Demon Hunter and His Cabin-Chapter 61 - 0 - Generous Henrik
Chapter 61: Chapter 061 – Generous Henrik
The room was empty, and despite repeated cleanings, one could still see the mottled bloodstains on the floor.
Squeak~
The wooden door made a slight noise.
Roger carefully walked into the room, his alert gaze sweeping around, but it yielded nothing.
He gently shook his head.
“It’s not here,” he said.
...
Henrik glanced at the time, “It’s still early, we’ll continue to wait.”
Dragging over two rickety chairs from other rooms, Roger and Henrik sat facing each other in the dim room, where only their breathing could be heard.
“Could that thing sense the danger and decide not to come out again?”
Roger broke the silence.
“Evil Spirits basically act on instinct, they don’t possess the cognitive abilities of the living,” Henrik replied. “If it were as you say, then it’s not an Evil Spirit, but a Monster Spirit.”
“And a high-level Monster Spirit, at that.”
At this, Roger’s heart skipped a beat, as he suddenly remembered his beautiful neighbor, “Aren’t there any exceptions?”
“Exceptions to what?”
“Like a Ghost at a lower level, but still possessing complete cognitive abilities.”
Henrik frowned, pondered for a moment, and answered, “No.”
“Not that I am aware of.”
“If you really want to understand more about this, you’ll need to seek out a Spirit Medium or an Exorcist with a true lineage.”
“Exorcist?”
Henrik nodded, “Unlike us, Exorcists aren’t particularly strong fighters, but they wield powerful force against Spiritual Bodies and Monster Spirits. They deal with ghosts and ghouls year-round and might know some secrets that are hidden from the public.”
Roger took mental note and did not press any further.
With no more topics, the room once again fell into silence.
Time ticked by, and soon it was midnight.
Thud!
Suddenly, a noise came from the third-floor corridor, startling Roger, but before he could stand up, Henrik spoke in an unhurried tone, “Don’t move, don’t go anywhere.”

“We’ll wait for it right here.”
He looked at Roger, “In battle, you must try to take the initiative in every aspect—environment, terrain, everywhere.”
Shortly after, a plump rat scurried across the hallway, appearing to be the source of the noise.
Keeping tense for a long time, Roger quickly felt fatigued, but he was clear that the long night had only just started. Steadying his restless spirit, he slowed his breathing, exhaling in a particular rhythm.
And so, Henrik and Roger sat facing each other all night.
Only when a glimmer of daylight began to rise in the sky and the first rays of dawn entered the room did Henrik stand up, “This is unusual.”
He paced back and forth.
“This isn’t an ordinary Evil Spirit, perhaps someone is manipulating it from behind,” he said.
“Shall we continue tonight?” Roger asked.
Henrik shook his head, “That would be too passive, we need to take the initiative, start by clarifying the Evil Spirit’s identity.”
“Five people died here initially, it’s likely to be one of them.”
Roger suddenly thought of a possibility, “Could it be Hannam’s wife, Edith?”
Henrik considered it, “Edith died much earlier than the other five, that possibility…”
“Could it be that Edith was already dead, and Hannam tried to resurrect her through a Mysticism ritual, but during the process, an accident occurred that turned her soul into an Evil Spirit?”
Roger posed a hypothesis.
“That could explain why everyone died but only Hannam survived.”
“A fascinating assumption…”
Henrik stopped pacing.
“Let’s go to the Swamp Town police station; they have the information we need.”
The storm had stopped, the sky had cleared, and the roads were washed clean. Henrik sped up, and in a little over an hour, they were back in town.
After a quick breakfast, Roger took the opportunity to make a call to Thomas, but it took a long while for the phone to be answered on the other end.
“It’s fantastic, Roger, from today on, you’re my friend forever!”
On the other end of the phone, Thomas’s ingratiating tone made it difficult for Roger to accept. “What happened?” Roger asked, remembering last night’s downpour.
“How was your last night?”
“Amazing like never before!”
“That’s hard to believe…” Even through the phone, Roger could almost picture Thomas’s face.
After a brief chat, Roger keenly heard a soft moan from the other end of the phone, followed by Thomas’s voice, “Goodness, I’m running out of time!”
Thomas said hurriedly, “Can’t talk now, I need to make the most of the time.”
“There should be time for another go!”
The line then went dead.
Roger looked at his phone, confused, when Henrik’s barely suppressed laughter suddenly came from beside him.
“Did you do something?”
A bad premonition started forming in Roger’s mind.
“Nothing much.”
Henrik chuckled, “I just called an escort for your friend before I left yesterday.”
He whistled cheerfully, “He must’ve had a great time last night~”
“WTF!”
Roger couldn’t help but curse. Was there even such an operation?
But then something else occurred to him.
“You didn’t just make the call without paying, did you?”
Thomas was as clean as a whistle, probably carrying just enough cash for a burger and a coke.
Roger didn’t even want to imagine how miserable Thomas would end up if he couldn’t pay for the services.
You should know these girls are backed by gangsters; expecting a freebie?
Ha!
Speaking of money, Henrik’s eyes twitched imperceptibly.
“How could that be?”
“I’ve already paid with the phone bill.”
He stepped on the accelerator.
“Of course, the money came out of your fee!” Henrik said fiercely.
Meanwhile, a shapely woman hurriedly left the lakeside cabin as if fleeing. Behind her were Thomas’s dark circles and a face full of resentment.
“It’s all Roger’s fault. If it hadn’t been for that call, the timing would’ve been just right.”
“Ah… what a pity.”
“What’s been going on lately?” the lady muttered softly.
“Why do I keep running into weirdos?”
“But at least this client was generous, he actually paid double the fee.”
Suddenly remembering the guy who had escaped through the window not long ago, she felt a surge of hatred that made her teeth itch.
She cursed under her breath, for the first time feeling like she was performing a laborious job.
Henrik walked out of the police station carrying a huge stack of files, and Roger was not surprised by this sight.
For he had seen at least 30 identification cards on Henrik!
From a Federal Agent to the Wildlife Association, he had them all, and according to Henrik, all of them were genuine.
This must also be a kind of privilege.
“Here’s all the information on the victims.”
“See if you can find any clues.”
“We’re not professional Spirit Mediums; we can’t use many techniques.”
“We can only concoct a remedy once we identify the Evil Spirit.”
