Damned Healer-Chapter 671: Terrifying Potential
The days passed quickly in that universe.
Everyone in the great army was fully focused. The Spiritual Sovereigns received the technique to create the Manifestation of the Universe and returned to their own universes to practice. As for the immortals and those with nine rings, they focused completely on creating the Primordial Bead for their respective races.
That was the key technique Darian obtained in his last S-rank mission, allowing people to become immortal. Only Darian managed to do this for Humans; now, with so many possessing nine rings, most of them from other races, they needed to create their own versions by themselves.
At the same time, Veyle was creating terrifying things and learning a lot about alchemy. Haruto, alongside all the forgers, began studying and using the resources brought from the universes of the Spiritual Sovereigns.
Even though Howlyn had burned almost everything that existed in the academy, there were still two universes with plenty of available resources: the universe of Czaza and that of Alear.
In the universe of Aurix, only the golems had great value. Because of that, Tir and Eleri were taken there to help nurture and prepare them.
In the universe of Painita, that Yin Chaos Dragon Array was the most valuable thing. So she recruited all the best from Vadise who did not belong to the royal family, letting them prove themselves in that place.
As for the universe of Caliris, it was a dead place without power. After all, she did not fuse with it like the others, but devoured and destroyed it.
...
It was when everyone was deeply immersed in preparation that two figures from the Blood Race came to see Darian.
They were the ones the Celestial Shadow had turned into two primordial hearts, the primordial essence and the material essence, and whom Darian managed to save from the Sacred Tree of Enfield.
Over these thousands of years, the Blood Race had also multiplied throughout the universe and now had a large population. They were not the most outstanding in combat compared to all the other races, but they still possessed their own strengths and distinct traits.
The two figures were using metamorphosis and resembled two male humans with plain features.
"Sir, we finally managed it over these years... or almost," one of them said seriously.
Darian quickly recalled the last conversation he had with them. Even though he insisted that both of them could live their lives freely, they wanted to use what existed within them to create something and help Darian. (Chapter 513)
To create them, the Celestial Shadow placed its purest primordial power, as well as its will, into their true bodies. The amount they possessed was far greater than the Divine Dragon’s Will used to create the primordial heart in Niara.
The other figure continued, "Thanks to Lady Niara’s guidance, we managed to use our two forces to create a version of the primordial heart. At first, it seemed impossible, since we had primordial power but not the knowledge of a Primordial Beast. But... thanks to the Genesis Ore that Sir brought in the past, we discovered a path."
Darian grew excited. The Genesis Ore came from the universe of the Heavenly Beasts, and it was something extremely special to them, greatly facilitating their connection to the laws of the universe.
From the moment Darian learned of the existence of those things, he was certain that the Mannaz of this universe could benefit from them, because they possessed the Primordial Bloodline, which also connected easily to the laws.
However, when he brought everything back, the Mannaz had great difficulty using those materials. For them, it was almost as if there was no difference in material at all.
Not long after, during his wedding, Darian gave the royal family of Vadise items made from that material. It was a test. He then discovered that they could use it quite easily and that, for them, it was the best type of material possible.
That could only mean one thing: the Mannaz were the problem. They possessed an extremely subtle Bloodline, one that had become contaminated to an extreme degree over countless generations.
"But there’s still a major flaw," the first one continued. "We completed the method a little over a thousand years ago. We discussed it with the Vice-Leader, but she told us to prepare everything and that, once Sir returned, everything could be resolved."
"In short, we managed to create an embryonic primordial heart, which has the potential to evolve and nourish the entire body, if the Mannaz possesses a Spiritual Root identical to Lady Niara’s. However, for it to work, the Bloodline of an average Mannaz must be at least ten times denser than what they currently have."
Darian listened to that and took a deep breath. Then, he spoke with excitement:
"Great. In fact, this won’t be a problem for long. I will gather the entire Mannaz elite of the universe; you will create the embryonic primordial heart in all of them."
***
Almost a full year practically flew by, with everyone working intensely.
At that moment, Darian was standing in an open field. In front of him was an army of over a million Mannaz.
Most of them were Summoners, but there were also some ordinary ones, like the army of followers of the Divine Dragon. Almost all of this latter group were still the same ones Darian knew in the past; they were just halfway through their lives, because of their Draconic Bloodline.
As for all the other ordinary Mannaz, including the Elders and High Elders of the Academy, they had already died of old age.
Now, Darian needed to do something he had only managed once, a very long time ago, and back then, he had no idea how he did it: creating an awakened Spiritual Root in a Mannaz. (Chapter 4)
At that time, Niara had died, and Darian was still very naïve, hesitant, and a bit childish. But he managed to use her Bloodline to create his first ring and then, in some strange way, revived her and awakened her spiritual root.
When he met his master Meru, and she taught him everything about his curse in detail, he got a good idea of how he had done that.
Using the embryonic connection that already existed between him and Niara, Darian activated his control over energies and pulled out all the power of his own spiritual root, transferring it to her.
Yes, at the very beginning, Darian really did have an awakened spiritual root like he was supposed to, but he completely lost it when he handed it over to Niara.
By giving Niara an awakened spiritual root, her Bloodline acted automatically, using that to draw energy from the laws of the universe and revive the body, which had not yet produced Yin of Death.
Darian did the only thing possible to revive her, all of it without having any idea of what he was actually doing.
Meru told him that, because of Niara’s terrifying karma, it was very hard for her to live long or have any kind of luck in life. So her father warned her that there was a 99.99% chance she would die before, or shortly after Darian reached her side. That was because the laws of the world would do everything possible to screw her over.
Knowing this, Meru placed the curse on Darian and also set everything up so that, if he lost his partner, he could still live on alone without it. Darian was supposed to become like Alear is now, the first Spiritual Guardian without a Summoner.
In the end, everything moved exactly in that direction. Niara died, and Darian should have walked his entire path alone. The paths of the two of them would hardly ever cross again.
But... by some miracle, the naïve and completely unskilled Darian managed to instinctively make all of that happen. Even Meru couldn’t believe what he had done on his own.
Back in the present, Darian no longer had the power of a spiritual root to pass on to the Mannaz, so he had to test many things to make it work.
In the end, nothing he tried worked. Until...
"Master, the awakening of Spiritual Guardians is when the laws of the world move and give them power to nurture the spiritual root, right?"
Darian turned around and nodded. Awel was by his side, helping him think as if she were his second brain.
She was right. Darian had even seen it firsthand when the twins awakened together. Back then, Darian used his domain to move those energies and nurture them even more, and since he didn’t really know what he was doing, he ended up causing some problems.
Awel spoke with shining eyes, "Why not use my brothers to get that power? They can pray to Heaven’s Will and ask for anything, right? They could even heal corruption, so a bit of that energy coming from the laws shouldn’t be that hard."
Darian’s eyes widened. He had thought of many things and tested everything, but he had ended up forgetting about that. Awel smiled at his reaction; her smile was now very different from the cute little girl she once was, becoming far more enchanting.
Without delay, Darian summoned the army of Heavenly Elemental Spirits.
There were thousands of them, a large portion coming from the Devil and Celestial World, who, after seeing Tir, Eleri, and Awel change into a more mature physical form, also changed so they no longer looked like children. Another large portion came from the Sacred Tree of Enfield.
To make things easier, Darian called Niara over. She had absolute control over her Bloodline, so she completely sealed everything. This way, everyone could feel her awakened spiritual root and its pure energy, without any other interference.
All thousands of them gathered together and closed their eyes, fully focused.
This method of prayer was a technique taught by Enfield to those Heavenly Elemental Spirits who stayed in its small world.
There had to be many of them together, and only this race could use it. Not even the Heavenly Beasts, which were very closely related races, could do it. It was a kind of cheat that could give them the power to heal anything or grant them energy to fight.
In battles, the Heavenly Elemental Spirits, besides being extremely powerful with their elemental attacks, were the divine healers of the army.
Thanks to them, there were almost never any casualties in battle. This race, which had always been used by others, thanks to Darian’s support and help, was now revealing just how terrifying and powerful they could be when united.
And also, whenever Darian needed them for something...
...as always, they never disappointed him.
In just a few minutes, everyone received from the laws of the world a bit of the same power that awakened ones gain when they awaken.
Darian happily moved everything into the Inventory. Then, he focused once more on the Mannaz.
From that day on, the Mannaz were walking toward no longer depending on Spiritual Guardians to survive and fight.
Soon, everyone would be able to cultivate with the primordial heart. And just like Niara in the past was able to fight powerful Spiritual Guardians, they too had the potential to become truly terrifying.
