Chapter 484: No Need To Fear When I’m Here

Cassius looked around at his companions, their shoulders slumped, faces grim, hope flickering like dying embers.

They had come this far, crossed regions, fought monsters, uncovered horrors, and risked their lives for this one moment.

They were supposed to be victorious, to crush the cult and put an end to the ritual before it even began. Yet here they stood, powerless, separated from their goal by an invisible wall of death.

Aisha looked the worst of all. Her hands hung limply by her sides, her eyes distant and hollow as she stared at the mountain ahead.

Even she, the ever-calculating, unflinching mage who always had a solution for everything, looked like she had finally hit a wall she couldn’t break.

Cassius sighed quietly. He couldn’t bear to watch them sink any lower.

So, without warning, he clapped his hands sharply.

The sudden sound made all three of them jolt and look up.

"Come on now." Cassius said, his tone suddenly bright, the faintest grin curling on his lips. "Just because we hit a roadblock doesn’t mean it’s all over. We’re not just going to give up because of one stupid barrier."

Julie frowned. "Cassius, this isn’t a normal barrier—"

"I know." He interrupted, his voice firm yet oddly relaxed. "But we’ve all faced worse, haven’t we? I mean, like actual life threatening situations, not potential ones like this. So, we’ll find a way through this, one way or another."

"And how exactly, Cassius?" Aisha looked up slowly, her tone bitter. "How are we supposed to get through it?"

Her voice cracked slightly, frustration bubbling up.

"Even if one of us tries to cross, we’ll be obliterated instantly! Maybe, just maybe, you might survive with how powerful you are. But even that’s doubtful. So tell me, what exactly can we do? This is impossible. The array’s got us trapped."

He didn’t argue. He simply smiled.

"Yes, it might seem impossible." He said softly. "But this spell—it’s still mana, isn’t it?"

Aisha blinked, confused by the shift in topic.

"Yes, it is." She answered slowly. "Mana, runes, celestial waveforms have clearly been used to construct it. So, yes, technically this is a spell built around Mana."

"Then if it’s like that..." Cassius chuckled, a low, satisfied sound. "...doesn’t that mean that there’s a chance we can break down this entire spell? You know degrade it down to it’s lowest form?"

Aisha flicked at the statement like she heard something absurd. Julie, seeing her sister’s reaction, quickly jumped in.

"Break down the spell? Degrading it? What exactly does Cassius mean by that, Aisha?"

Aisha exhaled, before looking at Julie with a deafeated smile like she me what said wasn’t going to work, but still explained.

"He means, to deconstruct it, Captain." She said slowly. "He wants to reverse-engineer the annihilation field, to break it apart piece by piece using a counter spell."

Julie blinked. "Reverse the spell? Like, undo it?"

"Exactly." Aisha said, her tone growing graver with each word. "Think of it like this: the cult built this spell the way one might build a house. Each rune, each energy mark, each mana node, they’re the bricks that hold it together."

"What Cassius is suggesting, is to create a counter-structure. A spell that dismantles those bricks one by one, until the entire house collapses and returns to dust."

Skadi’s eyes widened, her earlier gloom vanishing in an instant.

"That sounds amazing! So we can just do that, right? Take it apart and bust in to kill all those freaks?"

But Aisha’s expression only grew darker.

"No, it’s not that simple." She shook her head. "Deconstructing a spell, any spell, is one of the hardest things you can do in magic."

"Building a spell is already complicated, you have to construct layer after layer of mana pathways, stabilize the energy, and initiate it perfectly. That’s why there are so few true mages in the world."

"...But reversing a spell?

"She gave a short, humorless laugh.

"That’s a hundred times harder. You’d need to understand not just the spell’s formation, but its inner structure, its flow, its mana integrity, and how every rune interacts with every other."

"But you can do that, right?" Skadi frowned. "You always brag about being one of the strongest mages around. You’ve said it a hundred times."

Aisha flushed slightly, her composure faltering.

"I-I could, in theory." She admitted reluctantly. "But something of this magnitude isn’t something I can just snap my fingers and undo. It’s a Ninth-grade Array, it would take at least thirty mages on my level working together for hours to even make a dent in it. Alone, it would take me an entire year of uninterrupted work to even begin breaking it apart."

She looked at Cassius helplessly.

"We don’t have that kind of time. The ritual will start before I’m even halfway done, so what you’re suggesting is impossible."

Julie’s shoulders slumped. Skadi’s tail drooped again.

The brief spark of hope that Cassius’s idea had ignited flickered out as quickly as it came.

But that’s when suddenly Cassius laughed out loud, the sound echoing in the silent forest.

Everyone looked up in surprise.

"That’s where you’re wrong, Aisha!" Cassius declared, his voice ringing with absolute certainty. "You may not have thirty mages on your level—but you definitely have me on your side!"

"And that, my dear, is more than enough to break down this petty little spell!"

A look of complete absurdity appeared on Aisha’s face.

"You? You, Cassius? What does that even mean?" She scoffed. "I don’t even think you could conjure a single simple spell! Are you even a mage?"

"Not at all." Cassius casually shook his head. "I have never even cast a single spell in my entire lifetime."

"Then how?!" Aisha exploded, stepping closer. "How in the world can you help us when it comes to deconstructing a spell? It’s something that even I can’t do with how talented and amazing I am! How is a non-mage going to help us out?"

Cassius took a step forward, closing the distance between them and the humming barrier.

"I may not know how to use mana, or even possess mana, in fact." He admitted easily. "But I have been studying theoretical mana back at home with how many books there are on the topic in my family library."

"And just with all the books that I’ve studied, I’m quite a master when it comes to theoretical magic."

Aisha groaned dramatically.

"It’s not like I don’t believe you, Cassius." She said, rolling her eyes. "You’re extremely intelligent and smart—smarter than even me in fact. And that says something, since I don’t admit something like that so casually."

She looked at him with an exasperated pity.

"But theoretical magic is completely different to practical magic! Only when you have some level of practical experience can you actually thoroughly delve into magic itself!"

"Not to mention a array like this! That’s not something you can break down using theoretical knowledge alone! You need the most brilliant minds in the world working together at the same time to break it down."

"You need some intense mind work and mana-processing abilities. It’s not something one person can take down by himself, no matter how smart he is!"

But Cassius simply smirked, an arrogant confidence radiating from him.

"That may be true for others, Aisha. But I, on the other hand, am completely different. I am a completely different species, standing at the very peak. As long as I put my mind to it, I can do it."

His tone was so arrogantly certain that even Julie, who had seen his ridiculous ego many times before—couldn’t help but sigh and smile at the same time.

Aisha too stared at him like she couldn’t decide whether to smack him or laugh.

"You really don’t have a shred of humility, do you?"

"Humility’s for people who doubt themselves." Cassius grinned wider.

Then he turned to her, his eyes glinting with mischief.

"Tell you what, Aisha, let’s make a bet. If I manage to break down this spell like I said, I get something from you. If I fail, you get something from me. Deal?"

"A bet?" Aisha blinked, caught off guard. "Right now?"

"Why not?" Cassius said lightly. "You said it’s impossible, didn’t you? So you’ve got nothing to lose."

Even in this absurd situation, she couldn’t help but smile a little.

"Fine." She said with a sigh. "I’ll take the bet. I mean, it’s obvious I’ll win anyway. What do I get when you fail?"

Cassius leaned closer, voice low and teasing.

"Anything you want."

That made her pause, and then blush furiously.

"Anything?"

"Anything." He confirmed, his smirk deepening.

Her mind immediately went places it shouldn’t have, and she looked away quickly.

"F-Fine, fine." She muttered, brushing her hair back to hide the redness on her cheeks. "And what do you want if, somehow, you win?"

Cassius leaned down close to her ear and whispered something quick and explicit.

Aisha’s entire face turned a vivid, furious red. She clutched her butt protectively.

"You pervert! You pervert! I knew you would ask something like that! You really can’t keep your naughty hands to yourself, can you?! Always asking for the same thing over and over again!"

Cassius chuckled. "If you don’t want to take the bet, then you don’t have to."

But her eyes narrowed dangerously as she grinned and said, "Oh no, I’m not backing out. You’re going to lose, and when you do, I’ll make sure your punishment is legendary."

Julie, who had been standing off to the side, finally sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.

"You two are unbelievable." She muttered. "In case you’ve both forgotten, there’s a cult under that mountain preparing to summon something that could end the empire. Maybe, just maybe, we should focus on that?"

"Right. Of course. The cult." Cassius coughed into his fist.

Aisha huffed but folded her arms, trying not to look too flustered.

"Alright then, oh mighty genius. What’s your plan?"

Cassius looked back toward the mountain, eyes sharp with determination.

"Simple." He said. "You’ll be my assistant. You’ll follow everything I say to the letter. If we do this right, we’ll tear that spell down faster than you can say ’That’s impossible!’ like you’ve doing for a while now!"

Aisha smirked faintly, trying to mask her skepticism.

"Fine. I’ll humor you. Even though I don’t believe for a second that you’ll pull it off, I do want to see what you’re going to try. And if by some miracle you actually manage it, it’ll save everyone inside. That’s worth taking a chance on."

...but little did Aisha know, that this very decision—this horribly arrogant, casually accepted bet—would be the reason that her untouched little anus would later be penetrated, stretched, and thoroughly ravaged by Cassius’s massive penis and she would be moaning out his name all night.
