Behind a certain sand dune, four towering Shield Guards stood watch in front of a tent.

Carlos, who’d been resting with his eyes closed, immediately snapped them open.

This salt sand would come in real handy when taking on the last and most powerful dark mist node in the Desolate Desert!

"After you get everything collected, everyone takes a day to rest up!"

After all that high-intensity killing, the Shield Guards had taken various amounts of damage to their health.

Since the process of resonating with the Sun Emperor’s Sword in the spirit realm might set off spirit realm creature riots, Carlos figured he’d better wait until everyone was back to full strength before heading out!

The next day, all the salt sand was packed away.

Twenty-seven Shield Guards had completely recovered too.

Carlos was pumped as the Crimson-Gold Feathered Serpent Wings behind him started flapping:

"Sun Emperor’s Sword! Here I come!"

He eagerly shot into the sky and charged back into the Pure White Salt Lands...

This time everything went smooth as silk with no trouble along the way.

Soon enough, Carlos reached a solid salt formation deep within the Pure White Salt Lands.

Compared to the loose salt gravel on the outskirts, this place had massive salt stones, like some force had been constantly compressing the salt gravel into solid blocks.

"This is the weak spot for communicating with the spirit realm!"

Carlos didn’t rush to draw the resonance array. Instead, he first called up all the Shield Guards.

He picked out twelve Redrose Shield Guards and had them take positions at specific spots within this special area.

Then Carlos pulled out a bunch of jars and handed them to the other Shield Guards, having them pour the contents over the Redrose Shield Guards.

Streams of semi-transparent liquid got poured over the Redrose Shield Guards’ heads, quickly spreading to cover their entire skeletal bodies.

Once the pouring was done, the Redrose Shield Guards in the special positions started going through weird changes.

Their bone bodies, including greatswords and giant shields, actually began turning semi-transparent, faintly starting to slip into the spirit realm!

Carlos nodded—the spirit realm secret liquid had done exactly what he’d hoped.

Now the Redrose Shield Guards could enter the boundary zone between spirit and material realms before the spirit realm secret liquid wore off.

In this resonance ceremony, the Redrose Shield Guards served double duty as both array nodes and barriers to keep spirit realm creatures from wrecking everything.

Then Carlos personally poured spirit realm secret liquid to connect the Redrose Shield Guard nodes one by one.

Soon the resonance array was good to go.

Next, Carlos positioned himself at the heart of the resonance array.

But he didn’t put spirit realm secret liquid on himself, because the Dawn Flame inside his body had to work as an anchor point for the material realm.

If he used spirit realm secret liquid, he’d probably end up getting dragged into the spirit realm instead of summoning the Sun Emperor’s Sword.

"You guys guard the perimeter—don’t let any monsters or people break in!"

The remaining Shield Guards all followed orders and started setting up defenses around the resonance secret array.

This would stop anyone from barging in and screwing up the ceremony.

With everything ready to go, Carlos began firing up the resonance secret array.

Semi-transparent patterns disappeared one by one, and the twelve Redrose Shield Guards also vanished from the material realm.

From the outside, only Carlos stood there by himself.

Carlos focused hard.

The unique aura belonging to Dawn Flame started spreading and got continuously gathered by the resonance secret array.

When enough aura had built up, the resonance array suddenly blazed with light as Dawn Flame’s aura punched through the spirit realm’s outer membrane and entered the spirit realm.

Then the aura spread rapidly like ripples toward the spirit realm’s depths...

Time ticked by minute by minute, but nothing happened.

Carlos wasn’t getting discouraged.

The odds of resonating with the Sun Emperor’s Sword on the first shot really weren’t that great.

He’d prepared for this before starting.

If once didn’t work, then twice. If twice didn’t work, then three or four times.

Eventually Dawn Flame’s aura would get picked up by the Sun Emperor’s Sword.

"Keep going!"

The resonance secret array began sending Dawn Flame’s aura for the second time.

All different heights and builds, some stocky, some skinny.

Bald heads with no facial features at all!
