Chapter 111: Chapter 111 Conflict

“Could there be some sort of misunderstanding?”

Henrik chuckled dryly, while internally cursing like mad—he was sure the problem had to be with Roger.

“This brat must have omitted some critical detail from me!”

“I’m going to…”

“…strangle him when I get back.”

Hmm?

Wait, Roger did mention he took something from the scene, but he lost it during the escape.

Could that thing be…

“Dammit!”

Henrik cursed under his breath.

Having figured out the cause and effect, a smile immediately spread across his face.

“Since that’s the case, let’s start by destroying the ritual array.”

Something as complex as a ritual array usually requires very precious materials; once it gets damaged, it takes a great deal of effort to set up again.

The irritation on the Prophet’s face eased slightly, “Give me a day to remove the restraints on the array, or else hasty destruction of the array will harm my soul.”

Henrik narrowed his eyes, “Just don’t try any tricks. This matter has been reported, and you have no other choice.”

“I know!”

The Prophet said icily.

“In that case, we’ll come back tomorrow.”

Henrik knew not to pressure the other party too much, plus the Hunters Guild didn’t wish for the Demon Hunters and the Voodoo Forces to get into any conflicts.

In Bordeaux City, the Voodoo Queen wielded significant influence even though the local powers were not part of the same lineage as the queen’s.

But if a severe conflict broke out, she wouldn’t just stand by and watch.

The tone of the situation was set, and the atmosphere in the room relaxed considerably.

Meanwhile, in the car waiting for Henrik’s return, Roger saw a white pickup truck approaching from a distance.

He hadn’t paid it much attention at first, but as the pickup turned the corner and passed by him, a familiar face reflected in the window.

“Amanda?”

Roger’s face changed drastically.

“What’s she doing here?”

The car had already passed him, and without taking the time to think it through, Roger floored the gas pedal and gave chase.

The pickup truck up ahead paid no heed to Roger following behind. When the car stopped in front of a black building, Betty stepped out from the vehicle first, followed by Amanda, who looked dull-eyed and vacant.

Hiss!

Coming to an abrupt halt, Roger flung the car door open and charged out.

“Amanda, what are you doing here?”

But Amanda ignored his shouts, standing behind Betty and staring blankly at the ground.

“Amanda!”

Roger called out again, taking a few quick steps forward to reach for Amanda’s wrist.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

A burly man stepped in front of Roger, his large body like an iron tower.

“Get out of my way!”

Amanda didn’t look normal; it was a regular school day, and she would never skip school to come to Swamp Town.

Moreover, Roger had explained to her about the dangers of Voodoo Skill, and she had agreed, so it was even less likely for her to seek out Betty under these circumstances.

And with her vacant eyes, a sinking feeling formed in Roger’s heart.

As Roger continued forward, a ruthless glint flashed in the burly man’s eyes, and he threw a palm strike towards Roger’s temple—such a blow would spell disaster for the average person.

Roger’s pace didn’t slow; it was as if he hadn’t even seen the incoming attack from the burly man. Betty, who was standing beside the man, showed no intention of stopping the attack.

As the hit came closer, Roger raised his hand to block, and using the momentum of his charge, he launched a knee strike!

Although he hadn’t practiced hand-to-hand combat in a long time, his physical condition now was several times better than before, and even a simple punch or kick was very powerful.

The burly man’s eyes flashed with a hint of contempt.

Smack!

Arms collided.

A look of pain crossed the burly man’s face, followed quickly by a crazed change in his expression as his arm shot up and his body staggered backwards.

The next second, Roger’s attack, full of rage, slammed into his chest!

Crack!

The crisp sound of breaking bones caused the faces of everyone around to change.

The burly man’s dark face wrinkled into a mass of pain as if struck by a massive hammer; his large frame was lifted and then he was sent flying, crashing into a row of sacrificial vessels.

Roger didn’t even look at the burly man he had sent flying as he reached out to grab Amanda.

But although Amanda clearly stood there, Roger grasped at air, his face slightly changing color as he quickly moved several meters back.

“A psychic attack?”

“Or some kind of witchcraft that interferes with vision?”

Just then, hearing the fighting outside, Henrik and Peter rushed out of the room.

“Roger?”

“What happened?”

“They’ve taken Amanda!”

Roger pointed with his hand.

Henrik followed the direction of Roger’s gesture, but there was nothing there.

He was first taken aback, then he understood.

“Peter!”

Henrik called out loudly.

Peter stretched out his right hand to tap lightly on his forehead, and when he lifted his hand, a low shout echoed across the field!

“Dispel!”

An invisible shockwave swept out, and Betty, standing still, suddenly grunted, and blood began to flow from her nostrils.

Roger turned his head to see the one-armed woman carrying Amanda on her shoulder, running towards the depths of the swamp.

“They’re taking Amanda away!”

Having broken Betty’s witchcraft, Roger burst into action, chasing after the one-armed woman.

Meanwhile, the Prophet appeared at the doorway and plunged a blood-red voodoo doll, legs shaped like daggers, into the back of a tall man’s heart.

“Stop them!”

After speaking, she took the listless Betty and ran in the direction the one-armed woman had left in.

Although the Prophet was blind, it was a mystery how she could navigate her surroundings. She appeared very old, but her stamina seemed to be far greater than that of a normal man.

Even with Betty in tow, her speed was not slow at all.

The black man who had been pierced by the Prophet’s voodoo doll had thick blood vessels surface on his face, and the skin exposed turned a strange red-black color as if the blood inside was surging at incredible speed.

“Heh!”

He let out a roar as his palm, large as a banana leaf, swung towards Roger’s face.

As the one-armed woman was about to get away, Roger pulled out the dagger he carried, and with the cold light flickering on the blade, he slashed open a bloody wound on the black man’s neck!

At the same time, a large group of people suddenly emerged around the house; they appeared to be the people the Prophet had arranged in advance.

Henrik sighed lightly, ” Damn, things are really going to escalate now!”

Muttering to himself, his hands moved extremely fast.

Bang, bang, bang!

His two silver pistols fired continuously, and in an instant, a large number of people around him fell.

Then Henrik raised his gun to aim and targeted the fleeing Prophet in the distance.

Bang!

The bullet fired, but it hit a blue stone far away and then ricocheted off into the distance.

Henrik was slightly stunned, but the next instant, his eyes narrowed, and he fired several shots without seeming to aim at all!
