Damned Healer-Chapter 614: Lively And Warm Welcome
Niara gently flapped her wings, but moved like a devastating bolt of lightning. Just like that, without any warning, she landed a clean punch on that group of half a dozen lewd figures.
A loud boom echoed through the air. The group slammed into the ground and rolled several meters away.
By the time Herta and Hart reacted, Niara was already back in her original spot, smiling proudly at Darian.
"Ah!"
Only then did those figures let out screams like pigs being slaughtered. Niara’s movements had been far too bizarre and fast for them to follow. On top of that, they hadn’t expected it at all, since fighting was forbidden there.
Still, she really had attacked. Even if they had been on guard, it would probably have been impossible to escape that blow.
The most terrifying part was that, with a single move, all of them were coughing up blood, and on top of that, horrifying black marks covered their bodies.
That was Darian’s black power, which Niara now always had available inside her cores to use.
But she wasn’t Darian, and she didn’t have perfect control over that black power. In the end, it only had an extremely terrifying and painful poisonous potential. If they had time to swallow pills and focus on removing it, nothing permanent would happen. Of course, in a real fight, Niara would never allow someone to do that, so it would be fatal.
Seconds after the black marks appeared, parts of their bodies began to rot instantly. The leader who had spoken earlier had been hit in the face by Niara, and his jaw had turned black, with dark liquid dripping from it.
"You’re courting death!" the leader roared. Suddenly, a long spear appeared in his hand, and his power erupted.
"Fighting is forbidden in front of the City of the Heaven Seal. Who dares break this rule?!" At that moment, an icy shout rang out, and eight guards in silver armor appeared before them.
Those guards were at the mid Heaven Saint Realm, with the strongest at level seven and the others at level six. The realms were divided into nine levels, and the gap between the early and mid stages was enormous.
"She attacked first!"
The leader of those savages immediately pointed at Niara, furious. With his mouth nearly rotted away, his voice was also affected, making his outrage look even more shocking and comical.
"They’re with me, sirs." Suddenly, Ramel turned to the guards and spoke politely.
"Sorry for the trouble. I’m willing to offer this in exchange for forgiveness." Ramel fearlessly took out a tablet. At its center was a carved golden skeletal head.
When the guards saw the tablet, all of them were shocked.
"It’s a golden tablet!" people in the line exclaimed loudly.
The moment those guards saw the golden tablet in Ramel’s hand, the way they looked at him changed completely.
The leader of the guards took the tablet and examined it carefully. After confirming it was authentic, he could hardly believe it.
"You’ve already killed a Nether Beast at the peak of the Heaven Saint Realm?" Herta asked, covering her mouth in disbelief.
Darian knew what that tablet represented. It was a symbol of high status within the city.
Only someone who had personally killed an extremely powerful Nether Beast and delivered its head to the City could obtain such a tablet.
The City of the Heaven Seal had its own methods to confirm whether the person had truly slain the creature. It was impossible to fake, because Nether Beasts at that level infected their killer with a curse.
If anyone else had been present during the battle, even without helping, the challenger wouldn’t pass the test. Only those who defeated the creature completely alone were approved and received a golden tablet.
The golden tablet granted free use of all public facilities in the city, including the best cultivation rooms, training areas, and much more. It provided access to over a hundred different services at no cost.
The holder of a golden tablet had almost unrestricted access to the city and was treated as a VIP everywhere.
Ailik had also heard Ramel explain the tablets before, but he had never mentioned owning a golden one. She was shocked; Ramel’s cultivation was at the early Heaven Saint Realm, just like hers, yet he had already managed to kill something at the peak of that realm?
His race was extremely powerful, but he also had his own talent and merits. After all, he was alone now and had no protection. Also, he could never afford to act with full force and expose himself.
Those who had been beaten by Niara were also shocked when they saw the tablet.
"So you thought you could break the City’s rules just because you have a golden tablet? Hmph! Let’s see what happens after you lose it! Once we enter the city, I’ll make sure you learn the fate of those who offend the Scarlet Cloud Clan!" the savage leader shouted.
Niara let out an ironic chuckle. "Oh, a cliché young master from a pathetic clan... couldn’t you be a bit more creative?!"
"YOU’RE TIRED OF LIVING!" the six of them roared in fury.
Niara burst out laughing. "Hahaha... what? I don’t understand a word you’re saying. That mouth of yours suits you perfectly. You look like a pig trying to bark."
Darian sighed. He was the type who only acted when provoked, but Niara was the opposite: she loved chaos and provoking without limits.
He felt like he had unleashed a hungry wolf into the middle of a flock of sheep. Still, sensing her racing heart and happiness, he was more than content to let her do whatever she wanted. He would deal with the consequences later.
"City guards, she attacked and maliciously injured people in front of the city gates! By the rules, all of them should be arrested!" the group’s leader shouted, unable to vent his anger any other way.
The leader of the guards looked at Ramel, then at those present, and finally turned back to that man, saying coldly, "You were the ones who provoked them first with your disgusting words. Why else would they attack you?"
"Guards! You—"
"Silence! Both sides were at fault. I’ll record this incident and settle things with both of you when I have time."
After saying that, the guard returned the tablet to Ramel and, in a low voice, only loud enough for a few to hear, added, ’I can only help this much. The future will depend on you.’
Ramel was surprised. He hadn’t expected that guard to be so biased in his favor. He had no relationship with the guards, and no one knew his origin.
"You’re abusing your authority!" the leader of that group roared.
"Shut up. Even your teeth are already turning black. If you don’t focus on resisting this curse, you might end up losing your lives," the guard mocked.
Then he announced loudly, "Attention, everyone! Since you came to the City of the Heaven Seal, you must respect our rules. Anyone who dares cause trouble will be severely punished."
After saying that, he disappeared along with the rest of the guards, leaving the crowd stunned.
Only one group kept grumbling, overflowing with righteous indignation.
Ordinary people were completely confused, not understanding what had happened. However, anyone who wasn’t blind could tell that those guards had clearly been biased in Ramel’s favor.
All eyes focused on him as people began speculating about his background. From that, Darian deduced that the golden tablet was clearly far more special than even Ramel himself had imagined.
Niara was enjoying the painful screams of those people, especially the one with the rotting mouth. She mocked them, "Hey, can you keep it down? What happened to all that arrogance of yours? Keep screaming, and maybe I’ll dig a filthy hole and bury all of you in it."
"Your B—" The leader almost cursed at her, but swallowed his words midway when he felt a pair of red eyes fixed on him. Cold sweat ran down his body. Instinctively, he felt that if he called her something too degrading, he wouldn’t live much longer.
That figure ground his teeth in fury, but didn’t dare continue. "You... just wait!"
The leader spat on the ground and moved farther back in the line.
Everything fell silent. At that moment, Herta, wearing a wide smile, walked up to Niara.
The two of them blended in as if they were already part of the group.
They chatted for a bit. Darian learned that their race had its own region inside the city. They had been born in a forest on the island, and upon reaching the Heaven Saint Realm, they were given permission to go to the city and join the main race.
Since Ramel had nowhere to go and they planned to stay there for a while, they were more than happy to tag along with the two of them. Darian, for his part, was curious to better understand that race.
The line moved quickly. In a few hours, it was their turn to register.
Darian, Niara, and Ailik gave their names and received a newcomer’s tablet; all they had to do next was drip a drop of blood onto it to complete the process.
Darian was the last one. Just as he was about to finish—
"Stop right there!"
At that moment, another group of people came rushing over furiously.
Niara’s eyes lit up. Darian turned to see a new group of guards approaching.
When they saw the guards, the people who had previously been provoked by Niara became radiant. That leader roared excitedly, "Now let’s see how you die!"
This newly arrived group of guards was made up of eight people, and their leader in particular radiated an extremely powerful aura.
They were at the late stages of the Heaven Saint Realm. Feeling their killing intent, the people around hurriedly retreated, opening space for them.
Darian was about to drip a drop of blood onto his tablet, but the administrator in charge took the incomplete tablet back. Looking at the guards, he asked, "Everyone, is there some problem?"
"This individual caused trouble earlier. Who gave him permission to enter the city?" shouted the leader of the newly arrived guards.
"A senior has already settled that matter. Why shouldn’t they be allowed to enter the city?" the administrator frowned, feeling slightly irritated.
Despite holding a lower position than the guards, everyone had their own responsibilities and shouldn’t interfere in others’ affairs. The administrator found it annoying to be approached so aggressively, as if he were being scolded by a superior.
"He abused his position, and these two didn’t respect the rules. They’re clearly not good people. They might be enemy infiltrators! Look at that woman, she clearly has a strange aura. Capture them, we’ll interrogate them!" ordered the guard leader.
When he waved his hand, the other guards pointed their spears at Darian and his group. Seeing this, Herta and Hart grew serious.
When Niara was about to move, Darian snorted. She stopped immediately, understanding.
He shrugged. "Looks like we’ll only get some peace after killing a few idiots."
"How dare you! You’re still so arrogant with death right in front of you?!" one of the newly arrived guards shouted.
Darian looked at the guards and then at Ramel, asking, "Are they trying to provoke us into attacking?"
Ramel’s eyes lit up as he remembered the rules. "That’s right! They’re restricted by the rules of this place. Since we didn’t attack, they can’t either. But the moment we do, they’ll have a reason to strike."
"Tch, how annoying. That takes all the fun out of it," Niara snorted. "If you don’t have the guts to attack us, then fuck off!"
"You...!" The leader of the group trembled with rage, but still didn’t attack. In truth, their furious rush over here was meant to scare them into attacking or fleeing, giving them an excuse to kill them.
However, Darian saw through them and asked, and then Ramel remembered the rules. Their plan collapsed immediately.
"Why don’t you try touching me? I promise I’ll leave you talking like a tongue-less ogre," Niara mocked, waving her hand. Then she turned to Darian and asked, "If they attack, I can counterattack, right?"
Darian turned to Ramel. He nodded and said, "Even if you kill them, you’ll only be taken to the city court, and they’ll judge your innocence."
"Alright. Come on then! Or get your asses out of here! Dan is a busy man. Stop bothering us with this useless crap," Niara said, puffing out her chest.
Darian looked at the administrator responsible for handing out the tablets. "Do you need their approval?"
The administrator handed the tablet back to Darian and replied, "Of course not. Just put a drop of your blood on it, and the tablet is yours."
Darian was about to take the tablet when the void trembled, and a powerful force sucked it away.
"All of them are suspicious! They are not allowed to enter."
As a slimy voice rang out, a long-haired man appeared out of nowhere, casually standing there with his hands clasped behind his back.
Even though he looked like he wasn’t doing anything, Darian’s tablet was mysteriously flying toward him. Darian could sense that this was a technique that used soul power.
"That’s Giltei, the genius of the Scarlet Cloud Clan!" someone exclaimed from behind upon recognizing him. Giltei was an important figure in the city.
Darian snorted. Without any visible movement, he activated his domain, making the air tremble. The tablet, which had been hovering in midair, stopped abruptly.
"!" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Giltei’s eyes, along with those of the guards, widened in shock. The tablet was calmly pulled back toward Darian.
Everyone immediately assumed that Darian was also a soul power specialist. People like that weren’t especially rare in that universe, but they weren’t common either.
However, the ability to compress soul power to an almost imperceptible level pointed to an absurd level of control. The strength of both Darian and Giltei was so great that it exceeded the understanding of most.
And the fact that the tablet was now returning to Darian meant that—
*BOOM!*
With a muffled, explosive sound, everyone saw Giltei take a step back, his face twisted in pain.
"What?!"
All the strongest people present were stunned, including the eight guards. Giltei was a renowned soul power specialist. Yet, in a clash within the same domain, he had clearly and overwhelmingly lost, like a child trying to compete in strength with an adult.
Darian grabbed his tablet and pulled it back to his side. Then he looked at Giltei indifferently.
"Soul Power? I never really trained that seriously." Then he turned to Niara.
She waved her hand, her face full of disbelief. "Meh, I don’t even think that counts as soul power. So, another ridiculous Young Master just showed up? This is getting kind of stupid, don’t you think?"
"You...!"
Giltei roared. He had never felt so humiliated in his entire life. Murderous intent exploded in his eyes.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?!"
Giltei spoke coldly. All the newly arrived guards understood his look. Without any hesitation, blades appeared in their hands. It seemed that the rules of that city could be quite flexible, depending on who was using them.
In an instant, the temperature dropped as a dense killing intent spread through the area.
Niara wore a wide grin on her face. It was an extremely lively and warm welcome.
