Delayed Regrets: He Regretted Only After Her Death-Chapter 175: Will He Die?
Tiana Linden’s unimplemented plan was discovered by Aiden Grant.
Her chest felt heavy and congested.
This man, true to his word, wouldn’t give her any chance to leave the island.
She thought she couldn’t go shopping today, but Aiden looked at her and said, "Weren’t you going to relax? Let’s go to the street and see if there’s anything you’re interested in."
"Weren’t you going to imprison me? Why are you pretending to take me shopping? You knew I would try to contact Hector Chaucer, so why bring me out at all?"
"Tiana, I never intended to imprison you."
She wasn’t the caged canary for him.
Seeing her miserable and constantly nauseated from the pregnancy, he wanted to take her out for some fresh air.
He also wished her happiness.
Hoped to see her and Daisy’s smiles.
He just couldn’t understand why those smiles and happiness couldn’t include him.
The note used to contact Hector was still the same, and he tore it up after just one glance, throwing it on the ground.
"No one on this street can read Chinese, you’re wasting your efforts."
"Our family of three has never gone shopping together, so let’s take Daisy for a tour today. You could use the break too."
Tiana held Daisy’s hand, glaring at him, "If you really want me to have a good break, then let me and Daisy shop alone. Don’t follow us."
Aiden was silent for a few seconds.
He looked at Daisy, then at her, "Okay, I can refrain from following you, but the bodyguard and translator have to accompany you."
Today he just wanted to take her out for a change of scene, not to truly strip her of her freedom.
She hated being with him, so he wisely decided not to follow the mother and son.
Tiana knew the bodyguard and translator had to follow them; no matter how much she refused, Aiden wouldn’t withdraw them, so she accepted it and took Daisy out of the kindergarten.
The two bodyguards followed at an appropriate distance.
A young local female translator accompanied the mother and daughter.
The street sides were piled high with snow.
There were workers specifically clearing the snow in the middle of the road.
It was the first time Tiana and her daughter wandered aimlessly in such a cold, snowy landscape.
They visited the malls, went to the nearby food street.
Bought things and tried some snacks that were unseen back home.
Tiana finally had some appetite, savoring several kinds of street food specialties.
However, after just eating, her stomach felt unwell, and she squatted by the street to vomit again.
On this entire tour, she didn’t see a single person with yellow skin on the street.
The yellow-skinned, black-framed glasses doctor who had been to the castle was the only yellow-skinned person she knew who could speak Chinese. She had managed to give him the note, only for Aiden to discover it.
After vomiting to the point of dizziness, Tiana’s mood suddenly plummeted.
How wonderful it would be if Hector could be by her side at this moment!
But she had no way of contacting him.
"Mommy, are you crying?" Daisy patted her back and hugged her tenderly.
She wiped her mouth and hugged Daisy too, "Daisy, I’m sorry, Mommy still can’t get you back to Daddy."
They might be trapped on this island indefinitely.
With the current situation, there was no assistance for the mother and daughter.
The only ones wanting to help her, Uncle Carter and Mrs. Walsh, were watched closely by Aiden’s people every day. The elderly couple never left the castle either.
It seemed they really might spend a lifetime in this dreadful place.
Tiana felt utterly dejected for the first time.
Daisy’s small hand wiped her tears, "Mommy, don’t cry!"
Tiana hugged Daisy close, "Daisy, I miss Daddy so much."
"I miss Daddy too." Daisy nestled on her mother’s shoulder, patting her back.
At that moment, a dark handkerchief was offered to Tiana, wiping away her tears.
It was Aiden.
He had been in the car, following the mother and daughter.
Seeing her vomit here until dizzy, and then starting to cry, Aiden couldn’t help but feel heartache.
Unable to resist, he got out of the car.
He simply couldn’t understand why Tiana couldn’t forgive him.
He never betrayed her!
The waters of the world will meet again; the Arctic Ocean and the Nile will merge again in wet clouds.
But why couldn’t they return to the past and blend seamlessly once more?
The handkerchief used to wipe Tiana’s tears was snatched by her and thrown to the ground.
As she stood up, she stomped hard on the handkerchief, glaring at Aiden.
"I don’t want to return to the castle today. Can you let Daisy and I be alone for a while?"
Her tone was filled with strong discontent and anger towards him.
There was even a sense of emotional breakdown.
How could she leave this cursed place and return to Hector’s side?
Seeing her so dissatisfied, Aiden took a deep breath, "It’s getting late, let’s talk about it after returning. The security here isn’t like back home."
Tiana retorted, "You know the security here is terrible, but you still brought Daisy and me here? Are you out of your mind?"
Aiden insisted, "If you want to continue shopping, I will accompany you."
As he spoke, he took Daisy’s hand, accompanying the mother and daughter to continue shopping.
Suddenly.
The sound of a motorcycle engine roared from behind.
Before Tiana could react, a young man with a yellow mohawk sitting on the motorcycle’s back snatched the bag draped over her shoulder, and another young man with dreadlocks swung a knife at her, forcing her to let go.
The bag contained Tiana’s passport and identification.
Originally, she wanted to see if she could take Daisy and escape during today’s outing.
But Aiden gave her no chance.
She held onto the bag being snatched without letting go, and the glinting knife came down at her.
"Watch out!"
In that split second, a tall, imposing figure of a man sidestepped to entirely shield her.
The knife, shining coldly, slashed directly onto Aiden’s back.
The black coat ripped open immediately.
Blood seeped out!
The bodyguards, a dozen meters away, quickly caught up. The local hooligan on the motorcycle took the stolen bag and fled swiftly.
Jesse hastily picked up the frightened Daisy.
Tiana looked at Aiden’s slashed back, seeing the clothes torn apart, the skin gaping, and blood everywhere.
She suddenly remembered James Linden’s fiftieth birthday.
She had gone to Klayburg in advance, planning to learn the ancient art of kiln-making to personally craft a set of blue and white porcelain tea sets for James Linden.
Because James Linden loved blue and white porcelain most.
In the small town, a stray evil dog rushed out, lunging at her aggressively.
Aiden, just like now, bravely shielded her and was bitten by the dog until a large chunk of his flesh was lost.
Aiden had many stitches at that time.
If it were her from that year, seeing Aiden now bleeding from the back, she would have cried anxiously.
But now, Tiana didn’t cry.
A heart is made of flesh; although she didn’t want him to die this way, she wasn’t as worried and frightened as that year.
She just glared at him, using a fierce tone to scold, "Aiden, are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Urgent, fierce, then supporting him, "Quickly get in the car, Jesse, take him to the hospital."
Aiden Grant’s tall and lean body seemed rooted to the spot, not moving an inch.
He grabbed Tiana Linden’s wrist, "Tiana, if I die, would you shed tears for me?"
Tiana did not answer: "..."
She never considered this question.
Besides, he just got stabbed, it shouldn’t be life-threatening, right?
She was also a flesh and blood person, unwilling to see Aiden Grant suffer such misfortune, yet her attitude remained fierce, "You imprisoned us mother and daughter on this island, if you’re going to die, wait until you’ve sent us back to the country, I won’t shed a single tear for you. Don’t think that..."
The man’s solid body suddenly fell heavily and silently, like a severed branch, into Tiana’s embrace.
Tiana couldn’t possibly support his tall 1.8-meter frame.
She held Aiden tightly, just barely preventing him from collapsing to the ground.
Jesse beside her put Daisy down to help support Aiden, and only then did she let go.
Beside her, Daisy looked at her palm, eyes full of panic, "Mom, your hand is covered in blood!"
Only then did Tiana realize that when she held Aiden tightly to keep him from falling, her hand was drenched in the blood streaming from his back.
Didn’t Aiden just take one stab? How is there so much blood?
The blood staining her palm made her subtly tremble, "Jesse, quickly take him to the hospital."
...
Hospital.
The surgery has been going on for over three hours.
Tiana and Daisy waited outside the operating room, with dedicated bodyguards stationed by their side.
It was late.
Daisy nestled in her mother’s embrace, her eyelids heavy, yet sleep eluded her, "Mom, will that person die?"
Tiana looked down at her daughter in her arms.
In her daughter’s tear-filled, reddened eyes, faint traces of tears shimmered.
She had never called Aiden Grant dad even once, yet this irrevocable blood relation was unbreakable.
Aiden Grant was Daisy’s biological father.
Daisy hated Aiden, but surely she didn’t want him to die like this.
Tiana asked, "You don’t want him to die like this, right?"
"..." Daisy hesitated for a moment, not directly answering her.
Then, tears flowed from her pained eyes, "I hate him, but I’ve never wished for his death."
That was her biological father.
No matter what, his blood ran through her veins.
The bond of blood couldn’t be severed.
Tiana wiped her daughter’s tears with her sleeve, "They say good people don’t live long, but bad ones live a thousand years. That person is so bad, he surely won’t die so easily."
Daisy sniffed, "He really is a plague, but I don’t want him to just die like that."
Tiana held her daughter, said nothing more.
Right now, what her daughter needed most was a hug; from childhood to adulthood, both she and Aiden owed Daisy so much.
The seemingly strong girl had many wounds and voids inside.
Those needed to be filled with the bond of blood relations.
From the moment Aiden was stabbed to these three to four hours with the surgery room doors tightly shut, her mind was in chaos.
Admittedly, she hated Aiden, so much that she wished she had never known him.
But she never wished for his death either.
Jesse said beside her, "Ma’am, I’ll take you and Miss Daisy back to rest, we don’t know when Mr. Grant will be finished here."
Tiana looked at Jesse standing respectfully next to her, "Do you know how Aiden is doing?"
Jesse was silent for a few seconds, "...Not very well!"
Tiana: "What’s the situation?"
Jesse: "Penetrating lung injury, blood accumulation in the chest cavity."
Tiana, too, was educated in medicine.
Penetrating lung injury and blood accumulation in the chest cavity, the danger level could be mild or severe.
If there’s massive accumulation of blood, it may lead to a drop in blood pressure, increased heart rate, blurred consciousness, possibly life-threatening within hours.
Aiden had lost so much blood in the car on the way to the hospital.
Tiana subconsciously clenched her fingers.
She hated Aiden, so much that she wished never to have any contact with him again, but now she was praying he wouldn’t be in mortal danger.
Then Jesse said to her, "Ma’am, before Mr. Grant entered the operating room and was anesthetized, he instructed me: If he can’t come out alive from the operating table, to take you back to the country, to Mr. Chaucer’s side."
"..." Tiana’s heart grew more chaotic.
Much of her past with Aiden, from childhood to now, like frames of a movie, flashed through her mind.
There was genuine emotion between them once.
She did not want anything to happen to Aiden.
Jesse continued, "Ma’am, I’ll take you back."
Tiana’s mind was muddled, like a congealed mess, "I’ll wait here for his surgery to end."
Jesse insisted, "Mr. Grant also said, given you’re pregnant, I must first take you back to the castle, for good rest."
Jesse pressed firmly to take Tiana back, given Daisy was by her side, Tiana had no choice but to return to the castle.
This night felt infinitely longer than each of the sixty-plus nights since they’d arrived on the island.
A little after six in the morning, Tiana woke up.
She immediately called Jesse, "Jesse, how is Aiden?"
That end paused for several seconds, "Not very good, Ma’am, I’ll talk to you when I return."
The call ended.
Tiana’s heart hung in suspense.
During breakfast, Uncle Carter and Mrs. Walsh heard about Aiden’s surgery in the hospital and were worried too.
Mrs. Walsh poured milk for Tiana and Daisy, anxiously asking, "Tiana, Carter hasn’t answered my calls, do you know Aiden’s condition?"
Tiana hadn’t slept well the night before.
Her face looked haggard, sighing heavily, yet unsure how to answer Mrs. Walsh appropriately.
Next to her, Daisy raised her head, asking her, "Mom, will that person really die?"
"..." The unanswerable question made Tiana’s heart anxious, she handed Daisy a slice of pomelo cake.
Uncle Carter, seeing that cake, suddenly choked up a bit, "Yesterday Mr. Grant specifically instructed me that Daisy likes eating pomelo-flavored cake, that I should ensure the kitchen uses Shatian pomelos shipped from home. Mr. Grant always remembers that little Daisy likes eating pomelo, likes cheese-baked snails, doesn’t eat cilantro or scallion, is allergic to peanuts..."
Indeed, Daisy liked eating pomelo-flavored cake.
She loved anything related to pomelo.
But since coming to this island, Daisy hadn’t taken a bite.
Because she knew, that pomelo-flavored cake was personally made by that person.
She hated that person.
Anything made by him, she did not wish to eat.
But every little thing over these days, Daisy noticed, that person sincerely wanted to make amends, genuinely hoped to be a good father.
For the first time, Daisy scooped a spoonful of that pomelo-flavored cake.
The taste was clearly sweet, yet somewhat bitter.
While eating, Daisy shed tears, surely the pomelo had gone bad, it was bitter, it had to be.
Daisy did not want to admit that she was crying for that person.
At this moment, Jesse returned from outside, bearing the scent of wind and snow, looking heavily at Tiana at the dining table.
Tiana immediately put down her cutlery, rose to ask, "Jack, how is Aiden?"
Jesse did not answer immediately, but his heavy expression clearly showed the situation wasn’t good.
