Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 240: The Woman He Loved Covered In Sweat And Tears
Chapter 240: The Woman He Loved Covered In Sweat And Tears
On her way back to her bedroom, Mallory caught sight of Matthew heading outside. She decided to follow him outside and ask him about why he left the dinner table so abruptly, and maybe fish for some information on his aunt.
But, her plans fell to the wind when Matthew answered a phone call. "Han, is that you?!" He cried out, his voice filled with joy and desperation.
Mallory blinked twice, Matthew had never sounded so passionate before, she had pegged him for the nonchalant type, but it seemed like she was gravely mistaken.
His voice, a soft plea, he begged, "Please, don’t hang up! I’ve called and texted and even given you space. Please...don’t push me away anymore, I can’t bear it."
Once again, Mallory was shocked, who was this woman that could make an arrogant man like Matthew beg in such a way.
She tried to listen in further, but Matthew walked further way to have the rest of the call...
At the Grayson house, Hannah’s nervousness grew when Matthew began pleading with her over the phone. The more he spoke, the more afraid she became, why did he have to answer? Why was he still so stuck on having her back? Would Thane interprete this as her still working with him?
"Han?! Han, please say something! I’ve been worried sick about you-"
"How interesting." Thane’s voice interrupted, silencing Matthew’s pleading.
"Who is that?!" He demanded in an angry voice.
Thane looked to Hannah, who was sweating buckets, then averted his gaze to the phone. "I didn’t think my arrogant younger brother could be brought to his knees this easily." He pointed out.
Realization came at Matthew like a speeding truck!
His anger quelled, "T-Thane? W-What are you doing with her phone-"
"You seem surprised, have you forgotten just who it is Hannah works for? It shouldn’t seem odd that I’m with her now should it?" His imploring tone was sinister, Hannah found herself holding her breath whenever he spoke.
Matthew switched his tactic, "What is this? Why did you have her call me?! What do you want?"
Thane got up from his seat, taking slow steps he marched over to Hannah, crouched down to her level and held her by the chin. He picked up the phone in the other hand and turned it to a video call, the camera mirroered at Hannah’s fearful face.
"Thane you bastard! What are you doing to her?!" Matthew raged loudly.
Thane laughed over his brother’s shouts, "I’m only disciplining my maid, what does that have to do with you?"
Matthew hissed, "Thane I swear that if you lay a single hand on her I’ll-"
"You’ll do what?" His brother laughed, his tone, taunting, "Can you do anything? Or are you just all bark? I dare you," he raised her chin higher, "Do something! Come on!"
Hannah’s heart raced, she tried to say a word, but the words swelled at her throat, unable to crawl out. Her eyes watered, the situation had spiraled out of control, and now only Mrs Grayson could intervene.
After a brief half minute of silence, Matthew dropped his angry tone, "Please brother, don’t harm her, I beg you." his voice cracked, "I’ll do anything you tell me to." He begged.
Thane scoffed, "Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you try to choke my wife sometime back?"
Matthew was dumbfounded, "Y-Yes, but that is the past, you forgave me back then..."
"Forgave you? It seems I really have been too lenient. Everyone seems to take me so lightly, first my assistant betrays me, then my maid and my idiot brother thinks he’s in the clear." Thane got up, turning the camera away from Hannah’s face.
"Thane! Please I’m sorry! Just let her go! Don’t harm her-" Matthew begged, fully crying into the phone, but Thane ignored him and reached for his book shelf.
To Hannah he ordered, "Stay that way until my wife comes home."
Hannah nodded, "T-Thank you, master Grayson-"
Thane cut her off by placing some books on her back, "Those books are limited edition, make sure there’s not a single scratch on them." He said, his tone frightening.
Next, he laid the phone against the nearest wall, letting the two of them look at each other to their heart’s content.
"Hannah! Hannah get up! What are you doing?! You’ll hurt yourself!" he cried as Thane added two more books.
But Hannah didn’t move, she stayed in place, her knees and elbows pinned to the ground, her head sticking up. freewёbnoνel-com
Standing at the door, he said before leaving, "Not a word of this to Brooke, am I understood?"
"Hannah! Please! I can’t bear this!" Matthew continued to beg over the phone, Hannah closed her eyes, tears falling onto her cheeks from having Matthew see her like this.
Thane rolled his eyes, "I asked you a question, Hannah."
Her shoulders flinched, causing the books to wobble, "Y-Yes, master Grayson."
Her response was met by a the sound of the door closing after him, silently yet it sent shivers down her spine.
"Hannah! Hannah please! Hannah-"
But Hannah kissed the ground with her forehead, hiding her crying state from Matthew’s gaze. In her heart, a feeling of relief found it’s way.
’Thank heavens for Mrs Grayson!’ she cried, realizing that Thane had stopped at just asking her to kneel.
He hadn’t gone after her grandmother, he hadn’t sent her to a dark prison cell where she would never see the light ever again. Unlike the young master she heard from the rumours, Thane certainly had mellowed down, and she had no one but Brooke to thank for that.
Watching Hannah kneeling on the screen, Matthew felt an uneven mix of anger and helplessness!
As he watched the woman he loved covered in sweat and tears, trembling, he remembered just why their grandfather had taken such a liking to Thane out of all his grandchildren.
And he was brutally reminded of one simple truth he had forgotten.
His brother, when provoked, was even scarier than their grandfather....
