Chapter 14 - Dilemma

Lily's eyes widened.

"Ava..." she started.

Ava rolled her eyes dramatically. "Yeah, yeah, I know. The Alpha is going to break me. He's ruthless in bed. He takes what he wants, blah blah blah." She waved a dismissive hand. "Spare me the warnings. I still want to please him."

Lily gave her a long look, her arms crossed over her chest. Ava met her gaze, her jaw set with determination.

She wanted him.

Not because she loved him. Not because she thought there was some fairytale ending waiting for her. But because him falling for her was vital to her gaining her own power..

Lily sighed like a woman carrying the weight of a thousand Ava-induced headaches. "Fine."

Ava straightened immediately, the excitement barely contained in her posture. She looked like a student who had just gotten a free pass to cheat on a final exam.

Lily folded her arms tighter. "The Alpha," she began in a knowing tone, "tells you exactly what to do. He doesn't play guessing games. He will guide you. He will take you where he wants to go."

Ava swallowed hard, her body heating up entirely too fast. Her mind betrayed her, flashing back to last night; to Kade, the way he made her toes curl.

"But the real work," Lily continued, "is when he enters you."

Ava's breath caught in her throat.

"He shows no mercy," Lily murmured. "And he won't stop until he is finished."

Ava clenched her thighs together. This was a terrible idea. Why was she suddenly feeling like she'd signed up for a very personal game of Russian roulette?

Of course, she expected this—Alpha Raventhorn was a beast in and out of the bedroom. That much was common knowledge. But her problem wasn't just the act itself.

She wanted more.

She wanted to control him.

"I know that," Ava admitted. "But... how do I make him want me? I mean really want me? Not just for a night."

Lily smirked knowingly. "You want romance. You want him to touch you before he takes you. You want him to seduce you."

"YES!" Ava blurted.

Finally, someone understood. She didn't want to just be a body to him. She wanted him to crave her, to fall apart under her touch. Much like Kade—the way he devoured her, yet somehow, she held all the power. That was what she wanted from Lucas.

Lily sighed. "I'm sorry, Ava. I don't have those answers."

Ava's stomach twisted in disappointment.

Lily leaned in. "If you really want to do this, without a wolf to guide you, without experience, you're going to have to wing it."

Ava swallowed.

"But," Lily added "one thing I do know. The Alpha hates weakness."

Ava nodded sharply. "Right."

She could do this.

Easy peasy.

...Right?

*****

Lily had barely stepped out of Ava's room when Sarah appeared in the hallway, eyes gleaming with suspicion.

"I knew you would crack," Sarah sneered.

Lily let out the deepest sigh. Here we go. "What would you have me do? Piss her off even further? Do you want her to run to the Alpha with a full report?"

Sarah scoffed. "Please. You act like she matters. This is just a phase. When I first arrived, he was all over me too."

Lily stilled. "Was he?" There was a pause. A long, heavy pause filled with disbelief and judgment.

Sarah's face darkened. "Whatever." She waved a hand like she could erase the conversation. "What is she up to?"

"What do you mean?" Lily played dumb.

Sarah's eyes narrowed. "You were in there for a long time. What were you talking about?"

Lily shrugged. "Nothing major. She just... wants to see the Alpha tonight."

Sarah stiffened.

A flash of panic crossed her face before she snapped it into anger.

"You're so dumb," she hissed. "If she sees him tonight, she'll tell him about the devil beans."

Lily's stomach twisted. "That has nothing to do with me."

Sarah grabbed Lily's wrist. "If I'm going down, you're coming down with me. Do you hear me?"

Lily wrenched her arm away. "Oh, get the hell out of my face." With a forceful shove, she sent Sarah stumbling back.

Sarah seethed, her mind racing.

Ava was going to ruin everything.

If she went to the Alpha, there would be no escape. No talking her way out of it.

Her heartbeat pounded like war drums in her chest.

No.

She couldn't let that happen.

Without thinking, she spun on her heel and rushed down the corridor, her feet slapping against the polished floors as she made a beeline for the Alpha's office.

She had to get to him first.

Sarah stood outside the Alpha's office, pulse hammering in her throat. This was a gamble. A desperate move. But she had no other choice.

If Ava saw him tonight, she would be in trouble.

Taking a deep breath, she knocked.

"Enter."

She stepped inside.

Alpha Lucas sat sprawled across the leather sofa, looking... tense. His dark brows furrowed. Jaw clenched. Fingers tapping restlessly against the armrest.

"What?" he growled.

Sarah hesitated for half a second before stepping forward, pasting on her most seductive smile.

"Alpha," she purred, "I would like to visit you tonight. To please you."

Lucas barely reacted.

His gaze drifted past her, lost in thought. He wasn't here. He was somewhere else. Thinking about someone else.

His instincts screamed at him to go to Ava.

His wolf wanted her.

His fingers curled into a fist.

She was a mere concubine. A nobody. Traded to him.

She shouldn't have this power over him.

And yet, every time he closed his eyes, he saw her.

Her defiant stare.

Her sharp tongue.

The way she dared to challenge him.

He despised it.

He craved it.

"Alpha?"

Sarah's voice yanked him back. He blinked, realizing he had completely forgotten she was standing there.

"What?!"

Sarah shifted on her feet but forced a playful smirk. "I would like to come over tonight..."

Lucas exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair.

"Yeah... yeah... fine. Eight o'clock," he muttered distractedly, flicking his fingers toward the door.

Sarah smirked.

Ava, let's see you go blab to the Alpha now.

She walked out, closing the door behind her.

Lucas let out a low, frustrated growl.

Tonight better be enough to keep Ava out of his head.
