It has been a month since the team arrived at the Wasteland, more than a month since they left for the mission, as the travel burned almost ten days to reach the central area of the Wasteland.

The reason why it took so much time was that there are no true roads in the wasteland, which made even the native hunters lose direction, once in a while.

Moreover, before they arrived at the Wasteland, they hunted a lot of monsters along the path.

Though this is not an active warzone, there are still a lot of monsters present in the area. They hunted them for food supplies. The amount that the city provided was too low and would run out before their mission was completed, which they were sure of.

So, they collected food and water wherever they could before going deep into the Wasteland.

During their month-long stay, it has not been easy for them to be here. The temperatures during the day are very high, but at night they would drop to negative temperatures.

Also, there were a few times that they encountered some cult members. They were able to eliminate these scouts and even were able to extract details regarding some of their hidden locations, which the members were able to occupy after getting rid of the cult members there.

Inside, they found a few food and water supplies. Also, these hidden places were proven to be much better than their temporary camp sites, as these places remained hidden from the wasteland monsters that they came to learn about after arriving here.

The wasteland was supposed to be without life, maybe a few strays that wandered into these lands, but they encountered a lot of monsters, which made them rethink about the information that the wasteland had no life.

Another issue was that they only came out at night, never during the day.

The problem was not because they are powerful, but because they were slippery and couldn’t catch their tails easily at night.

If there are monsters, then there should be water nearby, but there were no rivers, lakes or any other type of water sources anywhere, at least the visible ones. It means that there are underground water sources.

The wasteland monsters should have found some source,s but they were very slippery. Even if they release them after injuring them to slow them a bit, for whatever reason, they disappear from vision at night.

When they tried to do so during the day, they didn’t move out of the shadows at all. When the team forced them out, they died out within ten minutes.

Seeing that, they understood that sunlight, for some reason, is dangerous for them. If there were researchers, they might have found why it was so, but there were none.

Though that was the case, they found the possible place of the anomaly that they were searching, two days prior.

What they found was a cave that was covered up by the surface rock.

There were writings on the caves, something none from the team could recognise. For this mission, which was not exactly an exploration team, no researchers or scholars were brought with the team.

If they were here, they might have decoded them.

The language is not of this world, but there were many ruins located in the world, which are studied extensively.

Even if it was not the same language from those ruins, they could have interpreted something and might have given a warning about the place, but to their mistake, the alliance team didn’t bring any researchers.

Inside the cave, they found many covered-up places, which were buried by time. They could identify that it was because a part of the walls or whatever was buried could be seen partially.

Hoping that they had found what they were looking for, James ordered them to clear a path to enter inside of whatever they had found. If he could get what was inside, he would be able to gain a lot of merits, or he could even keep what was inside if it was compatible with him.

What the team doesn’t know is that this was not the same place that the team from the cult accidentally found months ago, but they are all connected.

The team has been working for two days without much rest.

Normally, in situations like this, it would not be wise to work like that, but the team leader has already relayed the news about the discovery, and the alliance would be sending additional reinforcement soon.

So, James didn’t think that it would be bad if they worked a bit overtime, especially because he could already see the rewards that were promised for him.

After a month of time away without facing many dangers, they started to become complacent, even their leader, James.

A few seconds later, someone screamed in terror, "Wait, who is that?" with his eyes towards the sky. Others followed his eyes and saw something they never expected. There was someone flying in the sky, no, not flying, they stood in the air.

The attack came from that person, whom everyone was sure was the attacker, after remembering the attack angle.

The devastation that they just experienced is not something that ever faced before.

Though almost all had seen Rank-8 or Rank-9 fights, they had never seen the full power of those powerhouses, but they just did.

"Supreme is here", James shouted, "Rank-7 and below withdraw quickly. Others quickly activate the formations. Today, either he would die or become a prisoner".
