Damned Healer-Chapter 600: Karmic Connection
Darian grabbed another spear, but this time his black power covered it. He managed to kill only a few and devour their karma. Apparently, devouring the karma of the natives of that universe did not cause the laws of the universe itself to strip the energy from his body.
*BOOM!*
A wave of power coming from the spear, combined with the black power, sliced through the air, moving horizontally.
Any life form touched by that wave was torn to pieces. A mist of blood filled the air.
Darian had reached the point where he no longer cared about settling things with words. With a single strike, all the life forms attacking him were annihilated.
Darian was not a simple Spiritual Guardian, whose power lay almost entirely in the soul. His body had been nurtured and gone through countless transformations. Even without any power and unable to fully activate his primordial physique, his raw strength was still terrifying.
Between Niara without her Bloodline and Darian without his power, Darian clearly had a superior body and overall capability, not even counting his curse. Therefore, Niara's decision had been the right one.
The more distant life forms were stunned, clearly not expecting him to be this powerful.
Suddenly, a peculiar life form appeared. It resembled a giant gorilla, with a face full of wrinkles. Its spear made the world tremble as it charged toward Darian.
Darian snorted. Without daring to hesitate, he moved the black power he had been constantly devouring.
*BOOM!*
The gorilla was blasted away, and the sight shocked the other life forms. That enemy was probably the strongest among them, yet it still failed to defeat Darian.
The gorilla was truly powerful, enough to make Darian feel a tingling sensation in his arms. These life forms possessed a strange power, something he had never encountered before.
Advancing stealthily, a dozen attacks shot toward him.
Darian grabbed another spear and slashed the air, destroying those sinister attacks. They were the same black bone spears that had struck him sneakily before.
Suddenly, the gorilla stood up and leaped toward the spider's head. A mark appeared on the spider's head, and it…
...swallowed the gorilla!
"What the hell?!"
Darian watched all of that, even more confused.
A fierce aura suddenly exploded from the spider's body. The earth shook as its eight legs bent.
It leapt toward Darian. The scene looked straight out of a horror movie.
The spider was like a war fortress emerging from hell, charging straight at him. Its attack was powerful and fast, reaching Darian in the blink of an eye.
He struck with his spear, but sparks flew when it hit. It was like striking metal, and Darian was thrown backward.
Next, the spider's fangs came down on him as fast as lightning.
Darian was surprised. That was probably an earth-attributed beast.
Some things still worked the same way in that universe. He was able to deduce its essence. However, within that earth essence, there was a different energy, something that only existed in that universe.
Darian's foot touched the air, and he jumped backward, barely dodging the spider's attack. Its fangs snapped shut exactly where he had been, creating a visible ripple in the air.
The spider opened its mouth and launched a ball of light. The sphere spread rapidly, forming a giant web.
A multicolored liquid dripped from the web, releasing a sweet and poisonous aroma into the air. Darian activated his white power, creating a protective aura around himself and Niara.
'That spider must be a Beast under contract. That gorilla is controlling it from inside its body.'
Darian deduced this based on the precise attacks and quick reactions. That beast had hollow fluctuations, as if its reasoning was minimal. Therefore, it could only attack with such precision if it was being commanded.
At first, it was clearly a stupid beast, but now it had suddenly become smart. This was clearly the work of a beast tamer.
*PENG! PENG!*
Fire arrows began raining down toward Darian. The other creatures drew bows to attack him from afar and provide support.
"Oh? Perfect timing," Darian muttered, excited.
Even while being attacked from all directions, Darian still magically dodged every strike. But this time, when the arrows passed by, the fire remained frozen in the air.
He controlled everything with a smile on his face.
With a snap of his fingers, the flames moved and surged toward the spider, incinerating the web. It was clearly vulnerable to fire.
At that exact moment, the spider let out a sharp roar filled with pain. Bone spurs burst from its legs, filling the air as it attacked even more brutally.
The gorilla was clearly enraged and wanted to crush Darian as quickly as possible, even if that meant sacrificing its Beast.
Darian smiled. "Die!"
That suicidal strike was powerful, but also full of openings. To Darian, it was as if he were a skinny shark, almost out of strength, fighting a small but vigorous fish.
Even being weak, with only a slim chance, he could still crush it. That chance had now appeared.
Without hesitating, he moved all the black power and fire that had been generously handed to him.
*BOOM!*
The spider had just unleashed an extremely powerful move when it was struck head-on at a weaker point of its body.
However, Darian was shocked to realize that its body was absurdly tough. With its legs firmly planted on the ground, it absorbed energy from the earth. He had thought that the strike would crush it nearly to death, but now he saw that it had suffered no injuries at all.
But... in that brief instant of contact, Darian felt the Earth energy being consumed by it. A golden mark shone on its head.
Darian snorted, then waved his hand.
The power coming from the Earth that it was absorbing was suddenly dominated by him. Then, Darian allowed that energy to invade its body, without the spider even noticing.
Everything happened very fast, and the beast's lack of natural intelligence helped a lot.
*BOOM!*
The spider exploded grotesquely from the inside out.
The other life forms went insane at the sight. All of them, howling frantically, charged at him.
"Fuck you all!"
Darian roared and attacked with everything he had. Now that he had fought using those bone spears for a while, he was able to extract and control the power contained within the weapons much better.
Those life forms were hit by a terrifying force. They, who used weapons born from their own bodies, could not extract even 1% of the power Darian managed to draw out.
Their screams echoed through the air as they were slaughtered like ants.
After a few seconds, Darian sighed. It was over...
A large army of those creatures had been killed. Then, suddenly, coming from far away, a loud boom echoed along with fierce screams.
Another battle was happening in the distance. Darian moved to take a look and then saw a group of reddish-skinned creatures fighting, wearing beast skins all over their bodies.
These life forms were almost identical to humans, but their auras were completely different, and they had four arms. They wielded bows in their arms and immediately started shooting when they saw another large group of the same life forms that had attacked Darian.
Those arrows were exceptionally sharp and capable of curving through the air. Every single one hit its target. Despite being extremely primitive wooden arrows, they cut down those creatures with ease. They seemed to be poisoned and had a special effect on their enemies.
Each arrow appeared to cause immense pain. If they were hit by more than a few, their movements slowed down. More than that, they could only groan while crying on the ground, completely paralyzed.
Tens of thousands of 'human-like' life forms appeared, but the other side also had a considerable number. Both sides were evenly matched, and both noticed Darian from afar, becoming wary of him.
"Did I interrupt a battle between these races?" Darian thought.
Thinking about it a bit, Darian felt like he was a magnet for chaos and wars. Whenever he went to an unknown place, he always ended up running into bloody battles and conflicts like this.
Any normal person would prefer not to get involved, since it was impossible to know which side would win or who was truly righteous... if such a thing even existed.
But Darian was completely different. He had his curse and could always choose the correct side. Not always the strongest one, but he always found a way to turn the situation around.
So, for him, a war was always a great opportunity. He could easily befriend one of the sides, obtain information, and so on.
The karma on both sides was not very different overall. There were many deeply black karmas, and others that were moderate on both sides. That made Darian a bit thoughtful about which side to choose.
Suddenly, those life forms with bone spears decided that he was a threat and began to attack him.
The other side, however, left him alone. This made Darian sigh, understanding which side he should lean toward.
He counterattacked, killing those who came at him. On one side, he obliterated anyone who got close, while on the other, a rain of arrows fell upon them.
Suddenly, one of those archers dashed across the battlefield with agility.
"!"
Darian's eyes changed abruptly. He felt something he had not felt in a very long time.
'A karmic connection...'
He noticed it clearly. That figure was karmically connected to him in some way.
Darian stared and deduced that it was a very young woman, although it was hard to say for sure. Everyone looked similar due to the war gear covering their bodies. On top of that, he couldn't clearly sense Yin/Yang because of the chaos of the battle.
The figure kept a safe distance as she stopped in front of Darian. When she opened her mouth, she spoke a few strange syllables toward him.
"I don't understand what you're saying." Darian shrugged. But by her tone of voice, he was certain it was a woman.
She seemed to be panicking. She pointed at the other life forms, said a few more strange words, and started gesturing. Darian was completely lost.
Realizing that he didn't understand, she began to retreat in a hurry. When she noticed that he wasn't following, she made an almost desperate gesture for him to come after her.
Darian had no idea what she wanted, but he didn't sense any hostility from her. On top of that, he was very curious about the connection he supposedly had with her. So, he decided to follow her cautiously.
They crossed the battlefield. The other life forms glared at them with hatred and tried to attack.
She was short and agile, easily dodging the attacks. She blocked only a small portion of them and evaded the rest with ease.
As for Darian, he simply swung a bone spear in his hand, destroying everything around him. Those life forms were torn apart, yet others continued to attack him.
*BOOM!*
An explosive sound echoed, and the woman pointed in that direction.
Another explosion reverberated. The ground began to sink, and space twisted violently. As the void opened, a gigantic spatial rift spread rapidly.
The woman let out a startled scream and fled in a hurry. Darian was also stunned, feeling something ominous. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
'Did these life forms choose mutual destruction?!'
