Damned Healer-Chapter 612: Sacred Treasures
Before, those memories inside Darian were like a library of indescribable proportions, where all the books were completely mixed together, with no titles or any indication of what was there. That happened because Darian had very little control over time and couldn't sense, through the flow, what he wanted to access.
But the Roc was smart and left everything prepared to be handed to the missionary: the memories themselves, as well as the tool needed for him to use them perfectly. Now, Darian watched everything rapidly inside his mind.
He saw an ordinary universe, filled with galaxies, planets, and life. Then, little by little, that small world began to crumble. The process took centuries, and the Roc had enough time to understand what was happening and try to save the universe.
To do that, his power alone wasn't enough. The Roc was a mid-tier Primordial Beast, and that entire universe was also mid-tier. To compare, it was like a Primordial Dragon being a level 100 boss, while he was just a small level 10 mob.
But… this universe wasn't ordinary.
Darian felt his heart race. He knew it; Heaven's Will had guided him to this place.
In the past, this had been one of the universes where his religion existed. So, when he saw the universe's imminent destruction, the last Heralds who followed his religion received instructions from him, so the people could be saved.
However, he could only give instructions; he couldn't interfere directly. The Roc didn't run from his responsibility. He was born to protect and create life in that place.
So, he sacrificed himself to preserve thousands of lands with many different forms of life, which eventually became the islands.
And also… he saved the universe's central power, splitting it into four parts, which became the four Sacred Treasures.
Even though it was a mid-tier universe, by removing the core of the four central powers and accumulating them, those treasures became Artifacts beyond any existing measure. And on top of that…
…those four Sacred Treasures together could open the Sacred Temple. It was sealed by the highest-level Void power, exactly where the Immortal Chaos Essence was, at the center of the universe.
Darian opened his eyes. For the people around him, only a few seconds had passed, but for him, it had been many hours.
He now felt relieved and excited. He had lost the missions to travel to universes and retrieve the books, but now, by following alternative and random routes, he was being led to those very places.
A new book was waiting for him, but to reach it, he needed to obtain four incredible treasures. In other words, it couldn't be better.
Darian focused his attention on the boy. After the Roc's death, all the memories became tangled and fragmented. Apparently, the Roc's corpse recorded everything it saw while traveling through the universe, which made it hard for it to have witnessed something truly important at the right place and the right time. In short, Darian had little or incomplete information about what happened after his death.
"Kid, let's go back to the beginning. What happened to your clan?"
The young man clenched his fists tightly. He took a deep breath and spat out the words, filled with rage:
"The Primordial Empire joined forces with the Nether Beasts in an ambush. They destroyed everything, and the Nether Beasts spared no one among the population. As for the Empire… they took everything of value… or almost everything…"
He stared straight into Darian's eyes.
"I'm the last of my race. Luckily, my father knew something was happening and taught me how to disguise myself and hide my Bloodline perfectly. That's how I lived my entire life hidden in the City of the Heaven Seal, and escaped that calamity."
"Everyone disappeared…" His eyes trembled, and tears fell like a dam breaking. "I can't die… and also…" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
He waved his hand, showing a broken, pulsing pearl to Darian. A grayish light, accompanied by an immense Void power, filled the surroundings.
At that moment, Ailik, who was sleeping on Darian's back, suddenly opened her eyes; it was as if she had been struck by lightning.
"This is the Sacred Treasure: *Heart of the Void*," the young man said, his face lit up. "My father sent me away along with it. That's why the Empire conspired to destroy us; they wanted to steal this from us, but they failed."
Darian nodded lightly.
"Why are you telling me all this now?" Before, he had been cautious, but now the young man was suddenly revealing extremely important things.
The young man took a deep breath.
"That's because…" He opened his palm, and then the pearl floated up, leaving his hand on its own.
It moved toward Darian, stopping in front of him and trembling, as if it had a will of its own and wanted him to take it.
The young man sighed.
"The rulers of the three great islands each possess one of the Treasures. But all of them can only use a tiny remnant of their power. You, on the other hand… I saw it with my own eyes and felt it with my own senses… you are a missionary?"
Darian snorted.
"The Roc left this with you and said I'd come get it?"
The young man nodded. "Yes, but that was already forgotten by everyone else. Only my race tried to preserve and follow the words of God Roc, waiting for the missionary to arrive."
Darian understood why the Roc had chosen to leave this in the hands of mortals. Those three islands were the core of everything, and they needed the power of the three items there to keep all the other islands and life forms stable.
But the struggle for power and chaos had already borne fruit. One of the great powers had fallen, and the other two would eventually begin to self-destruct. In the end, in a few millennia, everything would probably collapse, and the islands would sink completely.
"Sir, you're the only one who can use the full power of the Treasures. As for the fourth Sacred Treasure, it was hidden from everyone, and the Roc said that when it appeared, it would mean the missionary had arrived. The one who would rebuild the universe and return it to what it once was..."
The young man spoke emotionally, and Darian's eyes widened at what he heard.
"Hehe... the Roc really knew his stuff..." Niara let out a soft chuckle.
Darian, however, felt a tight knot of despair. How the hell was he supposed to do something like that? He barely had enough power to save himself right now and had only escaped by the skin of his teeth by fleeing to this place.
"Master... may I?" Ailik's voice sounded softly, her face close to Darian's shoulder.
He nodded and moved the Heart of the Void toward her. Ailik's eyes lit up as she raised both hands and carefully held that treasure.
Immediately, the third eye on her forehead opened, and her entire body began to emit a grayish glow.
"What?!" the young man exclaimed, completely stunned.
She could actually use its full power!
At that moment, Darian snorted, finally understanding. He was destined to reach the temple and retrieve the book, and for that, he needed the four Treasures.
As for Ailik, she was someone born in that universe and possessed all the necessary attributes to help him to the fullest. She was an anomaly in that world, and at the same time, that explained her karmic connection with Darian.
It was as if Heaven's Will had incarnated within her, placing everything into her being, simply waiting for Darian to arrive.
Possibly, she was a rare and outstanding soul, one worthy of receiving all of this. Heaven's Will had combined the useful with the convenient.
Darian looked straight at the young man in front of him.
"You're going to hand this over to me, right?"
The young man nodded, still trembling.
"Ailik, you're good at using the power of the Void. And the name of this treasure is self-explanatory. So take care of it and learn how to use it for me," Darian murmured.
"Yes, master!" She nodded eagerly, holding the artifact with shining eyes.
Darian then turned back to the young man.
"Now I have two of these treasures, and I'm going after the other two. You know the City of the Heaven Seal well. And you also want revenge on that Empire, right?"
The young man's eyes lit up as he understood.
"You can help me a bit. I'll go to that city to see the situation. I'm not irrational enough to go around killing everyone just to get what I want. But... afterward, I'll go to the Empire, and I promise you your revenge. They don't deserve for me to waste time negotiating anything."
Darian spoke as he activated his curse, observing the young man's karma, still black, but with an almost grayish tone. He was a soul in regeneration, walking toward complete purification in the future.
"You're coming with us?" Darian asked directly.
"Yes!" he roared, immediately kneeling down.
Niara moved swiftly and pulled him back up. She knew Darian liked that kind of attitude.
Darian sighed. Now, he had found a path to follow. But at the same time, he remembered his adoptive daughter. Where would she be? Had she come to the central islands, or was she trapped on some random island?
She had already been alone for five years. Unfortunately, all he could do was move forward, hoping she was safe. In the end, he could ask his master for help in finding her.
