Chapter 1979: Chapter 1983: Be Good

Ye Xingbei was dazed for a moment before remembering what had happened: "That child..."

"He’s Jiang Zhengxing’s son," Gu Junzhu said. "Xiao Yue cut off one of his hands; it couldn’t be reattached, but he’s not in any life-threatening danger. The surgery is over and he’s been sent to the intensive care unit."

"So it’s Jiang Zhengxing’s son," Ye Xingbei murmured. "That explains it..."

"Yeah," Gu Junzhu said. "Like father, like son."

Ye Xingbei chuckled and looked down at herself.

She was covered with a sheet, unable to see anything: "Am I okay?"

"You’re fine," Gu Junzhu said in a relaxed tone: "No vital organs were injured, and the injuries are not severe. The doctor said you’ll recover completely in a few days of rest."

"Just escaped death," Ye Xingbei breathed a sigh of relief. "It’s a good thing that child was young, otherwise I might have died."

"That’s not it," Gu Junzhu said. "It’s just your bad luck to encounter such a vicious child at such a young age. If he were a bit older, Xueno would have been on alert. But because he was so young, Xueno overlooked him, allowing him to get close enough to stab you."

"That’s true," Ye Xingbei tilted her head to look at him, slightly nervous: "You didn’t do anything to Xueno, did you?"

"Of course not," Gu Junzhu said. "We’ve long agreed that I’d take care of my people, and you’d handle yours."

"Yeah," Ye Xingbei said. "It’s not Xueno’s fault; I was too careless."

Gu Junzhu shrugged: "I knew you would say that; I won’t do anything to upset you."

Ye Xingbei couldn’t help but smile, "You’re the best."

Gu Junzhu also smiled, "Able to smile, so it seems the injuries aren’t severe."

Ye Xingbei moved her limbs slightly: "Indeed, not serious, just that the wound aches a bit."

"It’ll hurt more after the anesthesia wears off," Gu Junzhu said. "If it’s unbearable, let me know, and I’ll have them give you a painkiller injection."

"Hmm..." Ye Xingbei was about to say more when the doctor walked in with a nurse.

The doctor examined Ye Xingbei and said to both of them, "The surgery was very successful. The wound is small, and with proper rest, you’ll recover soon."

Both thanked the doctor, who then gave some instructions before leaving with the nurse.

Xiao Shumiao was afraid of pressing on Ye Xingbei’s wound, so he didn’t dare lean into her arms; he could only hold onto her hand: "Mom, you nearly scared me to death."

Seeing him being so serious like a little adult, with his usually wide and bright eyes now red and puffy from crying, Ye Xingbei’s heart was filled with tenderness.

She gently smiled and touched his cheek: "Didn’t you hear what the doctor said? The doctor said Mom is fine and will be fully recovered in a few days."

"Mm," Xiao Shumiao nodded, "But I’m still scared..."

His eyes were tightly fixed on Ye Xingbei, as if he was afraid she’d suddenly vanish into thin air.

Ye Xingbei felt both sour and sweet in her heart, an indescribable feeling.

This is her son...

Her biological son...

She glanced at Gu Junzhu and gently squeezed Xiao Shumiao’s little hand: "Xiao Shu, go outside with Brother Xiaoyue for a while. Mom has something to talk about with Dad."

Xiao Shumiao showed reluctance: "Mom, I don’t want to go. I want to stay with you."

"Be good, just for a moment..." Ye Xingbei ruffled his little head and looked towards Lingyue. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Lingyue came forward, took Xiao Shumiao’s hand, and coaxed him to leave.
