Damned Healer-Chapter 651: Fists And Brain
Hundreds of Nether Beasts burst out of the spatial channel in a single instant. At their front stood a woman with a humanoid appearance. Her scaly skin had a grayish tone, with two horns, a long tail, and sharp claws. Her expression was cold, with a bloodthirsty aura surrounding her. She was the Queen and the most powerful figure of that race.
Even though those beasts lacked sound minds and naturally leaned toward chaos and destruction, they were still capable of fearing a superior power. That woman was exactly that. Either the Nether Beasts bowed and obeyed her orders, or they died brutally. That was how she ruled them, with an iron hand.
On the other side, a human man arrived alone and drew his sword. He shared some very clear physical similarities with the Emperor.
Those three, alongside Alaric, were the most powerful figures in the universe, and none of them had ever imagined they would fight together in a single battle.
The woman gestured and drew a bone spear. Darian saw it and immediately recognized her: she was from the same race of Nether Beasts he had encountered when he first arrived in this universe.
All the Nether Beasts moved in perfect sync, surrounding the entire region. They covered both sky and land, sealing off every escape route across a vast area in an instant.
Niara snorted. That army of Nether Beasts, despite being considered insane and nearly irrational, was well-trained and knew how to fight together. If, from the very start, they had been the ones attacking while the others provided support, with the power they possessed, things would have been far more troublesome.
"No need to hold back," Darian murmured softly to Niara.
At that moment, Niara smiled and stepped forward. Her wings spread wide, and then her body pulsed.
Those three stopped in their tracks, their eyes narrowing.
*Divine Dragon Possession*
The power of the Void and the Nether trembled. The world lost its color. Niara became the only light, her presence like that of a Goddess staring down at mere ants.
Before, Niara had only briefly activated her physique, without fully stirring her Bloodline. But now, nothing was held back.
The three stared at that Dragoness in shock. Especially the two humans from the Primordial Empire, as they recognized part of that power... it came from a primordial beast. But not just anyone; it was something even above the Roc!
They were shocked and confused. Even so, they didn’t hesitate for even a second.
If anything, it only reinforced their certainty that they couldn’t afford to underestimate her.
The Emperor took a deep breath and drew his sword. Beside him stood his older brother, also gripping a sword.
Darian had already heard about this through Sylvanos. The Primordial Empire had received a technique created by the God Roc himself before his death, meant to protect the people of the universe.
That Primordial Beast had sensed that the power of the Nether could give rise to terrifyingly powerful things in the future. There was a high chance that all the life he sacrificed himself to save could one day be destroyed by some corrupted race.
Because of that, the Roc studied the power of the Void and created a high-level cultivation technique capable of easing one’s comprehension of the Void.
That technique required an immense amount of resources, was extremely difficult to practice, and demanded thousands of years of study from each individual. Everyone in the Royal family cultivated it, but only one or two per generation managed to break through to the Emperor Saint Realm with its help.
Normally, only those at the end of their lifespan ever reached that peak. That was the case for the Emperor and his brother, both already considered elderly and not long for this world, despite not looking old physically.
That was the greatest potential of the Primordial Empire. They could produce Primordial Chosens every generation and, on top of that, always had more than one figure standing at the very peak of power in the universe.
People always thought this was an absurd cheat, imagining that one day the Empire might create a Primordial Chosen capable of breaking through to the Emperor Saint Realm. But that never happened.
The Roc wasn’t an idiot and knew humans well; he couldn’t grant them too much power. Because of that, his Sacred Treasure carried a restriction: those who became Primordial Chosens had to abandon that cultivation technique and could only advance realms through their own comprehension.
Even so, the Empire could still create two terrifying types of figures. Still, unfortunately for them, that wasn’t enough to place them as the number one power in the universe.
The sealing power of the City’s Sacred Treasure could deal with any figure that wasn’t a divinity, preventing them from even dreaming of attacking the city. Because of this, a grand plan was formed to control the four clans and destroy the Celsiel family from the inside out.
As for the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow, they also possessed the ability to kill anyone, even someone far stronger than themselves.
In the end, the Roc made a mistake by granting those things to the humans of this universe. As generations passed, their greed only grew, leading them to carefully plot how to dominate the universe.
By the present day, the humans of the Primordial Empire had practically destroyed the three primordial beasts and were now just one step away from domination... and possibly from ruining all life in the universe, doing exactly the opposite of what the Roc had asked of them.
On the battlefield.
"GO!"
The two charged forward side by side.
Their swords suddenly pulsed. A blinding light burst from the blades, making the entire surroundings hum.
Darian watched closely, having already studied this in depth himself. Over time, the Primordial Empire had begun creating variant techniques that abused the comprehension method left behind by the God Roc. The strongest of them was called the Void Sword.
This power was only possible thanks to the comprehension potential left by the God Roc. Even so, very few could use it, and at present, only those two were capable of doing so.
That strike consumed a third of all their energy in a single move, but the offensive power of that blade was devastating. It was a divine execution technique; at the moment it was unleashed, very few beings in the universe could withstand it and survive.
And at that instant, two users of that blade advanced at the same time, heading in a single direction.
That dual move, even if the Divine Nether Beast were still alive and it were used against it, would make it feel threatened. The only options would be to flee or use 100% of its power to defend.
They attacked with absolute confidence that they would either kill their target or force those two to attempt to flee. Then, that Nether Beast woman would make her fatal move and finish them off.
That was her specialty: movement and explosive power, wielding the Nether.
It was a plan that couldn’t fail. They only needed to reach Alaric, but...
Niara beat her wings and shot forward.
The two didn’t hesitate. If she wanted to face them head-on, then they would kill her first and deal with Darian afterward. So they attacked together in perfect sync. Their blades practically merged, cutting toward a single point.
Her punch surged forward, accompanied by a wave of power.
**BOOM!**
Niara’s fist smashed straight into the blades.
In that instant, both of their expressions completely changed. Their faces went from pale to purple. Blood sprayed from their mouths as they were hurled backward.
"What?!"
The woman behind them stood there dumbfounded, her eyes almost popping out of their sockets.
"Hahaha... finally, this was driving me crazy! Now I can really fight!" Niara laughed loudly and beat her wings, charging straight at the two of them.
Both brothers forcibly stabilized themselves, still coughing up blood. They moved their swords calmly; the two had fought together countless times in many terrible battles.
They had spent thousands of years at war, facing countless Nether Beasts side by side. This duo was unique in history, as they worked together perfectly.
That was extremely rare. Even though both had once competed for the Emperor’s throne and only one had won, it never shook the trust they had in each other.
Because of that, they became the first in history to suppress the Nether Beasts and dominate them using their combined power.
That woman was the current Queen of the race, and she had been defeated by them. Then, to solidify control after that victory, the Emperor united with the Queen. That was how Murkum was born.
In short, these brothers had absolute confidence in their strength, but...
Niara didn’t care about any of that and unleashed a storm of attacks.
Her scales shone with terrifying primordial power, concentrating all her strength into her fists, which rained down endlessly on the two of them.
Those fists were like war hammers, repeatedly knocking their swords aside. Very quickly, the two felt completely suppressed and could only defend passively while retreating. Counterattacking was impossible.
"Kill Darian and attack the City Lord! We’ll keep her pinned!" the Emperor’s voice thundered toward the woman behind them.
Niara smiled sinisterly.
The woman, however, kept her cold, bloodthirsty expression unchanged. She shared the Emperor’s conclusion. To them, Niara was the real problem, the true source of power in that duo.
The Dragoness was the fists. Darian should be nothing more than the brain behind it all, someone without great power. Even if he surprised them, they still had to force him to flee.
At that moment, the woman snorted and pointed her bone spear at Darian.
With a single step, she shot forward, warping space itself.
In Niara’s eyes, a greenish emerald glow appeared. A different kind of power suddenly erupted from her, and she beat her wings, distorting the space around her.
"!"
Suddenly, the two brothers’ eyes widened in shock.
She vanished!
Then...
Niara appeared right in front of the woman, making her halt in stunned disbelief.
"Who gave you permission to attack him?" Niara spat as she punched.
*BANG!*
With a violent explosion, the woman was blasted away, coughing up blood.
When she hurriedly got back up... her body trembled. Black lines spread across her entire face, crawling over the rest of her body.
From afar, Darian casually waved his hand, controlling his black power.
That power now belonged to Niara, but it was still his black power. Niara didn’t think much about strategy, but she was an absurdly experienced fighter. She hadn’t used her full strength from the start, making those two believe they could hold her back.
When the woman charged, Niara caught her by surprise, unleashing all the black power she had been storing inside her body.
The black power in her hands alone didn’t have that much offensive capability. But Darian was right there behind her, able to control it to maximize its effect and lethality.
All it took was a single opening.
And so... 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"AH!"
The woman began to roar in agony. Her eyes bulged as her entire body turned black. In just a few seconds... she collapsed.
"Impossible!" the Emperor shouted, stunned.
He felt it... all of that woman’s vitality and power...
...completely drain away. She was dead!
