Chapter 811: Don’t Die!

Vinea too slow breaths adjusting her mood, though her beloved husband told her things would be alright with Lith.

The sight of him looking so weak struck a chord deep within her, reminding her of the past. When she put her life on the line to keep the demons out of Grigor, that desperate fight still waged on inside her, a never-ending waltz.

"Ciela, don’t take this easily."

She couldn’t stand being weak, watching Asmodeus deal with issues himself, despite being the most important man in the entire Empire. Her insides boiled with rage at her own worthlessness, yet she struggled to tell him. This bundle of searing heat that welled up every time she saw him go so far for them all...

"Do you think I’ll lose to someone like you?!" Ciela snapped back while drawing her bowstring, her glance fleetingly shifting to Asmodeus in the distance.

Her gaze followed the elves and watched Asmodeus, who quickly became crowded by their many children and the wives seeking his affection.

’Stop thinking... he knows, he knows how much I love him...’

Then their eyes met.

Vinea’s heart skipped a beat.

Her legs quivered, feeling soft at the thought of the evening ahead.

’If he remains clueless about my true feelings... then I will show him tonight.’

Velvet’s loud steps shattered Vinea’s lingering thoughts as she approached the two.

Her sharp violet eyes glanced at both women.

Then she took a long, hard breath before spreading her arms.

"Both of you pay attention, although this duel is a punishment, I shall not make it unfair. You will both start thirty metres apart, and the battle will commence ten seconds after the coin drops to the ground. Don’t inflict any permanent damage to the opponent, although we can heal it. Never forget how much our beloved hates seeing us fight."

Ciela dropped her act and lowered her hips, grasping her bow loosely in her hand.

Vinea nodded, accepting the rules and Asmodeus’s heart.

"Then, keep your eyes on the coin."

Velvet didn’t delay and flicked the coin into the air with her thumb.

The coin rotated rapidly as it floated into the air.

Slowly, the rotations slowed as it descended to the ground with a soft chime.

Shing!

’Two seconds...’

Opposite Vinea, Ciela drew her bow, and three elemental arrows crackled with immense force as she curled her lips.

Unlike her opponent, Vinea didn’t need a lot of wind-up or preparation time; she held out her hand, and the gigantic sword Balmung manifested. She gripped it tight and took slow, deep breaths while keeping her muscles relaxed and able to move.

’Six Seconds.’

The ground surrounding the elf glowed with various patterns that stretched through the earth at least seven metres away from her body. A green tree appeared three times, while a red flame and a blue diamond also flickered beneath the leaves.

However, before Vinea could analyse the magic, they sank into the ground and vanished from sight. ’Damn... is she placing traps?’

’Eight Seconds!’

As Vinea counted eight, she tightened her thighs and poured most of her divine force into her legs. The next moment, Velvet clapped her hands, signalling the start of their duel and almost instantly, two arrows jolted through the air, aimed at Vinea’s chest.

’This bitch wants to kill me?!’ Vinea’s eyes widened.

She rushed at the elf explosively, each stride long and elegant as she cleared twenty metres in the blink of an eye.

Ciela backed off, drawing light arrows and loosing them at Vinea in a constant barrage, while using her foot to draw elven glyphs on the floor with each step.

"Come back here!"

"Shut up, do you think I am stupid, bitch!"

"You elven slut! Even after spending an entire day having your brains railed into mush, you still want more, how greedy!"

"What?! Says the whore who creeps into his bed even when it’s not her night, and rides him like a hopeless nymphomaniac?!"

The long history of war between the human and elven races never truly ended.

It was only because Asmodeus stopped any brewing ill after knocking up both kingdoms’ princesses. So the inborn racism and hatred towards each other just slipped out with both of them having a clear heart-to-heart mid-battle.

Vinea’s foot tapped the ground fifteen metres from Ciela.

The elf jumped airborne and landed on a branch. "Fool!" She mocked as a bright green tree flashed beneath Vinea’s foot.

"Shit..."

A low magical buzz echoed as the green rune shattered.

Countless earthen spokes shot from the floor at high speed. Vinea’s aura blossomed in an orange hue as she slammed Balmung into the earth and volted away from the trapped area using it as a pole to avoid being impaled.

Fwoosh!

Dozens of razor-sharp rocks tore through the air.

She stepped on the blade and squatted, gathering all her power before lunging at Ciela in the tree above her.

Once the green sigil was activated, like a chain reaction, multiple red and blue sigils glowed in the path ahead of Ciela.

Vinea shot through the sky at Ciela.

Ciela smirked, holding her bow tightly, as she drew a flaming arrow. The golden arrow hissed with searing heat as she waited, watching Vinea arc through the air, not releasing the arrow as if waiting for the prime moment.

’This sly....’

She floated through the air, watching Ciela’s movements like the opposite did to her. Yet, Vinea didn’t worry; her eyes remained focused as four grey wings spread from her back, and she took flight.

"Wait!" Ciela followed suit, but her transformation took longer.

Thanks to the sudden burst of speed from her wings, Vinea flung into the air before flipping overhead and dove towards the elf.

The wind cut her cheeks.

However, she didn’t aim to slow down, drawing her hands to her shoulders and grasping air as she called out. "Balmung!" Her massive divine demon sword formed in the sky, within her arms.

Ciela’s pupils shrank upon seeing Vinea’s rapid descent.

"Are you fucking kidding?!"

She bit her lip and drew her bow, the beautiful purple arrow infused with fire and ice, trembled as she aimed at Vinea’s falling figure.

The tip of her arrow crackled with an icy chill.

Both women stuck to their guns; one fell, the other was about to shoot.

"Ciela!"

"Vinea, don’t die!"

A burst of mana spread from the tip of the arrow facing Vinea as she shouted.

An ethereal glow wrapped the elf, forming a beautiful mantle of green and black covered in magical flora and vines. The pressure on Vinea almost tripled the moment Ciela’s hair turned black, and she used the strange technique.

"All my life, I’ve done what I was told... no matter when, even after meeting Asmodeus!"

Vinea held Balmung tight, pulling it further back as she approached Ciela and shouted, releasing her emotions in response.

"Who hasn’t experienced such a life among his women?!"

The elf’s eyes shook for a moment.

That moment was enough.

Balmung’s tip shone with a black and golden light, the union of holy and demonic, a perfect balance between the two that even Asmodeus couldn’t achieve.

Vinea pierced the elf, her blade penetrating the air.

Ciela took in a gasp of breath and released her arrow.

VWOOM!

SHIING!

A pillar of gold engulfed the sky, while a beam of purple shot through the pillar, piercing it.

Balmung tore through the tree, vaporising the surroundings as Ciela drew two pristine elven blades and caught the strike using blades made of elven steel.

"Argh... Kuah....!"

Ciela vomited blood as she sank into the melting ground.

Vinea pressed her palm on the back of Balmung, adding more force into her strike, sweat pouring down her cheeks as she burned through her Divine Aura in an explosive burst of power.

Crack!

"Ahh..!?"

The elven blades shattered.

Balmung tore through Ciela’s chest, cleaving her left shoulder down to her right hip.

"Ngh... damn it..."

However, Vinea struggled to continue, kneeling on the ground with a hand to her stomach. The arrow shot by Ciela tore through Vinea’s defensive armour, and a large hole gushed blood in her abdomen.

"Kuh... where have you been secretly practising?" Vinea grimmace, her teeth bright red and bloody as she dragged Balmung from the ground and swung it in the air, before aiming towards Ciela.

Ciela also struggled to keep fighting; her left arm dangled hopelessly, while her right hand still trembled from the aftershock of resisting Balmung’s strike with a mortal weapon. "How could I endure him at night if I just lazed around?!"

"..." Vinea hesitated, because she had a point.

"Tsk... I won’t forgive you... but I can’t help but admire how you’ve kept this skill hidden for three years..." Vinea crept closer, her hand stained red from her blood, her vision swam, becoming blurry as she approached the kneeling elf.

"Hmph, you too. Don’t think I can appreciate the efforts and hard work you’ve all done, especially you and Velvet."

"But I cannot give up on this!" // "But I won’t let you off!"

The two shouted in sync.

Ciela put her hand to the floor, as dozens of red explosive glyphs activated around Vinea’s body, while Vinea held Balmung in the air, charging another Divine aura blade.

The two met eyes, and aware of the intensity of their next attacks, once again shouted their true feelings in the moment.

"CIELA!" // "VINEA!"

""DON’T DIE!!!""
