Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 230: Rich People And Shady Coverups
Chapter 230: Rich People And Shady Coverups
Gilbert woke up some minutes before the driver pulled over at his stop. As he hurried out of the car he said to the driver, "Don’t wait for me." Then dashed forward, running through muddy puddles.
His actual destination was a bit farther down, but he did not want to take his chances with the driver mouthing off to the maids about his whereabouts.
It took him about fifteen minutes of sprinting to reach his destination, a small clinic. He took out his phone and placed a call through, "I’m already outside! Where the hell are you?!" He demanded, walking past the security, who didn’t care enough to abandon their lunch.
"Tch." He hissed, "Why the hell do I have to come in?" He frowned.
Taking one glance at the somewhat dilapidated building, he was astonished the place was still up and running. Had he not come here to meet with a certain person, he might’ve never found this place.
Stepping inside, the lobby was surprisingly full, with lower class to nearly dirt poor people waiting at the lobby.
He made for the reception, but the receptionist was no where to be seen. He could feel everyone’s stares pointed at him, as he impatiently waited at the desk.
A patient whispered loudly to another, "What is someone who looks like that doing in a place like this?"
The older looking woman, no younger than forty snorted, "It’s something shady I bet."
"Shady?" The younger one, with tired eyes and tanned skin asked.
The older and more weary woman replied, "These rich men come here to have their biddings done. From bringing in their mistresses for abortions to covering their tracks, they come here where no one can see them. I heard some handsome rich man showed up..."
Gilbert drowned out their voices and reached for his phone once more to place a call to the person he had come to see. Thankfully, they came to the lobby to see him. His arrival made the gossipers keep quiet.
The man in a lab coat frowned when he saw Gilbert, "We weren’t supposed to meet for another week. I told you not to come here if it wasn’t important-"
Gilbert cut him off, "Let’s speak in your office."
The man sighed, "I told you to-"
"Now!" Gilbert ordered sternly.
The doctor dropped his shoulder, and turned around, "Come with me." he said leading the way.
As they walked away, both women who were in a conversation exchanged swift glances with each other.
Once they were out of sight the older one leaned in and whispered, "My hunch was right, that was the head doctor, all the rich people with dirty deeds go to him."
The younger one gasped, "So that man really came here for that?"
"Naturally. He must have some nasty-"
"Excuse me ladies, but could I trouble you with a question?" A rich baritone voice sounded, luring both women’s attention to the man standing in front of them...
"What the hell?! Do you want me to get caught?!" Gilbert raged the moment he stepped into the doctor’s office.
His office was the only well renovated room in the entire hospital, with expensive furniture and a sleek design.
The doctor reached for his wine cabinet and pulled out a bottle and two glasses, "Calm down and explain yourself-"
"The damned drug you gave me! You said it wouldn’t kill young master Grayson! What do we do if it does?! I’ll be found out! Call the boss! We need an antidote immediately!" He demanded.
"You’re getting ahead of yourself. The drug I gave you wouldn’t kill him, I can assure you that if the young master is unwell, it’s because of someone else."
But Gilbert was unconvinced, "Give me the drug, I’ll take it to the doctors back at the mansion, they might be able to make an antidote-"
"No, I’m afraid I can’t do that." The doctor said pouring himself a glass of wine.
"What?! Why?!"
His tone lighthearted the doctor said, "From what the boss said, the young master has a doctor who has studied the drug, though not it’s perfected version. It’s too risky, especially since we’ve made the drug nearly untraceable."
Gilbert hissed, "So we let the young master die?"
The doctor took a sip, "Perhaps." A sly grin painted on his face.
Gilbert charged at him and grabbed him tightly by the collar! "You damned prick! Who do you think will take the blame?! Call the boss! Or else-"
His demeanor composed, the doctor asked, "Weren’t you supposed to have found a scapegoat for cases like these? Don’t blame us if you’re useless-" Gilbert cut him off by slapping the bottle of wine off the table, shattering it.
"Give me the drug, or I’ll slit your damned throat, right here and now you bastard!" He tightened his grip, lifting the doctor’s toes off the ground.
Panic spread around the man’s face, "C-Calm down! I already told you, that drug can’t kill him. It wasn’t perfected before, that’s why it affected him so much back at the Grayson Manor." He struggled to say.
"Then why is he on his deathbed as we speak?!" he demanded .
"I don’t know, it could’ve been someone else-"
"Hand me the damned drug! I don’t have time for this!" Gilbert ordered, his hands now on the doctor’s neck, choking the life out of him.
His eyes choked with tears, the doctor spoke in-between coughs, "W-Wait...p-please...I...can’t..."
Realizing he was hurting him, he released him, letting the doctor drop to the ground with a loud thud. Frustrated, Gilbert began frantically searching the office, "Where the hell is it?!"
Gasping for air the doctor weakly pointed at the cabinet below his wine. Gilbert hastily opened it and saw a small silver box with a fingerprint sensor on it’s surface. He took it to the doctor and placed his thumb on it, unlocking the box.
Inside laid two syringes, and a small glass bottle with white pills inside. Gilbert swiftly took out it’s contents, ignoring the doctors slight whimpers for help.
He made for the door and hastily opened it, only to be met with someone who had been waiting outside the entire time.
"Y-You... h-how..." Gilbert widened his eyes and took some steps back, the drugs falling out of his hands.
"What’s wrong?" He asked stepping into the room.
"I thought you’d be much happier to see me." Thane said to him, an all knowing look seeded in his gaze.
