Chapter 1927: Chapter 1931: Truly Ashamed

Evening.

After dinner, Ye Xingbei played with Xiao Shumiao and Lingyue for a while. Around nine o’clock, she took them upstairs to sleep.

Xiao Shumiao saw Lingyue heading towards their bedroom and hugged him tightly, "Brother Xiaoyue, let’s sleep with mom tonight."

Lingyue glanced at Ye Xingbei, feeling a bit hesitant.

Ye Xingbei chuckled, "Yes, I’ll sleep with both of you tonight. Go on, take a bath first."

Xiao Shumiao’s injury was only a bruise, no open wound, so bathing was not a problem.

Lingyue was still reluctant, but Xiao Shumiao couldn’t care less and dragged Lingyue into the bathroom.

After bathing, Ye Xingbei took care of the two kids and got them to bed, then leaned against the bedhead and sang to them.

Lingyue lay flat on the bed, both hands placed neatly at his sides, with his eyes closed. Ye Xingbei’s gentle singing lingered in his ears, making his heart race.

At this moment, he felt so happy.

He felt like he truly had a mother now.

He kept calling "mom" in his heart, over and over, until he gradually drifted off to sleep.

After coaxing the two kids to sleep, Ye Xingbei called Gu Junzhu.

Gu Junzhu said Yun Jue had a fever, and he was worried, so he couldn’t come back tonight. He told her to go to sleep without him.

After a few words of advice, she ended the call and lay down with the two kids.

Thinking about Gu Junzhu and Yun Jue, she slept restlessly and woke up early the next morning.

She planned to make some food for Gu Junzhu and Yun Jue and take it to the hospital. Quietly getting out of bed, before she even stepped down, Lingyue opened his eyes.

Lingyue sat up and looked at her.

She put her index finger to her lips in a "shh" gesture and pointed at Xiao Shumiao.

Lingyue nodded at her and lay back down, watching Xiao Shumiao attentively.

Ye Xingbei chuckled, quietly got dressed, and went downstairs.

She entered the kitchen, not having decided what to make yet, when she heard a sound outside. She went to check and found that Gu Junzhu and Yun Jue were back.

She hurried over and asked, "Why are you back now? The hospital isn’t open yet, right?"

It was just after six. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Ah Jue slept fitfully all night. This morning he woke up and said the hospital smell made him nauseous, and he felt uncomfortable all over, insisting on coming back," Gu Junzhu said. "I had a doctor check him. The doctor said it’s nothing serious, just needs to rest at home, so I brought him back."

"Yes, Auntie," Yun Jue said with a bitter face. "The moment I opened my eyes, all I could smell was disinfectant. It’s much better here with the scent of flowers everywhere. Staying at the hospital is worse than being injured."

Ye Xingbei chuckled, "As long as the doctor says you can come back, it’s fine... Are you hungry? What do you want to eat? I’ll make it for you."

"It’s okay to let the kitchen handle it," Gu Junzhu said, asking her, "Where are Xiao Shumiao and Xiao Yue?"

"They’re not up yet," Ye Xingbei said. "I’ll have the kitchen make some nourishing food for you. Rest for a while, and I’ll have them do it quickly."

She was just about to go into the kitchen to ask them to make something good for the two when the doorbell rang.

She looked at the monitor.

It was Muu Qingwan.

Ye Xingbei went to greet her and let Muu Qingwan inside.

Muu Qingwan carried a food box in her left hand and a thermos in her right, walking to the coffee table and opening them up.

Inside the food box were a few small dishes, and the thermos held red date and goji berry porridge.

Muu Qingwan said sheepishly, "I didn’t know how to repay Ah Jue, so I specially made this for you. If you think my cooking is okay, I can cook for you every day."

Before eating, Ye Xingbei could already smell the fragrant aroma of the dishes.

Even though she hadn’t tasted it yet, judging by the presentation and the alluring fragrance, she felt Muu Qingwan’s cooking skill must be at a professional chef level.

Surprised, she asked, "Did you make all of this by yourself?"

"Yes," Muu Qingwan nodded shyly, "I didn’t know how else to thank you, so I could only do something small within my ability..."

Looking at the beautiful dishes in the food box, Ye Xingbei felt an inexplicable twinge in her knee.

She had been learning cooking from Guu Bohe for a while now and hadn’t managed to make such "simple tasks" as Muu Qingwan did.

Truly embarrassed.
