Chapter 113: Steel Strength

The strength radiating from his eyes inspired respect in some students, but many of them still looked down on him.

"Today, we will focus on the essence of Steel Strength," Nyvar began in a calm tone.

"Steel Strength is not primarily just about the power of a strike or the sharpness of a blade, even though that too is very important. But it’s also about the harmony of body, mind, and weapon. When you delve into martial arts, you must understand how every strike, every deflection, and every rotation of the weapon stems from your own internal fortitude," he said and rubbed his eyes.

"Alright, first I want to see your martial arts. Once I see it, I’ll tell you your weaknesses that need improvement. Each of you will fight with me for a bit, and when I say so, the next one will go. Don’t use any techniques or spells, I just want to see your martial arts. I’ll only be dodging and imitating my hand as a sword, I won’t actually attack you," said Nyvar and stretched.

The students whispered among themselves and then everyone lined up in front of the professor. First in line was a young man with a smile, who pulled his sword out from a spatial ring.

The student then rushed at the professor, while the others watched from a distance. The student and Nyvar sparred for a while, with Nyvar using his hand as a sword.

"Alright, that’s enough. You lack reflexes and sometimes lose focus, and you could also work on creativity because some of your moves could’ve gone a better route, but otherwise, not bad. Remember what I told you well," said Nyvar.

Then he placed a hand over his mouth and yawned again. "Next," he said.

Like this, Nyvar tested each student for a few minutes and told them their shortcomings, always precisely identifying the fighting style the student was aiming to achieve.

When Flain’s turn comes, he will drop the mask of an average student and go all out against Nyvar. The reason is simple — Flain wants to learn from an expert where his aggressive fighting style has weaknesses. It’s likely Flor won’t be pleased with this, and Flain is aware of that, but it would be foolish not to take advantage of such a good opportunity for testing.

The line was shrinking, and Nyvar had just tested the last student before Flain. "You have pretty slow speed compared to your strength level, and your attacks are quite clumsy," he said to the student.

The student clearly didn’t like that and looked Nyvar directly in the eyes. "Know your place, you mixed-blood piece of shit," he said, spat on the ground, and walked off.

Most of the students’ eyes turned to Nyvar, curious about his reaction.

"Hahahahahahahaha." To everyone’s surprise, Nyvar burst into deep laughter, clutching his stomach.

"Ever since I became strong, no one has said something like that to me in a long time," said Nyvar as he wiped tears of laughter from his eyes.

But then his smile faded. "I guess if I don’t hand out punishment, I won’t build any respect among you," he murmured.

He vanished from his spot and appeared behind the student’s back. "You shouldn’t have said that," he muttered.

Nyvar grabbed the student by the neck and began choking him so hard that saliva started dripping from his mouth. Then he threw him into the air and kicked him with his foot into a nearby wall.

He appeared again near the student and took his limp body into the air, where he began punching him. The student had no teeth left, and his head was completely destroyed. When Nyvar was finished, he brushed the blood off his fists and appeared in front of the line of students.

This truly sparked respect in everyone — no one wanted to end up like that. The student’s body looked like he was already dead. Doctors rushed to him and began healing him using heal spells.

"Next," said Nyvar.

Flain wasn’t frightened at all by what Nyvar had just done — as a slave, he had experienced worse things. The only thing that annoyed Flain was that he couldn’t use his tail, as it was too risky, and without the tail, he was weaker.

Flain stepped forward in front of Nyvar, and his swords appeared in his hands as he launched at him.

Nyvar dodged or blocked his attacks with his hand. The fight continued — Flain fought aggressively and didn’t give Nyvar any space to counterattack, not that Nyvar was attacking anyway.

Flain fought with all his strength, and his mind was focused on just one thing: kill Nyvar.

"Enough," said Nyvar, and Flain immediately stopped.

"One of the best fighting styles I’ve seen today so far. You should take an example from him," said Nyvar.

"Very good aggressive fighting style for your Stage. The only thing I have to criticize is that it’s not worth going aggressive right from the start, because you lose the opportunity to surprise your opponent. I’d also recommend focusing on your senses so you can’t be taken by surprise from behind, and also focusing on speed, because that is the foundation of an aggressive fighting style," Nyvar said to Flain.

Flain had gone aggressive and cunning right from the start — something he normally wouldn’t do — but he thought that if he opened with aggression, it would stand out more. Clearly, he shouldn’t have done that.

He’s already focusing on speed, and he also decided that he would attend Third Eye for the senses. Flain’s ego doesn’t get the better of him, so he knows that the man in front of him is far more experienced than he is, and ignoring his advice would be foolish.

The students in line next to him were whispering to each other about Flain — this definitely brought him attention. But Flain didn’t think it would be so much that anyone would actually be truly interested in him.

"Thank you for your unique words," Flain said and stepped aside.

In the end, Nyvar tested all the students and recommended to each what they should focus on. No major problems arose, except when Nyvar told Cru Enirt that his attacks were too straightforward and that he should focus on alternative options in case his attacks failed.

Cru got angry and transformed into his werewolf form and wanted to attack Nyvar, but then snorted and changed his mind.

"Alright, that’s it. You can leave. Today was more of an introductory hour and a half so I could get to know you and explain a few things, so you didn’t really learn anything fundamental," Nyvar said after giving feedback to the last student in line.

The students began to leave...
