Chapter 797 -474: Endless Sin Aro

After everyone had dispersed, the innkeeper respectfully handed over the Ancient Stone to Snow Wood, and despite being offered one hundred thousand Top-Grade Spirit Stones, he refused to accept them.

With a faint smile, Snow Wood still left the Spirit Stones: “I came to buy, not to rob, naturally I should pay with Spirit Stones, you don’t need to be too afraid.”

Afterward, Snow Wood left the inn with a few people. Logan had watched the whole drama unfold, and seeing that there were few people left in the inn, he walked in.

Still shaken, the innkeeper hastily said to Logan, “I’m planning to close for half a month; please, find accommodations elsewhere, my apologies.”

Fearful of experiencing today’s events again and not being able to ensure his safety, he had decided to reopen only after the martial competition was over and everyone had left Heavenly Moon City. Despite the high income from the increased business these past couple of days, when compared with one’s life, what were a few more Top-Grade Spirit Stones worth?

“Your establishment is the largest; you can’t just shut down because of a minor incident, can you? If word of this gets out, what will outsiders think? They’ll definitely believe you closed due to a threat, affecting the reputation of the City Lord and people like Snow Wood. In turn, you’ll unwittingly offend them.”

Logan said with an amused smile, looking at the innkeeper: “So, why not just keep your doors open and carry on with business? News of today’s incident will quickly spread across the entire city, and people will come to your shop to join in on the excitement. If they happen to buy something, your turnover might even increase by hundreds of times.”

Reminded by Logan, the innkeeper thought about it and realized it was true. He quickly bowed respectfully, realizing that if it weren’t for Logan, there could have been severe consequences to closing.

Currently, Logan had five million Top-Grade Spirit Stones on him, and what he most wanted to buy were life-saving measures, as being only at the Saint Seat Second Level meant his strength was at the lower end in Heavenly Moon City.

However, when it came to weapons, he already possessed an Emperor Weapon, which made the divine weapons and other such items in this shop unappealing to him.

But after looking around, he didn’t spot anything worthwhile. As for medicinal ingredients and Elixirs, Logan had no use for them, and thus he decided to leave.

Yet just as he set one foot outside the door, curiosity led him to ask, “What exactly is that piece of Ancient Stone Snow Wood bought, to cause such a big commotion?”

“It’s just a stone that has been handed down for tens of thousands of years. It could be an ordinary stone or might contain some techniques; everything is uncertain. However, because it comes from ancient times, the time alone has greatly increased its value, so one hundred thousand Top-Grade Spirit Stones was quite fair.”

The innkeeper paused, then continued to explain: “A typical Ancient Stone often sells for over five million Top-Grade Spirit Stones. Why did my shop sell this one for only one hundred thousand? Because countless Powerhouses have examined it with nothing to show for it; it’s probably just a worthless rock.”

“So that’s how it is,” Logan nodded, then asked further, “Do you have any more Ancient Stones in the shop? I’m interested in buying one, price is no issue.”

“Ancient Stones are extremely rare and hard to come by; the one in my shop was the only one I had. However, if you go to the affluent Outer Domain Central Capital, you’ll certainly find more.”

The innkeeper gave a wry smile. If his shop had more Ancient Stones, there would have been no conflict before. Even if he’d taken a loss of a few million Top-Grade Spirit Stones, he would have willingly offered one to the Wexler Clan’s Young Master, as he truly didn’t want to stir up trouble. Regrettably, that wasn’t the case.

Logan nodded, and then left the shop. Later, with nothing better to do, he could only head back to the City State Mansion.

However, he suddenly noticed a group of Wexler Clan experts heading towards the city gates, which puzzled him. After the recent dispute, what could they be planning?

Could it be? Logan suddenly had an unsettling suspicion. Even though the City Lord had intervened before and the Wexler Clan had backed down, they had done so unwillingly.

Now gathering a group of experts, were they planning to make a move on Snow Wood? Despite Snow Wood being from a Great Sect, she hadn’t brought many experts with her to the martial competition. She wouldn’t be able to contend with the Wexler Clan, and as long as the clan kept their actions secret, the aftermath would fall onto the City Lord instead of Snow Wood’s Sect.

Of course, Logan could be overthinking it. The Wexler Clan’s experts might have other matters to attend to. But no matter how he rationalized it, nothing seemed to add up. As a mere Saint Seat Second Level cultivator, involving himself in this conflict likely meant he wouldn’t escape unscathed.

Even if he wanted to save Snow Wood, he needed the capability first, didn’t he? So Logan decided to pretend he hadn’t seen anything. But just as he walked a hundred or so steps forward, he caught sight of the Wexler Clan’s Family Head, who vanished in a flash from the street using Space Law, indicating the destination was not nearby.

At this point, Logan was even more certain the Wexler Clan was up to something significant, most likely targeting Snow Wood. Torn over whether or not to save her, Logan was extremely conflicted.

“Forget it, I must help Snow Wood. I owe her a Favor for my successful arrival in Heavenly Moon City and it’s only right to repay that,” he mused.

Logan turned toward the city gates with determination in his face: “I always repay my debts. I can’t become a coward just because I’m facing a group of formidable experts in the Outer Domain. If I’m to forge a name for myself here, I can’t show fear.”

After leaving Heavenly Moon City, Logan again fell deep into thought. Although he decided to save someone, he must carefully consider his actions; he didn’t want to needlessly sacrifice his life.
