.

Darian turned to Czaza, "In this universe, the three divinities are literally three races of Heavenly Beasts. Because this universe is special, these races managed to ascend and become extremely powerful."

The woman took a deep breath, calming the two little foxes on her shoulders, who were trembling from the foul environment.

"Dan, are we gonna help?" Alear asked eagerly.

Darian nodded. This girl, ever since she was a kid, has always had sharp senses. Darian had also sensed with his curse that the karma of that smaller army was way less grim. And among them, one figure with a grayish karma seemed to be leading them.

Darian couldn’t jump to conclusions based only on that. But, with the absurdly darker karma of most attackers, and their leader drenched in a dense, sinister tone, it was obvious which side he should lean toward.

"All right!" Alear shouted with excitement and shot the flying boat straight toward the enemy army.

As they got closer, the two sides became clearer. They were fighting in their true forms — one side radiating a bright, colorful aura, the other a dark one, practically covered by a mantle of shadows.

Darian, who had read the mission details, knew the races’ names, "The ones losing are the Rainbow Cranes. The attackers are called Twilight Owls."

The flying boat quickly approached the castle. Within the horde of Twilight Owls, they could vaguely see powerful beams of light sweeping the area at the center of it all.

Those were the two leaders fighting. Around them, space was chaotic, and mountains of corpses piled up below.

Darian felt excitement coming from inside his inventory. There were many powerful, fresh corpses. Tir was thrilled and could absorb everything. Eleri, on the other hand, wanted to fly right into the still-living enemy army and devour their lives.

The Rainbow Cranes were dying nonstop around the main fight. They seemed to be fighting in desperation, refusing to fall back even a single step. This planet was clearly their home, and they preferred death over running away, even though the battle was obviously lost.

"GO!!!" Alear roared, activating the flying boat’s full power.

An overwhelming spatial force burst forth. The flying boat pierced through space in a straight line, unleashing a wave of power.

"What the hell?!"

The Twilight Owls were caught off guard — none of them had sensed the flying boat entering the planet or getting close.

That was one of the boat’s abilities, thanks to the terrifying material it was built with. It hid its energy fluctuations extremely well; unless someone stared directly at it with focus, they’d barely notice it.

The boat charged ahead, crashing into the middle of the army. Countless were severely injured, but none died; only the stronger ones and those farther away managed to dodge. This created a huge opening on the battlefield.

At that moment, the hundred thousand Rainbow Cranes — covered in blood — stopped, staring in shock at that terrifying flying boat. They had already accepted death, and now, with something abnormal appearing, a small spark of hope surged in them.

"Everyone, seal your rings’ power completely," Darian transmitted. Everyone on the boat froze their energy entirely, making it impossible even for a Spiritual Guardian to tell how many rings they had.

After advancing further and getting close to the castle, the Twilight Owls’ leader unleashed a powerful attack on his opponent, then turned and roared:

"THE FUCK?! Who the hell are you?!"

The boat stopped. Everyone fighting turned toward it, seeing a lone human figure standing on the bow. In that universe, humans were common, just inferior in every way to the three Heavenly Beasts.

They found his green hair and red eyes strange — that wasn’t normal for humans — but didn’t care.

The speaker looked incredibly arrogant, as if he didn’t acknowledge anyone else.

"I asked a question! Pathetic humans shouldn’t interfere in important matters. What flying boat is this?! Are you all mute?!" the Twilight Owl leader yelled, furious at Darian’s silence.

"I’m not obligated to answer you. If you don’t want to die, get out." Darian replied calmly, staring coldly at the man.

"Hahahaha, what a joke! Who the hell do you think you are to talk to me like that?!"

This man had an extremely powerful aura, and even just moving distorted space around him. Even his voice made everything tremble.

Judging his power, Darian was sure he could fight a Spiritual Guardian with nine rings easily. The weaker ones would probably die against him.

Before this, the Twilight Owl had been leading everyone effortlessly on the battlefield. But just when he was in peak condition and about to win, Darian had arrived.

"I don’t care who you are, what your status is, or who backs you. We don’t have a grudge, so I’m trying to be fair here. Leave this planet with your whole race, otherwise, when you regret it, it’ll be too late."

Darian answered completely emotionless. He was an outsider and didn’t know exactly what had caused this battle. So he wanted to give this side a chance to flee, even though he already knew who the vile side was.

"Hahahaha... looks like after I’m done here, I’ll have to pay the humans a visit and wipe out a few cities to calm down my anger."

The man roared with a playful expression. Everyone on the flying boat heard it, and their expressions changed. That made it clear that humans in this universe were basically slaves who could be massacred without ever fighting back.

Darian stayed silent, but his eyes now shone with a bloody light. He changed his mind. A leader like this was a mirror of his whole race. People from this race could not be spared or allowed to flee.

"Looks like you’ll only talk when you’re forced to. I’m done wasting time with you. Capture them all!" the man mocked and waved his hand. As he did, dozens of Twilight Owls charged forward.

Darian snorted and waved his hand backward. As they approached the flying boat, in the next instant...

*SLASH!*

With a flash of light and a sharp blade-like sound, dozens of heads flew through the air, followed by a rain of blood.

That leader’s eyes went wide. In less than a second, the entire flying boat was covered by hundreds of blood-soaked black blades, each over three meters long.

A Dragoness with an indifferent expression appeared, stepping to Darian’s side.

In that moment, Alear looked completely calm, her face not showing the slightest ripple, as if killing more than twenty powerful figures of that race in an instant was something completely insignificant.

Alear activated her blessing, called *Yin Blades’ Calamity*. It was a Mage-class technique, pretty simple: she could turn the Yin in her body or in the environment into an insanely sharp blade.

The downside was that she had a limited amount of Yin in her body to use. And if the environment didn’t have much, she’d run out of power. But in a place like this, completely drowned in the Yin of death, she was like a shark in the ocean, able to cause a true calamity on her own.

That leader was initially shocked. That woman had to be a hybrid between a human and the other race that was their enemy. That explained her power.

"Playing with death!"

He roared. He hadn’t considered them a threat in the beginning. After all, none of them showed a powerful aura.

Those twenty-somethings who just died had thought the same. But Alear wasn’t playing around. Darian already knew her personality and let her do what she wanted, knowing she was very furious and brutal when irritated.

Filled with rage, that leader acted on his own, his sharp claws aiming for Darian’s throat.

He was a type of giant owl, and his two claws were his strongest offensive power, able to destroy everything in front of him. But...

"!"

Darian didn’t even need to move. In that instant, a hand covered in green scales grabbed the claw in midair, giving him no chance to react.

The man then saw Niara and felt a sharp pain. With her calm grip alone, his claws were on the verge of snapping.

"Let me go!"

He roared, and his other claw slashed toward her waist. That was an attack meant to scare cultivators. Even though it was a normal strike, most people would avoid being hit around the Dantian area and would naturally let go of the target. It was one of the most important power points for a cultivator. And even if they didn’t let go, the distraction would allow the enemy to escape easily.

He had no idea they weren’t cultivators. And Niara obviously didn’t have anything like an important or fragile point. She didn’t even need to dodge. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

However, Alear would never allow someone to kick her mother.

She waved her hand, moving the Yin in her body outward really fast, like tiny spikes.

Then, Darian and the others couldn’t keep watching. That Twilight Owl’s whole calf and claws were pierced straight through, leaving countless holes.

"AH!" He screamed like a pig being slaughtered.

They weren’t just needles or blades. When Alear created something directly from the Yin in her body, it carried a special potential that didn’t exist in the original blessing; it was a personal modification of her blessing.

They held a terrifying potential to invade the enemy’s body and burn all the Yang inside, like a poison. Without Yang, all vitality drained rapidly.

Women had some resistance to it, though it was still lethal. But for a man, it was way more terrifying and devastating, and it also caused a pain as absurd as if his soul was being tortured in hell.

As a result, the man’s bleeding leg rotted rapidly, turning completely black. And the most horrifying part: it spread quickly throughout his body.

"Release the General, or all of you will die!!!"

In that instant, a wave of power erupted. The second strongest figure of the army roared as he attacked.

"Or we’re all gonna die?! Haha, I wanna see how we’re gonna die, then," Niara mocked.

"You ignorant half-breeds! Since you don’t recognize kindness, you can die now!"

He roared, commanding the whole army. They abandoned the Rainbow Cranes and rushed toward the flying boat with everything they had. Their combined power was like an unstoppable avalanche.

The Rainbow Cranes watched in silence, completely confused. Who were these people? Why were they helping?

Seeing that indifferent human figure standing in the center, they felt he was someone used to this kind of thing, and seemed to be doing something random just out of sheer whim.

Darian snorted, speaking calmly, "Kill them all."

In that moment, a murderous will exploded from inside the flying boat. Everyone inside moved.

Alear roared, and the whole Yin-filled environment moved like a hurricane of deadly blades. Niara just snorted, waving her hand and releasing a technique that attacked the souls of everyone, making them dizzy.

The other eight drew their weapons and unleashed blunt strikes in all directions, with sharpening runes active. Everything was done with perfect coordination, as if it were a single movement spreading like a supernova of death.

The Rainbow Cranes watched everything, wondering if they should help. But they were all wounded and almost out of power.

Their leader took a deep breath, ready to order everyone to attack and try to help; at least they could sacrifice themselves. Even if they were killed quickly, if they managed to kill many of the enemies, it would already be a great victory. Then... his eyes bulged.

With a single movement...

A rain of blood... a true massacre unfolded before their eyes. In seconds, practically all the Twilight Owls that charged had their bodies shattered and torn apart brutally.

In the middle of the attack, that second leader instinctively felt like he had punched a wall of steel, then hurriedly retreated, losing only one leg.

"Just wait, the Twilight Owls will hunt you to the end of the world!"

In an instant, that man disappeared into a kind of blood totem, but his furious roar echoed across the land.

He abandoned everything without hesitation, even his own leader, who was still alive and being held by Niara.

*BOOM!*

The blood totem suddenly exploded, enveloping the flying boat in its light. At the same time, Darian’s expression changed... into a sinister smile.

"He actually put a tracking mark on us? Excellent, now I don’t need to go after them. Looks like we’ll profit quite a lot, very soon."
