Demonic Skeleton God-Chapter 70: Flor’s Home
Chapter 70: Flor’s Home
Itai looked out the window. They were just outside Imperial City. In front of him stood a large silver mansion with a spacious garden in the back. In the center, a blood-red snowflake was engraved.
A tall servant came to the door of the carriage and opened it.
Flor stepped out, and Itai followed right after him. "Consider these two as my good friends, Nagato," he said, pointing to Itai and Zheren.
"Of course, young master," said Nagato.
"Do you like my home?" Flor asked.
"It’s really amazing," said Itai with a smile.
"My brothers will probably tease you, but don’t let it get to you. You’re more talented than they are anyway," said Flor as they stood in front of large iron doors leading inside.
They found themselves in a grand hall full of luxurious furniture and scurrying servants. "Follow me," said Flor.
Flor led them through the hall and up the stairs, but someone stopped them. It was a tall, slim man dressed in a light blue suit similar in style to Flor’s. He had short curly hair and a neutral expression, looking to be around 20 years old.
"Hmh, Flor, are these your friends?" he asked, glancing down at Itai and Zheren.
"Yes," said Flor, glaring at the man with irritation.
"Who’s that?" asked Itai.
"Oh, that’s my eldest brother, Nanari," said Flor.
"For you, I’m Baron Nanari Wahraid," said Nanari and walked past them.
"Just ten years ago he reached Stage 6, so he became a Baron, and now he acts like it’s a huge deal and looks down on everyone," whispered Flor with a smirk.
After a moment, they reached the end of the corridor. At the end stood a statue of a lion’s head with its mouth wide open.
"Put your hand into its mouth. Mages use the type of magic they have the highest affinity for, because logically they’ll be able to cast it the strongest. So now you’ll see where your path leads," said Flor.
"And it won’t bite me?" asked Itai.
"Don’t worry," said Flor with a laugh.
Itai slowly inserted his hand into the lion’s maw. A strange wave of energy passed through Itai’s arm, surprising him, and he unintentionally pulled it out.
Itai’s arm up to the elbow was covered in black flames. Itai recognized these flames well—they always appeared on his arm when he resurrected the undead.
"That’s dark mana. Dark mana is mostly used by assassins and spies because it has good stealth spells, and it’s pretty good for attack too," Flor praised Itai.
In reality, it was necrotic mana, which Itai also believed, but for safety it was better that Flor thought it was dark mana. Many people confuse dark mana and necrotic mana because both are black—the difference lies in their form. Necrotic mana takes the form of black flames, while dark mana manifests as a dark aura that absorbs light around it.
It’s extremely rare for a human to have the highest talent for necrotic mana—usually only the undead do. However, that doesn’t mean humans can’t use necrotic magic; after all, necromancers exist. It’s just that the vast majority of people don’t have their greatest affinity with necrotic mana.
"Zheren, you’re up," said Flor with a smile.
Zheren walked up to the lion’s head and carelessly placed his hand into it.
"Hey, Zheren doesn’t seem very talkative, hasn’t said a single word," Flor whispered to Itai.
"Yeah, you’re right, he doesn’t talk much," said Itai.
Meanwhile, Zheren pulled his hand out, and his arm was engulfed in black flames. That wasn’t too unusual, since almost every undead has their highest affinity with necrotic mana. Not surprising—after all, he is an undeath, his body resurrected by necrotic mana.
Undeath can come into existence in three ways. Either a necromancer or a Lich resurrects it. Or it is summoned by a dungeon. It’s important to note that monsters in a normal dungeon will never reach a level of intelligence that would allow them to speak. So when a dungeon spawns a Stage 3 undeath, which under normal circumstances should be capable of speech, the dungeon’s influence will prevent that.
Of course, every dungeon has a special type of monsters that spawn there, so there can be a dungeon where monsters have high enough intelligence to speak.
The third way is that a lot of people will die in an area due to which there will be a high density of necrotic mana in the air and the corpses can come back to life as undead, which takes some time. This is the natural way and this is how most undead are created. So for example after some big war a large number will start appearing in the world.
"Also dark mana? Are you two related or something?" Flor asked.
Itai thought for a moment—he definitely wasn’t going to say yes. The only thing similar between them was the highest affinity for necrotic mana. Itai was 1.75 meters tall and Zheren was 3 meters, it’s not a match at all.
"No, we’re just good friends, that’s all," said Itai.
"But it’s quite the coincidence that you both have the highest affinity with dark mana, since it’s pretty rare," said Flor.
"You should go now, because my second eldest brother should be arriving any moment, and if he noticed you, it wouldn’t end well," said Flor.
Suddenly, a figure appeared behind them. It was a tall man with messy white hair and a long beard. He looked like he was under the influence of some drug. He wore massive black armor.
This dude didn’t look like a noble to Itai at all—he looked more like some deranged military commander.
"Oh, my little brother brought some friends," he said, his wide-open eyes staring at Itai and Zheren.
"Oh, hello Hikaru," said Flor gloomily.
Hikaru walked up to Itai and stretched out his hand. Itai didn’t want to offend him, so he shook it.
As soon as Itai’s hand touched Hikaru’s, he felt a real pressure. Hikaru lifted Itai into the air and threw him against the wall.
Itai’s broken, bloody body lay on the floor in a pool of blood. A wave of rage overwhelmed Zheren, and he launched himself at Hikaru.
Hikaru easily dodged and kicked him in the back, sending him flying toward Itai.
"Hmh, next time bring stronger friends," said Hikaru.
A silver saber appeared in Flor’s hand. "You’ve really gone too far this time," he said.
"Oh, my little brother wants to fight me. Let’s see how long you last this time," Hikaru said while his narrowed pupils twitched.
Both of them rushed at each other, but a figure appeared between them...
