Chapter 822: Getting Rid of Luna

Max stood a few steps away, calmly turning the blood crystal in his fingers. It glimmered under the faint light, and he could feel it—an intense chill, a strong presence of blood energy swirling within it like mist. It didn’t feel like the monster cores or spirit stones he’d encountered before. This was something else entirely.

He tilted his head and looked at Luna with curiosity. "Little girl," he said teasingly, ignoring her fuming expression, "what exactly is this blood crystal?" He smiled faintly, his voice laced with amusement.

"Come on, tell me about it." His tone was playful, but his mind was sharp—he wanted to know why this crystal didn’t appear when he killed the previous Blood Ghost King. This one must be different... or something special had triggered it. Either way, he was determined to learn what made this shimmering red stone so valuable.

"Go to hell!" Luna shrieked, her rage boiling over. Her voice, usually soft and sweet, now trembled with fury as she lunged at Max, her palm glowing with energy.

Max, ever calm, casually shifted his body to the side, dodging the attack like he was avoiding a falling leaf. He smirked, teasing her in a relaxed tone, "Forget it, why are you so angry? Girl, you’re too young to be ruining your skin with stress—get angry too often and you’ll wrinkle early."

Luna nearly exploded. Her delicate face flushed with rage, her breathing sharp. "Damn it, I’ll make you pay!" She shouted, and with that, she attacked wildly, throwing palm strikes and kicks at Max like a furious storm, her tiny figure filled with surprising strength and speed.

But Max remained completely at ease, evading her strikes with playful ease, dodging left, weaving right, never retaliating—just smiling like he was enjoying a child’s tantrum. "Little girl, save your energy. You’re not going to beat me in a million years," he said, laughing, which only fueled her anger more.

Luna’s pretty eyes were blazing now. "You, you—argh! Okay then! You bastard! I’m going to show you how powerful I am!" She yelled, and with a flick of her wrist, she reached into her storage ring, clearly about to summon something.

Max’s expression changed instantly. His instincts flared like alarms. ’Not good.’ He had already seen her pull out a Wind Spirit Rune and then a high-grade Lightning Rune. Who knew what other tricks she had hidden in that ring?

The last thing he wanted was to get blasted again in the middle of the Black Mist Swamp. Without a second thought, Max rushed forward and grabbed her wrist firmly before she could take anything out.

"Ah! What are you doing?! Let me go!" Luna screamed, struggling to break free, her small frame writhing in frustration. Her face, flushed with anger just moments ago, suddenly turned pale. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

She looked up at Max, whose black vital essence now faintly enveloped his body, his aura cold and forceful. Her wide crystal-clear eyes, which were brimming with tears of frustration earlier, now shimmered with the tiniest trace of fear.

Max leaned slightly closer, his grip unrelenting, and gave a half-smile. "What am I doing?" he repeated slowly, his tone playful but with a sharp edge. "I’m teaching you a little lesson. So that you remember—just because you’re the pampered little princess of some mysterious order doesn’t mean you can throw tantrums at anyone you want. The world’s a lot bigger than your Obsidian Order, and I’m not someone you can boss around."

"You...?" Luna’s face flushed with anger, but before she could speak further, Max grabbed her wrist and stared at her with a stern expression.

"Alright, enough!" he said sharply. "You’ve been acting spoiled and unreasonable ever since we met. Do you think this is a playground?"

Luna’s eyes widened. "Let go of me!" she snapped, but Max didn’t budge. His grip was firm—not painful, but enough to make it clear he wasn’t playing games anymore.

"What are you doing?" she asked, clearly flustered now, her voice less confident than before.

Max leaned in slightly, his voice calm but cold. "I’m teaching you a lesson. You think you can run around commanding people just because of your background? You nearly got us both killed back there."

Luna tried to pull away again but couldn’t. Her eyes welled up with frustration—not fear, but embarrassment. "You’re a jerk!" she shouted, kicking at the ground.

Max let go of her wrist and took a step back. "I don’t care if you’re the princess of the Obsidian Order or the queen of the Four God Nation," he said flatly. "If you’re going to survive in this secret domain, you better grow up fast."

For a second, Luna didn’t say anything. She just stood there, staring at him with those wide, crystal eyes—part anger, part shock, and part... realization.

She finally turned away, fists clenched, and muttered, "This isn’t over, you bastard."

Max chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "If I got a coin every time someone said that to me, I’d be rich by now."

Luna spun around and shot him one last glare before storming off, her bare feet splashing softly in the mud as she disappeared into the mist.

Max exhaled deeply, shook his head, and walked in the opposite direction. "Trouble magnet," he muttered to himself. "Why do I always attract the weird ones?"

After letting out a couple more carefree laughs, Max finally stepped out of the eerie Black Mist Swamp. With the Blood Ghost King already reduced to nothing more than dust, the most dangerous entity in that cursed fog was gone.

While there could still be some weaker monsters lurking within, they didn’t pose much of a threat to someone like Max anymore. As for the blood crystal he snatched up during the fight—it remained a mystery. He didn’t know its function or value, but its chilling energy and dense blood power made it clear that it wasn’t ordinary.

Without wasting time pondering over it, Max placed the crystal into a sealed jade box and stored it away carefully, planning to investigate its nature once he had access to proper resources outside the secret domain.
