As they searched the arena, their anxiety grew. "Where could they be?" Olive wondered aloud. ππ£πππππππΌππ²πΉ.ππ π
"This isnβt like Lucas to just disappear," Mark added, his voice laced with concern.
"Desmond isnβt like this too. Where could that dickhead go to?" Henry asked, his eyes scanning the area frantically.
"We need to find them before something bad happens." Just then, they all heard a splash as if someone or something had fallen into the water. Henry was the first to run towards the sound, followed by Mark, then Olive.
Henryβs eyes widened in horror as he stumbled upon Desmondβs lifeless body floating in the swimming pool which the water had turned red. He couldnβt believe what he was seeing and the thought that came to his mind was that Desmond, his friend, was dead. Henryβs mind raced with questions, but he had no answers. He didnβt know how Desmond ended up in the pool or what had happened to him.
He stumbled backward, tripping over his own feet, and fell onto the ground. Thatβs when he saw Olive walking towards him, a look of concern on her face.
"Henry, whatβs wrong?" she asked, but then she saw Desmondβs body in the pool and her eyes widened in shock. "Oh my God!"
"Oh no!" Mark exclaimed as he rushed towards the swimming pool with Henry, who quickly stood up from the ground. They both dragged Desmondβs body out of the pool, and Henry began performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in an attempt to save Desmond, but it was too late.
Olive quickly grabbed her phone and called the police, her hands trembling as she tried to explain what they had discovered. Henry then sat back down, staring at Desmondβs lifeless body in shock.
"Do you think your friend killed Desmond?" Henry asked, his eyes filled with anger as he glared at Mark. "He must have done it."
"Donβt jump to conclusions. We didnβt see Lucas at the scene, and I know he would never harm Desmond," Mark replied confidently, pacing back and forth.
"We all know he had a grudge against Desmond. Heβs the one who did it. He killed him and ran away," Henry insisted, suddenly lunging at Mark and landing a punch on his face, knocking him to the ground.
The two boys engaged in a heated fight, exchanging blows as Olive watched helplessly, unable to intervene without risking getting hurt herself.
"Are you two going to keep fighting like this?" Olive shouted. "Desmond just died, and we need to figure out what happened. Stop this!"
"Itβs clear that Lucas is the culprit," Henry declared, getting off Mark and moving closer to Desmondβs body and holding him close. "Why did you have to die?" he cried.
"I could say the same about you, considering the scholarship," Mark retorted, further enraging Henry, who once again attacked him, leading to another intense brawl.
The arrival of the police interrupted their fight, and Officer Blackwood instructed them to step back for the investigation. "We need to look into this," he said firmly.
"Thank goodness the police are here," Olive whispered with relief. "Otherwise, this could have turned into a bigger tragedy."
"Another incident at Belmont school?"
Officer Johnson remarked with a raised eyebrow. "Weβll need to hear your statements. But first, letβs head back to your school for further questioning."
Olive, Mark, and Henry could only nod in agreement as they were led out of the crime scene and into the police car.
The police car soon arrived at Belmont High School, and the students were escorted inside the building. Their expressions were downcast as they walked through the hallway and finally reached the principalβs office.
"Whatβs wrong?" Mr. Philip asked as soon as he saw the police officers.
"A student from your school is dead, and we found these three at the crime scene," Mr. Blackwood revealed, sending a shocked expression to Mr. Philipβs face. "Today was the competition day, which means that all students of Belmont High School were present. Therefore, we will be interrogating every student, teacher, etc., of this school."
"Which student died?" Mr. Philip raised an eyebrow at Mark.
"Itβs Desmond, sir. We found him dead," Mark revealed.
"Or your friend Lucas killed him," Henry interjected, causing shocked expressions to appear on Mr. Philip, Officer Blackwood, and Officer Johnsonβs faces.
"Lucas wouldnβt kill anyone. I can vouch for him with my life. I can also say that you killed your friend so that you could be the one to go on that scholarship," Mark retorted angrily.
"This is more difficult than I thought, and yes, youβre right, officers. Today was the competition day. You can go ahead and interrogate every student in this school. I hope the truth will be revealed soon," Mr. Philip said with a heavy sigh.
The police officers then led Olive, Mark, and Henry out of the principalβs office and back to their classrooms.
The classroom, which was buzzing with students, soon became quiet as the officers entered with Olive, Mark, and Henry, who went to their chairs and took a seat immediately.
"Good afternoon, officers. How can we help you?" Mr. James asked, his eyebrows raised in curiosity.
"Weβve already obtained permission from the school principal. Thatβs why weβre here. Donβt worry; it wonβt take much time," Officer Blackwood assured, while Mr. James nodded in agreement and stood aside, eager to know the reason for the officersβ presence in the school.
"Whatβs wrong?" Lucas asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Desmond is dead," Mark revealed, his voice barely above a whisper, sending waves of shock down Lucasβs spine. "And Henry is saying that youβre the one who killed him."
"And you believe I could kill him?" Lucas asked, his voice low but loud enough for Mark to hear.
"Never! I believe in you. You could never kill someone," Mark replied confidently as he placed a hand on Lucasβs hand, trying to calm him down.
Officer Johnson cleared his throat, capturing the studentsβ attention. A student had been discovered dead at the competition arena.
The once silent classroom erupted into noise as the students struggled to comprehend the news. Even Mr. James was visibly shocked.
"We are not accusing any students of being involved in this crime. Our purpose here is to question all of you, as many students from this school were present at the competition center," Officer Johnson stated with a stern expression.
"We are aware that students from other schools were also present, and rest assured, they will be investigated as well. We are committed to finding the true culprit," Officer Blackwood concluded, her tone conveying the gravity of the situation. The investigation into Desmondβs death has begun, and we need your full cooperation.
