Descendants of Gibbous-Chapter 69: Trap
By the time Damien was back from classes—4PM to be exact, he was sore all over and embarrassed to the core.
Embarrassed because pictures of him and Craig doing the handshake of love were plastered here and there around Fangpeak’s dorm by who knows who, and sore because of their joint class that Monday—gym, acrobatics, and martial arts.
There was an entire syllabus to it with all kinds of arts Damien had yet to experience. At the beginning, he had been excited about the class. After all, he used to be the best in his class at Physical staff, but he’d forgotten that he was no longer in the human world and the people here were beasts.
In the four hours of their first intercardinal class as first years, Damien had witnessed what he’d imagined hell would be like—intense training with no rest whatsoever.
One hour had been spent introducing the students to their teachers and what they were going to be doing in the coming years at Gibforge. The rest of the lesson was spent with them being in the gym training their muscle whilst consistently using their flow state.
"You have to be in that state always, even when you’re sleeping. Treat it the same way as if you’re breathing and you won’t have any problem tapping into your overdrive state when the time calls for it," their instructor, a pink hair teacher named Tatiana Snovaya with a slim athletic body yelled as she walked around the room, watching them struggle with both tasks at once.
"I won’t hesitate to send you back home if you prove to be a useless piece of shit in my classes," she warned, kicking the feet of a redhead named Cain after he had fallen asleep on a gym mat.
By some miracle, Damien managed to survive that intense training session, and now he was in the dorm’s dining room, dozing off on the couch next to Eden who was blabbering nonstop about the tour around school they were given by their seniors after classes ended to anyone who’d listen. They were done eating and were now sharing their first day experiences as first years just like Alicia had commanded, though it was now only four of them left—Damien, Eden, and the Chopra twin Witches, Parvati and Priyanka.
"Say, isn’t that Yong Kim too spoiled?" Parvati suddenly asked.
Damien’s ear twitched as he waited for someone to reply.
"I noticed the same thing too. I mean, he’s a prince and all that, but does that make him better than us," Priyanka added. "Especially his speech at the benches by the orchard. He’s too proud for his own good."
"No. I just know my place in this world," Yong interjected before Eden could reply as the girls who had been talking about him immediately disappeared, heading to their rooms in an instant.
Damien snapped his eyes open just in time to see the boy’s figure hovering before him, his eyes unwavering as he tapped Damien’s shoulder. Whatever had made him stop trying to sleep in their room and come down here to pick a fight with Damien—again.
"You, follow me," Yong commanded.
"Why should I?" Damien asked, scrunching his brows.
"Yeah, why should he?" Eden interjected, already grabbing Damien’s arm.
Yong’s eyes intensely gazed at the area for a moment before he turned back to Damien’s face, sighing. "We need to talk."
"You can do it here," Damien retorted.
"I can, but that wouldn’t give us enough room to express our opinions would it?"
"Is this about me saving your ass during our punishment?"
"Unfortunately, yes," Yong firmly replied.
"What about it?" Damien asked, ignoring Eden’s eyes now glued on him and Yong. The living room was now empty since everyone had disappeared and if they talked cautiously, they might as well have had the private talk Yong wanted.
Realizing Damien wasn’t going to move from his seat, Yong finally gave up on trying to have a private conversation with his roommate. He sighed and turned around, completely facing Damien now.
"Why did you do it?"
"Do what?"
"Don’t fuck with me Damien Amaris, you know what I’m talking about!"
Damien allowed himself a moment to be flustered. It seemed whatever on-and-off relationship he had with the dragon prince had finally soured and this was the time for it to end or improve for the better—but first...
"Remember when I told you we’d punish you for trying to get us expelled during the game of tag?"
Yong squinted his eyes at him a little as Damien continued.
"Well, I was thinking about it during your boring speech about being chosen and came to an interesting conclusion. Since you hate becoming a hero so much and are willing to sacrifice your place at this esteemed school, why not make sure you don’t get disqualified? That way, I’ll make sure you pay back for your silly prank with seven years of suffering from intense training and seeing the weak become heroes.
How does that sound, hmm?"
Yong scoffed. "And what makes you think I won’t do something that’ll get me expelled on my own?"
"Because if you wanted to, you’d have done so already. And seeing as to how you don’t want to become a hero so much but are here anyway, it must be that scary Dad of yours that’s forcing you to become a hero isn’t it?"
"And of what importance is this to you if I may ask?" Yong retorted.
"Because if that’s the case, it’ll ease some of the burden for me. I won’t have to worry about you going on a suicidal expelling mission by yourself since you fear your Dad might find out the intentions behind what you did to get expelled.
All I’ll have to do is make sure you stay out of "joint trouble" and my job will be done."
Eden squeezed Damien’s hand with her nails a little, sending a jolt of pain to his brain that birthed a sudden idea in Damien’s head. After what happened this afternoon, he was sure as hell she and Yong had some history between them. Whatever it was, Damien wasn’t sure, but maybe that was his solution to trapping Yong.
Holding back the smirk that almost showed, he turned to Eden. "Will you assist me in keeping him in check?"
Eden widened her eyes a little, but she didn’t fight Damien—mostly because she hadn’t told him why she didn’t like being around Yong Kim. However, if this was really the only way to make sure Yong suffered for even a little bit because of her, then she was willing to take the risk of being around him. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"Fine. I’ll tell Amber about the plan when she comes down to eat. She’s studying in Alicia’s room at the moment."
"Good," Damien finally smirked turning to face Yong.
Unsurprisingly, the dude’s expression had changed from being angry to half-smiling making Damien pat his back by himself.
’I knew he’d take the bait. Now let’s wait and see what kind of chemical reaction these two will give me.’
